To ask if anyone has been on come dine with me?

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 14:14

Isolating and binge watching couples come dine with me!

Would love to hear from anyone who has been on about what ifs really like behind the scenes!

Also.. if you were going to go on what would your menu be?!

I think I would keep it simple with:

Starter: sweet chilli king prawns and chorizo on a bed of rocket with home made bread.

Main: mozzarella and pesto stuffed chicken wrapped in Parma ham, with tendersteam broccoli and green beans and crushed roasted baby potatoes.

Desert: chocolate torte.

I'd be interested in that vegan meatball recipe too if you have one 😜

TheVampiresWife · 25/07/2021 15:36

I know someone who was on a celebrity edition as the guest entertainment at their party.

I'm veggie and would cook:

Starter - torn buffalo mozzarella, piccolo tomato, roast pine nut and basil salad (liberally drizzled with olive oil)

Main - roast gnocchi with black truffle pesto, roast mushrooms, red chilli and taleggio

Dessert - rose and champagne syllabub with cantucci

TheSlayer · 25/07/2021 15:38

The gnocchi sounds great. I'd give you at least a seven if done well.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 25/07/2021 15:41

I always thought I’d do a Christmas Day menu and have Father Christmas visit and maybe sing carols.

Staffy1 · 25/07/2021 15:44

I would have to do it at someone else’s house. Our kitchen isn’t fit to be on TV, and I can’t cook anyway (not that that stops some people).

LouLou789 · 25/07/2021 15:48

We knew someone who was on it and she said not only did it all go on for hours but they started out getting on well and were then subjected to a lot of “He said X about you” from the crew in order to create conflict.

If I was on it I would have my tea before I even set off to each person’s house 🤣

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 15:52

@TheSlayer whoops was meant to be walnut and watermelon! But I love beetroot so that could work.

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 15:54

@TheVampiresWife yum! I'd enjoy that!

Tiny beetroot tarts with watermelon, feta and mint salad.

Moussaka with homemade garlic and thyme foccacia bread and a tomato and basil salad or homegrown runner or broad beans.

Lemon posset with raspberries and shortbread.

Home made blackcurrant vodka.

All veg (except for the watermelon and garlic) would be grown organically in my garden if it was filmed now.

For entertainment I'd like to send them foraging but that's where I'd lose. So probably casino night instead.

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 15:57

Lol @ShitPoetryClub I'd rock in my 6 inch heels so would hate foraging... until I'd had 3 wines then I'd be living my best life Grin

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 15:58

Ah shit yeah entertainment...I'd either do charades or karaoke., this would probably be my downfall...

I know someone who was on the individual one and she went on to win. There were 3 reasonably matched people and one who was completley not on this planet. The editing made her look even worse than she was - scatty rather than bitchy and I think there was some storming off.
The family had to vacate the huse for the duration of the filming - at their own expense as I recall - but pets were allowed to stay. They were asked to have wardrobes etc accessible with some interesting items (hats and wigs type of interesting) available. Plus the garage was called into use for storage of the lights and equipment. The neighbours complained about the hugely bright lights blazing aware past midnight.
I dont think it was worth it as it was a very stressful week all round and the money she won didnt make up for the amount she spent .

I dont watch these type of programmes now. They are all about the arguments and nastiness. When they started( Im remembering the first series of big brother too) it was normal people doing a bit of enertaining and just seeing how they got along wth strangers. Cant be doing with the contrived situations.

Bollindger · 25/07/2021 15:59

We had friends who did it.
She foiled them by using a slow cooker for beef, it was still warm after a 3 hour retake.
She had a secret buffet set up so no one was starving, after the first person had their meal ruined by the TV people.
They all meet up for a long weekend once a year. Someone else cooks.

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 15:59

Ah that's nice @Bollindger

You are welcome at mine anytime for casino night instead Smile

Starter:Cheese selection with a variety of homemade breads

I love cheese but on no planet is it a starter! How odd

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 16:04

Vegan meatballs... my vegan friend enjoyed them! And I thought they tasted nice!

But I did them in a tray bake with red onions and other Mediterranean veg rather than served with spaghetti!

@ShitPoetryClub happy days! I'll see you when I'm free from isolation!

Winter menu (for my fictional appearance)

Lentil dal, with homemade nigella bread.

Rich lamb stew with potato fondant and lightly steamed veg.

Sticky toffee pudding, I'd get my neice to make it for me.

Sloe Gin.

Yes and I’d decorate and get trimmed up. I’d have to borrow someone’s tree though.

TheRealMrsGrissom · 25/07/2021 16:07

Anyone remember this classic week 😁

To ask if anyone has been on come dine with me?
Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 16:10

I've actually applied for it earlier this year...I think applications close end of September so guess I'll hear if I've been successful in a couple of months or so.

At the moment the menu I'm thinking of is:

Carpaccio of Beef with anchovy dressing, sunblush tomatoes and rocket
Or
Beetroot Carpaccio with feta and candied walnuts (veggie)

*

Black truffle & parmesan risotto

*
Double chocolate creme brulee with fresh raspberries and langue du chat biscuits

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 16:15

I might have applied today...
