How many duvet covers do you own?

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:15

Not a TAAT but obliquely inspired.

I own 3 but only use 2. None are themed in any way, quite plain.

So you have themes? Seasonal duvet covers? Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid?

Doubles - maybe 6 ? For 2 beds. 1 is very threadbare and needs to be retired but is also my favourite. Very sad. 3 are shades of grey. 1 is white, an experiment which failed, can't keep them clean. 1 is a blue and white Aztec pattern. 1 is an inherited red set that I dislike. Grey is the best, doesn't show marks like white, neutral and goes with everything, can jazz it up with a throw very easily.

Singles - 4. Had the same 2 for 4 years (identical, 1 on and 1 spare) but recently got another identical pair on sale because they were such a bargain. For 1 bed. Blue patterns for DC1.

Only ever 100% cotton. I despise polycotton. However it has the advantage of stopping me buying new covers..

Iwantatrio · 27/07/2021 23:41

5 or 6 for DP and my bed. My kids beds have only two sets each at the moment as we recently redecorated and they got new coordinating sets and cleared out older ones.

Iwantatrio · 27/07/2021 23:43

Oh plus one Christmas set for our bed and two Christmas sets for their beds. I put one set on the week before Christmas then change them Xmas Eve.

Redact · 27/07/2021 23:45

Two sets per bed, nothing seasonal.

nanbread · 27/07/2021 23:47

@MrsEko

Two. Not themed. 🍁

My MIL buys new curtains twice a YEAR. She thinks we are a disgrace as we have had the same ones for ten years. She's always encouraging us to buy things. It's the only thing she is really interested in.

Shock
nanbread · 27/07/2021 23:48

Think we have 4 or 5 sets but generally use 2 of those on rotation. Others are a bit worn and we should probably throw them out.

nanbread · 27/07/2021 23:49

And no, definitely no themed ones here. Personally I think it seems quite wasteful having a whole bedding set you'll only use once a year for a short amount of time.

Chouetted · 27/07/2021 23:59

About 5. They cheer me up and spares come in handy in case of sweating or leaking. I also double up on duvets during really cold winters.

QueenBee52 · 28/07/2021 00:10

Literally loads... I change them often and love the wonderful patterns and colours ... seasonal and festive ones too.. love a crips clean bed 🎉🌸

Bellend101 · 28/07/2021 01:45

4 cotton sets and 1 fleecy Winter set for me and 3 cotton sets and 1 fleecy set for DS.

Asherline · 28/07/2021 01:56

@Aroundtheworldin80moves do you have a duvet each every night? If you do how do you make up the bed? X

pollywollydoodler · 28/07/2021 02:13

2 for each bed. What's the point of any more? 🤷🏼‍♀️

avamiah · 28/07/2021 02:29

I have 2 for each bed also and that’s too many .
Unless you have a lot of extra space or a “duvet room” then what’s the point.

QueenBee52 · 28/07/2021 02:58

I just rotate them.. wash them put them in the linen cupboard .. 🌸

GertietheGherkin · 28/07/2021 03:09

@Faranth

Approximately 487. I use two.

I decide on a colour scheme and get two that go with it. But I keep the old ones just in case

In case of what, I'm not entirely sure. National duvet cover shortage? 200 unexpected overnight house guests? Who knows. All I know is I genuinely can't fit any of my current use towels or sheets in my airing cupboard because it's full of 'just in case' linens. Blush

I don't feel so bad now 😁

I haven't got quite as many as you. 🤭

GertietheGherkin · 28/07/2021 03:15

@VeryLongBeeeep

Too many! Maybe about 10 or 12 for two beds. The bedrooms are both pretty neutral so I like to add a splash of different colours with the duvet covers...buying them in sales is something of an addiction of mine Blush

As for storage, I have a blanket chest at the bottom of one of the beds.

I'm wondering if we should establish a duvet cover addiction society?

My name's Gertie, and I'm a duvet addiction Gherkin 😲

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 28/07/2021 03:15

6 sets, one is seasonal. DC have 3 sets each one is seasonal.

speakout · 28/07/2021 06:28

2 for each bed. What's the point of any more?

As some have pointed out for temperature comfort.
I find normal cotton too cold in winter, I like the heavier brushed/flannel type duvet. In summer brushed cotton will be too wrm.

Angel2702 · 28/07/2021 07:22

Lots 8-10, lots of themed ones which I know is seen as tacky on here.

About to get my seaside one out.

All stored in bottom of wardrobe. Don’t tend to get rid unless they are damaged.

OldTinHat · 28/07/2021 07:54

About 50 billion and breeding more for my two DS who left home three years ago, most are threadbare and I don't have a single bed here so they're just clogging up the cupboard!

IonaLeg · 28/07/2021 09:32

All bedding in my household is plain white, probably about 6 sets in total.

lljkk · 28/07/2021 09:58

"My name is and I'm a duvet* hoarder"

  • definitely my kind of group.

*replace with sock/paper/string... when required

Mrsmadevans · 28/07/2021 15:49

Might need them in case there is a war and you have to Rip them up for bandages/use as towels/dusters/paint sheets/nappies/toilet paper/tea towels/curtains /knapsacks on a stick in a case of awandering minstrel l. You name it, l can find a reason not to
throw them out/give to charity/stop buying the bloody things in the first place ! 🙄😞

Mrsmadevans · 28/07/2021 15:50

Also Menstrual pads 😂😂😂
