To ask if anyone is actually enjoying this weather?

I have felt sick and tired all day. Can't get comfortable, didn't sleep last night etc. Is anyone actually enjoying it as I am certainly not. Dreading work tomorrow also.

An ambient temperature is around 20-25 degrees. That I like, it's 30 degrees I don't like (with humidity, no pool or beach, aircon etc).

Abraxan · 19/07/2021 08:30

Yes I love warm weather and it's so nice to get the odd day here where it's actually sunny and hit. It doesn't happen that often in reality - the odd few days each year at most.

I'm on school.holidays now too so,can enjoy it!

Even more pleased seeing as we can't go abroad for hot weather this year.

Abraxan · 19/07/2021 08:34

When it's cold you can snuggle up, hot water bottle, hot chocolate, fire, all things I personally love.

When it's cold my arthritis causes me pain, makes my joints so and leaves me needing painkillers all day; all things I really don't like.

Disneyblue · 19/07/2021 08:35

@U2HasTheEdge

Well, you can't 'snuggle up' all day and night can you?

Many people still have to get up early in the dark freezing cold to go to work and they have to do shit during the day which means they can't spend all their time snuggling up.

I find it harder to warm up than I do to cool down personally. I think it's probably my under-active thyroid. I get bone cold and putting on another jumper etc does very little to warm me up. Not so bad if I don't have to go anywhere but that rarely happens, so I spend most of the year feeling cold and shitty, even with appropriate clothing.

No, but you can put an extra jumper on?
Conchitastrawberry · 19/07/2021 08:37

Yes love it. During the day. The nights are horrible though.

Lockheart · 19/07/2021 08:54

@SoupDragon

Short and selective memories.

Like those who claim it's always lovely.

I don't claim it's always lovely. It's patently not always lovely. I do claim we have increasingly warm weather and more extreme heatwaves, which is borne out by data and which is not normal for the UK.
fibeee · 19/07/2021 08:55

I’d enjoy it more if my toddler slept better in it. Being up several times a night with a grumpy, overtired child and having a day’s work to do the next day isn’t great.

whynotwhatknot · 19/07/2021 11:52

oh holdon let me get my permanent supply of ice lollies out

colouringindoors · 19/07/2021 11:53

I am really struggling with the heat today. Massive headache, feel absolutely boiling despite drink iced drinks and lying in room with cold flannel on chest. My body feels like it's massively overheating Sad

I admit I'm feeling off-colour today. Hard to tell if it's a result of a sleepless overly hot night and tiredness combined with current overheating, the start of the dreaded covid, or another bug.

We yomped 500m up a fell today. Pretty sweaty, but worth it for the beautiful views and the breeze at the top. Bit hotter than ideal for hiking, but certainly not enough to make us sit inside or in the shade with a cold drink!

DelphiniumBlue · 19/07/2021 16:41

In London, it's horrible.Yesterday was 34 in the shade in the garden.
I find sweating makes me very itchy, it's miserable. I can't do anything, underwear of any sort ( touching my skin) is making me itchy, can't really go outside the house without underwear, but then chub rub. Add insect bites making me even more itchy. It's a nightmare that is set to last until the weekend.

Maggiesfarm · 19/07/2021 16:44

I'm drinking a lot of water. I had a short sleep on the sofa earlier this afternoon which was pleasant. I don't feel too bad but I haven't been anywhere or done much.

skybluee · 19/07/2021 16:49

I like it.
I'd probably prefer it to be 20-25C than 31C as it is right now, but I prefer this to the cold.

While I'm not keen on sweating, I'd take that over feeling ill/bone chillingly cold. In the winter when I used to try to go outside for walks, I'd start shaking when I went outside and just generally feel so unwell. It would suck the pleasure out of it, and I wouldn't ever get warm.

My whole body feels different right now, muscles relaxed, no time pressure on going outside/trying to get inside as fast as possible.

It's bright, nature is everywhere, birds, the vegetation is alive, everything is in bloom. As opposed to deserted, desolate icy misery.

RampantIvy · 19/07/2021 16:55

Living on the edge of the Pennines we don't usually get the stuffy heat you get in cities. Although I tolerate heat very well I wouldn't like to be in London in 34 degree heat.

This is the one time of year when I don't mind my lack of curves.

Currently it is a breezy 27 degrees where I am.

LadyCatStark · 19/07/2021 16:58

Yes I love it!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/07/2021 17:06

I'm loving it, we're on summer holidays now so I'm just sitting in the garden reading and regenerating the lemonade on a regular basis. Though the cat and I did have a long sit in front of the fan after lunch when it was really sweltering out

SmokedPaprikaHotChilliPowder · 19/07/2021 17:07

I absolutely hate it. I can't wait for autumn. I honestly cannot fathom those who roast themselves in the sun. Two of my sisters do it. I'm sat in the shade, hiding from the heat and they are both there, oiled up etc.

Was going to take my Dd to the park today. Could not face it so had to bribe her with an ice pole and a flump Grin

She insisted on snuggling up on the sofa and it felt like my leg was on fire.

30 degrees. I’m outside with a cold beer.

Bliss!

Itstheprinciple · 19/07/2021 18:38

I hate it when I have to work. It is summer holidays though so just taking everything slow.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 19/07/2021 19:02

Yes, loving it. Nice to have the sun seeing as though we aren’t going away. Am hoping it lasts.

LemonRoses · 19/07/2021 19:06

Love it. The old part of the house stays cool regardless of external temperature, so fine to work in.
Finished a bit early then went with my husband and dog for a delicious swim in the sea. Warm, calm, clear water. Just heavenly.
