Isolating and binge watching couples come dine with me!

Would love to hear from anyone who has been on about what ifs really like behind the scenes!

Also.. if you were going to go on what would your menu be?!

I think I would keep it simple with:

Starter: sweet chilli king prawns and chorizo on a bed of rocket with home made bread.

Main: mozzarella and pesto stuffed chicken wrapped in Parma ham, with tendersteam broccoli and green beans and crushed roasted baby potatoes.

Desert: chocolate torte.

@NameChangeAgain2 I would serve a feta and watermelon salad with a balsamic glaze to start..

Main would be a hasselback halloumi tray bake with red onions in a rich tomato sauce served with the same side (potatoes all cooked with olive oil not animal fat).

That ok? 😉

I would hire a chef or get a posh takeaway.

Tinacollada · 25/07/2021 14:57

I love a come dine with me binge !

Does anyone remember the episode where the guy put asparagus and Hollandaise on his menu, ballsed it up and sent each guest home with a bunch of asparagus and a pack of powdered Coleman's sauce ?!?

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 14:58

Love it @Generalpost

DH received an invitation to take part on show. Everyone thought it was hysterical since he can just about manage beans on toast and a bacon butty. My BIL was quite put out since he would love to be able to showcase his kitchen skills ( which he very over rates ). He would have been perfect, total narcissist and massive name dropper.

Lunabunatuna

Was she from the North East by any chance ?
If so I felt really sorry for her and thought she was treated appallingly.

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 14:58

@Tinacollada no?! That sounds amazing 🤣

Love meat in this house.

Though surprisingly I was vegan for around 6 months a few years ago, and so I have some veggies options @NameChangeAgain2
I'm thinking falafel and chilli jam with the homemade bread for the starter.
And the main would be like a vegan lattice, I had a ready made one from tesco and it was amazing. Home made would be better! I've attached a picture.

To ask if anyone has been on come dine with me?
mutedrainbows · 25/07/2021 15:01

A friend of ours went on - he said you had to film the entering the house scenes at least 6x for each episode and he didn't finish filming until about 2am every night! He said it wasn't actually a great experience. But he also didn't score very well 😂

TheSlayer · 25/07/2021 15:02

I'd like to do it but without the filming haha. Just the challenge of cooking for strangers.
My menu would be:
Satay skewers
A taster of different curries: peanut, mango, tomato based and maybe Sri lankan inspired. I'd have to learn how to make naan though as I usually just buy them Blush
Either my gooey double chocolate cookies and ice cream or my chocolate lava cakes.

Chanel05 · 25/07/2021 15:04

Come Dine With Me is amazing!

Oh the meal was fantastic, couldn't be better, great host, angels playing harps in the background... it's a 4 from me.

I loved that episode! Grin I actually felt really sorry for him though, as the other guests were really po-faced about it - I’d have burst out laughing if someone had done that!

From memory he got the lowest score in the history of the show.

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 15:05

Lol @Chanel05 Grin

@Twitchynose it’s to do with clearence! There are always permission issues around using logos/ branding (ie a branded jumper) or music that isn’t cleared for use, or showing art that isn’t allowed to be shared in that way. It’s easier and cheaper to leave a patch on the wall than to spend ages blurring out an unclearable picture in the edit.

Curtains however I have no idea 🤣

BlueLobelia · 25/07/2021 15:22

My menu would be;

starter- homemade salmon mousse with cucumber compote (and a cucumber mousse for vegetarians)

mains- beef wellington with potato dolphin noise (to echo a pp ;) ) and greens and a mushroom wellington for veg

dessert - my mum's chocolate cheesecake with tinned mandarins in a grand marnier jelly on the top.

BlueLobelia · 25/07/2021 15:24

Does anyone recall the poor lady who got terribly drunk and had pet snakes who pooed on the table? I think she ended up oassing away a bit later. I think of her whenever i watch the show because it was clear she was struggling then.

hellcatspangle · 25/07/2021 15:28

@Mammyloveswine it's all stuff I've done before so I know I could nail it! I'd never go on it though, I couldn't bear the thought of people rummaging around my bedroom!

ElephantOfRisk · 25/07/2021 15:29

A relative of an in-law of mine was on the individual one. She should have one but one of the guests marked her down a lot for having essentially too filling a menu on the 2nd from last night. He went on to win and had served an equally large menu the next day! She wuz robbed!!

Mammyloveswine · 25/07/2021 15:33

I have a vegan option now too..

My full menu is planned..

Vegan option is feta and walnut salad on a bed of rocket with a balsamic drizzle.

Vegan meatball traybake in a spicy tomato sauce (same sides).

Dessert: apple and caramel tart but with a crushed biscuit base.

OP posts:
TheSlayer · 25/07/2021 15:35

Sorry, vegan here.
Vegans don't eat feta, no cheese. The vegan versions are a bit hit and miss.
Hypothetically I'd say swap the feta for beetroot or avocado and it's a winner.

Yes, it was hard to watch. I think she did pass away.
