What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

I think I've been lucky, but back to back labour with my first. Just remember it coming in excruciating waves and basically zoning out almost completely until they finally got the epidural in.

Childbirth. Nothing compares to the pain. It was beyond words.

Willowthewispp · 29/07/2021 16:14

Id rather give birth again then dislocate my shoulder again... worst pain ever!!!!

dentydown · 29/07/2021 16:37

Period pains. When i was younger I would regularly flood, be in agony, feel faint. It was dismissed by my mother as “character building”. I suppose that’s how I managed to keep it together when I was giving birth. I was left in the waiting room for 3 hours because “I wasn’t screaming”. Turned out I was 6-7 cms gone. It just felt like period pains!

Totally agree. I've never felt pain like I did when I dislocated my shoulder. Childbirth was a doddle(2 births without pain relief) compared to that
Billandben444 · 29/07/2021 17:13

Trigeminal neuralgia

intothewoodss · 29/07/2021 17:21

I've given birth twice and had gallstones but the worst pain for me was when my lower back went into spasm for two days. I couldn't move. I just lay on the bed stuffing tramadol and Valium into my face like sweets. I couldn't even walk to the loo or wipe my bum.

ALongHardWinter · 29/07/2021 17:22

Well, apart from giving birth, the pain I had in my stomach when I had a strangulated umbilical hernia 9 years ago was pretty horrific. I live in fear of it happening again.

Rhumatoidwarrior88 · 29/07/2021 17:23

My chronic arthritis has literally no competition apart from chaffing underboobs when you go to he gym everyday

Nohomemadecandles · 29/07/2021 17:24

Having my cervix turned, manually

My DH cried with me!

Roselilly36 · 29/07/2021 17:25

Gallstones, I would definitely rather give birth.

Jack80 · 29/07/2021 17:29

Child birth and miscarriage

NoJusticeJustUs · 29/07/2021 17:31

Gallstones, more than once when going through it I thought I was dying or wished I was dead

Beanmummy · 29/07/2021 17:33

My DP had this twice - and I have watched him in pain with it - his small intestine brust first time to couscous expanding and second time to adhesions - (he does have a unlying health condition) - so straight to A&E and emergency surgery!

Carpedimum · 29/07/2021 17:34

Aged 19, a migraine so bad that I vomited uncontrollably all the way down the street to my home. Once there, the pain in my head was so bad that I couldn’t even lay my head down. I couldn’t see properly, screamed in pain if my hair moved. In retrospect, my parents should probably have called an ambulance. I eventually managed to lie down & sleep. Years later, I’ve talked to my mum about it, and she says she was bothered that I’d got meningitis but has no clue why she didn’t get me to hospital. Childbirth with episiotomy & no painkillers was very painful, but not on the level of that headache.

pistolsatdawn · 29/07/2021 17:34

A Fallopian tube check. Literally Satan's own poking stick fishing around my innards.

Mamanyt · 29/07/2021 17:35

Ruptured cyst on my ovary when I was 16 years old. I was curled up in a fetal position on the floor, hurting so bad I couldn't even scream. My wonderful dad picked me up in that position and got me to the hospital. LOTS of very good drugs later, it was fine. But it was excruciating. Worse than childbirth, worse than my gallstones (gall bladder ruptured as they removed it and set it in the pan...it just shredded, thankfully AFTER it was out of my body!).

Hammer66 · 29/07/2021 17:35

Broken right arm at top by shoulder, unbearable worse than childbirth

Trulyhadenough · 29/07/2021 17:35

Had trigeminal neuralgia and several of the others ,all pretty bad . Not in the same universe as the subarachnoid haemorrhage (aneurysm) I suffered a few years ago. And frankly, childbirth, I was lucky ,I know , but had a bit of gas and air for first, but no pain relief for second .

Maggiejardine · 29/07/2021 17:36

My worst pain is severe cramp in my thigh muscle. I’m not talking about a little spasm in the calf, this is serious pain. It lasts ten minutes and that ten minutes is absolute hell. I can do nothing to relieve it. I have had to warn my neighbours because I scream with agony each time, but in every other way I have a high pain threshold, having had 3 children and one delivery with no pain relief.

TheFormidableMrsC · 29/07/2021 17:36

In no particular order :

Tooth abscess

Injection in toe prior to nail removal. God that was horrific.

Trapped wind (!). The pain was so intense my GP thought I had a burst appendix but it was just wind!

Childbirth

Migraine

Ear infection. The pain was unbearable.

I'm the same. That thigh cramp is the very worst pain.
Granville1 · 29/07/2021 17:38
  1. Child birth having been induced with the hormone drip and no pain relief
  2. Breastfeeding through blistered nipples
  3. Tearing my calf muscle

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Gall Stones

QueenoftheFarts · 29/07/2021 17:38

Apparently it was a kidney stone. Was barely conscious with the pain and then about 7 hours later it suddenly stopped. They said I had passed it but no boulder appeared in the lav and it certainly felt like a brick was passing through me.... worst experience ever.
