Designer bag-not tacky

Shushimwatchingemmerdale · 27/07/2021 22:43

I really want a special bag, a piece I can keep forever-designer but classy, not showy or tacky. I’ve never had this before. I’m thinking soft leather, definitely not shiny or brand new looking and quite large to use everyday
Is if just shallow and a waste of money?
Any ideas?

Go for it!

I'd suggest mulberry! On the higher end that not everyone has one but not throw the roof crazy expensive.

Blankspace4 · 27/07/2021 22:45

Yes to a mulberry. Very classy and they don’t date

Anon9990 · 27/07/2021 22:47

Another vote for mulberry here!

purpledagger · 27/07/2021 22:47

What about a tote bag like a LV neverfull or a Mulbury Bayswater tote?

Wanderlust20 · 27/07/2021 22:50

Mulberry.

Shushimwatchingemmerdale · 27/07/2021 22:50

My extrovert friend has a Valentino, my quiet friend has a miu miu.

Not sure if relevant, but live abroad in a mainly hot climate. The bag will be for daytime use

Definitely not mulberry. Honestly..

What's your budget?

Ireolu · 27/07/2021 22:51

Loewe or bottega. Happy shopping

AdriannaP · 27/07/2021 22:52

No to Mulberry too. Especially not if you don’t live in England. Go for Italian or French (LV, Valentino, Chanel if you can afford it)

SunscreenCentral · 27/07/2021 22:53

It's definitely relevant

Ireolu · 27/07/2021 22:53

My experience with Miu Miu is not great. One broke within 6 months of owning and had to be sent to Italy to be repaired.

NYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYN · 27/07/2021 22:53

Not mulberry

There are several kids at my daughters school with mulberry as school bags. They are no longer "that luxury item" anymore.

What is your budget??

Essentialironingwater · 27/07/2021 22:54

What's your budget? Quite pricey but Fendi Peekaboo is lovely, a bit different from the mulberry which is nice but very popular. Or the Chloe Faye.

Shushimwatchingemmerdale · 27/07/2021 22:55

@SunscreenCentral Why not?

Am thinking Mulberry bags are beautiful, but too structured for my life, nicer for when I was working (currently year at home with toddler daughter)

Definitely want large and roomy and soft leather, very simple, no added shiny bits. The kind you just sort of throw around and they retain the slouchiness..won’t be throwing it around though 🤣

Budget maybe around 1500, def can’t do higher at the moment

What’s your age and style and budget? IMO mulberry is very dated.
Sounds like a tote you are after rather than cross body?

DoolallyLully · 27/07/2021 22:56

Go for something from a smaller independent designer. Mulberry et al are mass produced and I don’t see them as classy.

Budget?

doubleshotespresso · 27/07/2021 22:56

Not Mulberry no

Loewe do some beautifully soft totes, really timeless and quality is great.

Shushimwatchingemmerdale · 27/07/2021 22:56

@AdriannaP Yes, I don’t think Mulberry suits where I live or my lifestyle, would be lovely back in the U.K. though

Of the Mulberrys I like the iris best (chalk green) but it is ££££ and way way out of my remit.

WoodPell · 27/07/2021 22:57

I'd go Loewe too.

SunscreenCentral · 27/07/2021 22:57

Mulberry is tacky. Bad buy

Nextchapterofmybook · 27/07/2021 22:58

The LV Damier Neverfull is always a classic. Chloe do some great slouchy shoppers.
Don’t be afraid of second hand, I get a lot of mine through the handbag clinic.

Shushimwatchingemmerdale · 27/07/2021 23:00

@Nextchapterofmybook Early 40’s, casual, simple dress (mainly to do with where I live) not keen on getting dressed up/fussy clothes..like fairly simple but trendy clothes

Mulberry is the new Burberry Grin

Shushimwatchingemmerdale · 27/07/2021 23:00

Is 1500 a good budget or nowhere near enough?
