How many duvet covers do you own?

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:15

Not a TAAT but obliquely inspired.

I own 3 but only use 2. None are themed in any way, quite plain.

So you have themes? Seasonal duvet covers? Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid?

One.

icelollycraving · 27/07/2021 20:51

Probably about 15, maybe more. My favourites are Clarissa Hulse. Ds has a Christmas one and recently asked for a birthday one which I couldn’t find.
They aren’t themed as such but are in the colour palette of the room they go in.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 27/07/2021 20:57

4 or 5 for my bed I think. I started out with two when I moved here, then over the years have picked up a few more just as I’ve seen and liked them. They live in the bottom of my wardrobe when not on the bed. Ds has a bunch of old kiddy ones in a cupboard (that I need to sort and donate) plus a couple that get used on rotation. I don’t have a tumble drier so need two sets per bed minimum.

Sexnotgender · 27/07/2021 21:00

3 for my bed. 2 I use as I don’t like the other one. Nothing seasonal.

TheHateIsNotGood · 27/07/2021 21:09

Too many and not enough
That's me in the corner

No airing cupboard

I've too many duvets
and said too much.

Thankfully no religion to lose but:

I could do with more duvet covers
and flat sheets and pillowcases too.

TheWernethWife · 27/07/2021 21:14

I own 10, have to step away from the bedding section in stores. There are so many nice ones.

Was eyeing up Habitat duvet covers in Sainsbury's today but resisted.

Conchitastrawberry · 27/07/2021 21:21

2 sets per bed. I put all the bedding inside one pillowcase and keep them in the laundry room. I have no extra sheets or pillowcases. My mum had an airing cupboard absolutely bursting with bedding. It drives me mad.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 27/07/2021 21:23

4… all the same.
2 king size for our summer duvet - one in use and one spare.
2 super king for our winter duvet - one in use and one spare.

I realise that is incredibly boring!

girlmama32 · 27/07/2021 21:27

We've just upsized our bed so currently have 2, I think we had 4 when we had a double bed. Nothing themed or pattered just plain colours that go with the decor.

Toddler DD has 3 for her bed.

speakout · 27/07/2021 21:35

4 for each bed . Like others I like to used brushed cotton in the colder months, and ofter winter or darker type patterns, feels cosier. No christmas themes though.
In summer it's light cotton and paler colours - feels cooler and fresher.
I don't mind winter themed covers, snow flakes/ fir trees/[polar bear etc, because they can be used all winter. Christmas ones would have very limited use surely?

user1471538283 · 27/07/2021 21:38

We have 3 sets for each bed. Nothing seasonal. Mine are white, patterned grey and grey and white. DSs are cream, light grey and dark grey. All the sheets are white. When it's cold I have the most beautiful baby pink snuggly.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/07/2021 21:39

Four summer sets, and three brushed cotton winter sets that we use on our bed. Fresh set each week on rotation. Another set of each that go in the spare bed which never has guests in, but DP occasionally sleeps in if eg I have the cold or he has been out on the lash and will snore horribly. We have a blanket box that bedlinen and towels are stored in.

Sgtmajormummy · 27/07/2021 21:40

At one time I had about 20 duvet covers for 6 single beds and 5? doubles for two beds. All price ranges from Ikea to Sanderson plus Christmas tartan.
Now I have about half that amount. Kept in my ottoman bed.

I also invented a pattern for two stuffed “doughnut” pet beds from one single duvet cover plus synthetic duvet. They would make a great gift and are easy to wash, dry and rotate for our new puppy.

Rainbowshit · 27/07/2021 21:58

2 sets per bed plus some the kids have grown out of (hello kitty/liberty and pirate) that I keep for when kids have friends over.

SciFiScream · 27/07/2021 22:18

I have 3 for each bed. One on, one in the wash and one spare. I also have a few random sets.

Of the sets we own (let's say it's around 14 in total) we've bought 2! The rest were gifts (wedding or children's bedding) or inherited.

Spidey66 · 27/07/2021 22:20

There are 2 beds in this house, a single and a king. Each bed has 2 covers, not themed. They are used till worn out /frayed and then replaced. Every 3 years or so I suppose.

woodhill · 27/07/2021 22:22

@Onthegrid

I have 3 duvets for my bed, and I think I now have 3 covers all white, as I had a radical overhaul of the airing cupboard not long ago as I could fever find anything. I ditched all the ones I kept just in case. DH has at least 3 sets for his bed the match the room and are geometric designs which I hate, DD2 has 2 sets and currently DD1 has none as she doesn’t live here and took hers with her to her student house share. I now need to confirm that I need to buy a set or 2 for that bed (maybe I should have kept the just in case ones!)
So do you and your dh have separate bedroom? Sounds quite nice in some ways
SunscreenCentral · 27/07/2021 22:28

@CorrieALanus

Ooh so when do you crack out the Christmas ones then? Same day as the tree? And when is it back to plain usual duvet? Not tempted with an autumn duvet cover or two?
A late bloom, a tad cunty but the judges have accepted it
KingdomScrolls · 27/07/2021 22:32

3 doubles for the spare room (and we used to have a day bed for extra guests), 3 toddler bed sets and 4 superking 2 normal cotton for summer, 2 brushed cotton for winter. Also some plain pillowcases etc that I just seem to have acquired over the years

Crankley · 27/07/2021 22:33

None. I hate duvets and use sheets and blankets.

MadeOfStarStuff · 27/07/2021 22:37

I think 11 or 12 Blush for my one bedroom flat

I’ve just accumulated them over the last 15 years and don’t throw them out because they’re perfectly fine, although I generally rotate between the same 2 or 3 constantly. They’re all patterned but nothing fancy, the older ones are from Argos, a couple from IKEA and several from Asda, one from a department store that was a gift.

I also have a blanket habit despite mainly using the same 2 blankets constantly

pontiouspilates · 27/07/2021 22:37

3 for each bed. No seasonal themes, just one on, one in wash and one spare .

hulahooper2 · 27/07/2021 22:47

7 , and one of them is a Christmas set

Rookie93 · 27/07/2021 23:19

About 8 for our bed, including one with stags and wreaths for Christmas and three for the guest bed. Love looking at duvet covers & sheets in the sales and usually buy something every year. Mainly not too patterned and to go with the room colours so white/cream/ grey. At least one is over 60yrs old, handmade with lace and embroidery by my Gran and Aunty and brought back from eastern Europe long before duvets became common in the UK. It gets rarely used, handwashed and is a devil to iron but looks stunning.

Cherrysoup · 27/07/2021 23:38

2 winter brushed cotton sets, probably 5 summer/normal ones. My Dh uses silk pillowcases, I use matching to duvet pillowcases. I tend to swap rooms at about 3am, my sleep pattern is terrible, so I need more duvet covers than the average couple, I imagine.
