What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?
@Kinsters they tried for an hour with only gas and air it was coming out in clumps. I insisted on a spinal and eventually got one and it took another 45 mins to get out! It's just hell on Earth isn't it. I'm
Considering TTC #2 and am so scared of this happening again. We have a high chance of it happening again apparently.
Oh god that sounds awful. I don't know how long mine took but I don't think it was anywhere near that long. Did it still hurt with the spinal? My plan was to insist on a spinal if it happens again. I was told an epidural doesn't work in the right nerves or something but wasn't sure if a spinal would..

MagicSummer · 29/07/2021 12:16

An infected sebaceous cyst in my breast. It felt like a million hot needles every time I moved - I was in floods of tears all the time. When it burst it was like a fountain of molten pain. Needless to say, I had it removed!

MagicSummer · 29/07/2021 12:20

And gout - pure agony!

eandz13 · 29/07/2021 12:27

@Kinsters I'd had an epidural too, I dread to think of what it would have been like without one. I felt absolutely everything, I felt the surgeons fingernails scraping against my insides. At one point I asked for a breather and asked if I could have any other pain relief for it... they all looked at each other as if to say 'ffs' and said 'well, it would have to be a general and we're nearly done..' so I let them continue without anaesthesia thinking they'd be 5 mins or so. 25 mins later... Angry
I'm pregnant again too and dreading it happening again!

Squaffle · 29/07/2021 12:57

Childbirth, closely followed by post lumbar-puncture headache.

wigglerose · 29/07/2021 13:12

Ovarian cyst/twisted fallopian tube. Dear God I was vomiting, writhing and moaning with pain.

hulahooper2 · 29/07/2021 13:14

Gall stones , much worse than child birth

Oh wow! Ok, I feel like I got very lucky then as mine was so quick. Couldn't imagine withstanding that pain for longer than I did. I can't really remember it that well tbh but just remember the sound of someone (ie me) screaming in agony.

LakieLady · 29/07/2021 14:03

@quizqueen

Knee replacement, sciatica and impacted wisdom teeth. Childbirth comes fourth after those as it doesn't last for that long.
Oh no! I'm waiting for a partial knee replacement.

I wonder if will hurt less because it's only partial?

spiderlight · 29/07/2021 14:08

Palindromic arthritis. I had a year or so of it flaring up in random joints for days at a time. My hips were the worst - impossible to get even remotely comfortable even on high-strength codeine and anti-inflammatories. My 19-hour back-to-back labour pales in comparison. I've had migraines that were worse than labour as well, but none as bad as the PA.

santabetterwashhishands · 29/07/2021 14:11

Ovarian cyst 😳I thought I was dying

CrotchetyQuaver · 29/07/2021 14:14

Ear infection I think, although sciatica pain had me in tears of pain a couple of times which didn't happen with the ear infection.

CornflowersInTheLongGrass · 29/07/2021 14:18

Frozen shoulder

CornflowersInTheLongGrass · 29/07/2021 14:20

@CornflowersInTheLongGrass

Frozen shoulder
Should add that is closely followed by back to back labour and neuralgia
SunSunSunshine · 29/07/2021 14:20

Punctured lung. It was horrendous

SunSunSunshine · 29/07/2021 14:21

But saying that Migraines come very close with pain.

Mooloolabababy · 29/07/2021 14:24

Gall stones. Never felt pain like it!

FuckingFabulous · 29/07/2021 14:31

Manual removal of placenta with zero pain relief. I almost had an out of body experience, the pain and trauma was so bad. I could hear horrific blood curdling screams and the sound of what I thought was water pouring and splashing onto the floor and I thought "I wonder who that is?"

Then my brain just registered that my throat hurt, my chest felt like it was being crushed and as if it was in little steps to protect me, i sort of came back in to realisation that there was a white hot pain in my vagina and abdomen, someone clawing away inside me and the sound was my blood hitting the floor and my own screams. I was bleeding to death and I'm allergic to anaesthetics. They decided they couldn't read my chart to find out what pain relief I could have, I guess. They saved me from bleeding out but have also given me terrible flashbacks and nightmares for the last decade and a half.

MarrymeTomHardy · 29/07/2021 14:58

Expulsion of retained tissue 3 days after an ERPC...
C-Section where baby took 18 mins to get out & surgeon had to kneel on me to drag baby out & my epidural had fallen out...
I only have one child Hmm

Curlycupid · 29/07/2021 15:00

Gout flare ups - excruciating pain in the joints of my feet, ankles or knees and makes me unable to walk for 2 - 3 weeks, followed by
Tooth pain following a root canal - I had an infection and I couldn't sleep for two days because of the pain, followed by
A perforated ear drum

rubyandbel · 29/07/2021 15:01

Tooth abscess. Given birth 6 times so can't be that bad lol

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 29/07/2021 15:03

When DS2 was born he had massive shoulders, which got stuck, and he wriggled to get out and gave me friction burns. I just said this out loud and he, now nearly 10, said "Sorry, Mummy!" Grin

Motherofalittledragon · 29/07/2021 15:22

Gallstones, I'd take childbirth over that any day

FluffyBlueJumper · 29/07/2021 15:26

Gallstones too. And I gave birth 4 times without ANY kind of pain relief.

ItsSnowJokes · 29/07/2021 15:45

When my ear drum burst from an infection. If I could have taken my head off I would have done. It came in waves like contractions and was the most severe pain, until it burst and blood poured put but the worst pain stopped as well when that happened. Then I was just left with normal ear ache. I think I have a strong ish pain threshold but I just wanted to die with this pain.
