How many duvet covers do you own?

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:15

Not a TAAT but obliquely inspired.

I own 3 but only use 2. None are themed in any way, quite plain.

So you have themes? Seasonal duvet covers? Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid?

We have three sets…enough to still be able to put a new set on if we’ve been lazy and not washed the last set!

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 27/07/2021 19:39

@Livebythecoast really?

@Myusernameisnotmyusernameno Grin no! I'm isolating as my DD has covid and I'm so BORED. I actually have about 3 duvet covers, nothing exciting either, just regular boring patterned ones 😔

kowari · 27/07/2021 19:45

Two singles and two doubles (two per bed). Usually wash on a weekend morning and put back on that night so I don't have to fold them.

NotMyCat · 27/07/2021 19:46

About 15 super king size Blush
My favourites are M&S comfortably cool and joules

joystir59 · 27/07/2021 19:46

8 for three beds

IdblowJonSnow · 27/07/2021 19:48

Two sets, not seasonal or themed Grin

I will admit to perusing Christmassy bedding, however we have zero storage space so I've resisted so far! Blush

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 27/07/2021 19:52

Far too many and I'm too embarrassed to admit to myself how many let alone anyone else Grin

thatllberight · 27/07/2021 19:53

One each for spring, summer, autumn and winter. One for Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine's Day themed. One for Mother's Day and another for Father's Day. Special birthday bedding. Special bedding if someone has a test, job interview or doctors appointment. HTH

kowari · 27/07/2021 19:53

@CorrieALanus

Ooh so when do you crack out the Christmas ones then? Same day as the tree? And when is it back to plain usual duvet? Not tempted with an autumn duvet cover or two?
If I was to buy a Christmas set it would be more winter or yuletide themed and we would use them from early November to early February (all remaining winter decorations are taken down by Candlemas). The tree is outside in a pot so only comes in from around the 21st to twelfth night.
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/07/2021 19:54

Two sets per bed, plus a Father Christmas one for the double bed Gdcs shared a couple of years ago.
Nothing themed, just patterns I like.

Thehop · 27/07/2021 19:55

We’ve all got 2 sets. Mine and dh are both plain white. I’m a creature of habit.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 27/07/2021 19:56

@Livebythecoast ha ha. I thought it was funny just didn't want to laugh if you were being serious Grin

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 27/07/2021 19:57

@Livebythecoast hope your dd is better soon by the way.

Wrenna · 27/07/2021 20:01

None, I don’t understand them! I use a top and bottom sheet and a blanket if I need one. What do i do in hot weather, not have anything cover me - or have one on and roast, or do I use a top sheet separately with them? I genuinely don’t know!

MeadowHay · 27/07/2021 20:02

I think we have 4. And DD has 3. We have a sofa bed in the spare bedroom which is has like a chaise longue section that then lifts up and has storage space under, we keep them all in there.

Nanalisa60 · 27/07/2021 20:04

Four summer cotton sets white, three winter brushed cotton all super king, spare bedroom two summer cotton sets one winter brushed cotton kings size. I just love nice bedding.

Moonface123 · 27/07/2021 20:06

I have about five, and swap them around regularly. I love them all.

Onthegrid · 27/07/2021 20:10

I have 3 duvets for my bed, and I think I now have 3 covers all white, as I had a radical overhaul of the airing cupboard not long ago as I could fever find anything. I ditched all the ones I kept just in case.
DH has at least 3 sets for his bed the match the room and are geometric designs which I hate, DD2 has 2 sets and currently DD1 has none as she doesn’t live here and took hers with her to her student house share.
I now need to confirm that I need to buy a set or 2 for that bed (maybe I should have kept the just in case ones!)

Chicchicchicchiclana · 27/07/2021 20:17

@Wrenna - if you don't understand duvet covers how are you with long division or tax returns?

A duvet cover is something you encase your duvet in and then you take it off to wash ( much like you do with your pillow cases) so you don't have to wash your duvet or pillows all the time.

If you don't use a duvet but prefer blankets, then you have a bottom sheet and a top sheet. The top sheet provides an easily washable layer between you and an itchy woolly blanket.

Cotton is much easier to wash and keep hygienic than wool/a duvet/a pillow.

Nanalisa60 · 27/07/2021 20:19

Bananalanacake

I really enjoy it when we go skiing in Europe, that you get a single duvet each on the bed, but I’m not sure I’d I would like it at home, I put superking bedding on my king size bed and king on the double bed , looks more luxurious.

OutOfTrousers · 27/07/2021 20:28

We have 2 per bed and rotate. Except for DD who has three but since she was given the character one has only used that one. Plus the two I had as a child which are the emergency spares.
How have I missed out on Christmas duvet covers? Know what to buy DH this year Grin

@Myusernameisnotmyusernameno - imagine if I had to change all those duvets covers!
Thank you very much for your good wishes for my DD Smile

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 27/07/2021 20:41

@Wrenna in hot weather I take it out of the cover and just have the cover. My mum always used top sheet and duvet which was normal then. All I knew but I couldn't do it now.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 27/07/2021 20:46

I had to go count. My bed x5 one is a christmas one though. Ds2 bed x6 and two are christmas themed, ds3 12 as he is 8 but sen and doesn't 'grow out' of things like ds2 has. 3 of his are christmas theme's. Eldest moved out beginning of year and took 4 sets with them, I bought a new set last week for them.
