What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Gall stones, by a long way.

Childbirth (with zero pain relief) was much less painful for me.

Hagqueen · 28/07/2021 18:56

Gallstones/gall disease. Wished I was dead more than once during that time.

Redannie118 · 28/07/2021 18:56

Cluster headache
Sciatica

AnyOldPrion · 28/07/2021 18:56

Stuck baby, pancreatitis following leakage of bile from gall bladder.

willowtree81 · 28/07/2021 18:56

Childbirth I'm afraid. I was awestruck that the human body can feel such incredible levels of pain. But my births are extremely quick, so it might be that. (What I mean is, if you're pregnant, don't worry about this because I have loads of friends who found it manageable.)

Formaldeheidi · 28/07/2021 18:56

Burst ovarian cyst closely followed by impacted wisdom teeth.

Makes me feel faint just thinking about it.

Shodan · 28/07/2021 18:56

Toothache for me - a root canal filling kind of toothache. No pain relief touched it.

Tulips15 · 28/07/2021 18:56

Dc4 labour,
It wasn't bad considering so many I have heard of but that for me was painful.
Dry socket with jaw and gum infection on top was pretty awful too

Palava57 · 28/07/2021 18:56

Childbirth

Terrysmyorange · 28/07/2021 18:56

Burst ear drum was up there

Acappuchinoplease · 28/07/2021 18:56

Blood clot, felt like my leg might explode like a sausage

AllThatGlistensIs · 28/07/2021 18:56

A Lisfranc fracture of my foot.

I went through three births, all induced by drip and only gas and air for pain relief. I’d rather go through all three labours again back to back than that fracture.

The break snapped all the ligaments and tendons attached to the bone joint and my foot looked like it had gangrene, the bruising was so bad. On crutches for 8 weeks, then a boot for 12 weeks and it took a full year before I could try to go on tiptoe again. Worst pain I’ve ever experienced.

MonkeyPuddle · 28/07/2021 18:57

Back to back labour. Fuck me. Agony.

callmebettie · 28/07/2021 18:57

Kidney stones
I was pregnant when they started and genuinely thought I was having a very very traumatic early labour when I got the pains--- labour wasn't half as bad let me tell you

Pinkywoo · 28/07/2021 18:58

Slipped disc

Phyllis321 · 28/07/2021 18:58

A heavy wooden door shutting completely on my poor hand. It was decades ago and I still have the marks across my fingers. The only pain I’ve had where I burst into uncontrollable sobs.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/07/2021 18:59

Gallstones here too

Worse than a broken knee, and that was pretty shit too

Nicecupofteaandacake · 28/07/2021 18:59

Mastitis.

Period pains.

HeartShapedBalloon · 28/07/2021 18:59

Perforated eardrum due to infection.

plixy · 28/07/2021 19:01

C section where they couldn't get my organs back in the right place.
My husband is traumatised from watching me being pushed up and down the table while they shoved my intestines back in.

CasaBonita · 28/07/2021 19:02

Back to back birth with no pain relief. Good god, I wanted to die.

ineedaholidayandwine · 28/07/2021 19:02

Contractions in the run up to birth (then had an epidural as they were worried i might need an emergency c section, so never felt the crowning/episiotomy part)
Followed by laser tattoo removal. Damn that hurts!

XenoBitch · 28/07/2021 19:03

I accidently shut a car door on my thumb. Door clicked closed too. I fainted twice from the pain. I was meant to meet friends in a pub, and the bouncer would not let me in as he thought I was drunk. Got in eventually and sat with my thumb in a glass of ice water for most of the night.
Close second was a tooth abscess. My face swelled up too. Bloody horrible (am now touching all wooden objects in reach... I don't want another!).

Immaculatemisconception · 28/07/2021 19:03

I've had three children, really bad toothache, gall bladder disease, a trapped nerve in my shoulder - that was really bad - but the worst pain has to be thigh cramp. It's excruciating and there's nothing I've found which stops it, until it stops.

sofiathe2nd · 28/07/2021 19:03

Childbirth, mainly because the pain went on for days.

Also, infected tooth extraction site was pretty awful
