I have felt sick and tired all day. Can't get comfortable, didn't sleep last night etc. Is anyone actually enjoying it as I am certainly not. Dreading work tomorrow also.

Difference is when it's hot there's only so much you can do to cool down

Fan. Fewer, looser clothes. Frozen hot water bottle. Ice cold drinks. Basically the opposite of the things you do to keep warm.

AutumnColours9 · 19/07/2021 00:38

I hate it

EatAllDay · 19/07/2021 00:40

I honestly think I’m allergic. My skin & blood go mental in the sun. I get heat rashes and weird bumps on my arms. I have very thin hair so I have to wear a hat. I usually have shades on. Long sleeves work best. So I just generally feel v in comfortable in warm weather! Then I feel guilty for staying indoors or in the shade

EatAllDay · 19/07/2021 00:45

@MrsMop1964

Hate it.. I have polymorphic light eruption and sun exposure can lead to misery so I tend to stay in a lot anyway, but I also work in a kitchen which is hot all year round.
I have that skin condition too!! Nightmare
HollaHolla · 19/07/2021 00:48

Loving it. Even though I have menopausal hot flushes, and night sweats.
Makes me feel less deprived about not going abroad this summer. 😎
Put on lighter clothes, get a fan for nights, eat some ice lollies. Lush.

Rainallnight · 19/07/2021 03:48

If it was just me, I’d be just about ok with it, as I could sit in the shade with a book, etc. But my DC were so grumpy in the heat today and looking after them was incredibly hard work.

So I vote no!

Then again, I remember when it was freezing in January, I was complaining bitterly about spending so much time outside in freezing lockdown and wishing for summer. So maybe I’m never happy. But I think I had something more temperate in mind. 21 degrees would suit me perfectly.

Furries · 19/07/2021 04:20

South-East dweller here, it’s generally seen as the driest part of the Uk.

It has been shite this year, like permanent autumn with just a few really good days since spring.

This weather has been blooming lovely, a much need tonic and lift of the soul.

Please, let us have at least 2 weeks in total between now and end of September. I’ll be happy with that.

sbhydrogen · 19/07/2021 04:42

I love this weather!

TeeBee · 19/07/2021 05:29

Loving it. My teenagers constantly down the beach and my garden looking it's best.

Vates · 19/07/2021 05:59

Hate it with a passion! I adore Spring, Autumn and Winter though. I am patiently waiting for the corner shop to open so I can get some iced coffee. Also came on during the night so woke up a sweaty mess with cramps.

malificent7 · 19/07/2021 06:00

Love it! Best chill out weather.

noblegreenk · 19/07/2021 06:14

No. It's far too hot. The weather meant my neighbours had a party in their garden until 12.30am so couldn't sleep because it was so hit I had to jave the windows open. I had to be up for work at 5.30. Got woken at 5am by 3 wasps that had flown in threw the bedroom window as well. It's not been a good night at all and I'm working 7-5pm! At least I'll been in an air conditioned office today though.

Camomila · 19/07/2021 06:19

I love it - my DC ended up swimming in the sea in their clothes yday. It was lovely - I hope it lasts at least a couple of weeks once the DC are off school.

speakout · 19/07/2021 06:36

Not particularly hot.
I was in rural SE Asia for a year, temperature rarely dropped below 33 degrees, even in monsoon season.
I haven't been too hot in the UK ever.

SalsaLove · 19/07/2021 06:42

I love the heat. It makes me feel rejuvenated and happy. And It’s cleared up my slug problems.

elsaesmeralda · 19/07/2021 06:49

I like it but can't sit in it all day, short bursts. As others have said, I can handle it on holiday whilst sunbathing as every 15 mins or so once you've got so hot you have to move you can just get in the pool and cool off.
I wish I lived by the sea atm !!

Flidina · 19/07/2021 07:07

Can't tolerate the heat anything above 20 and I'm melting! Have invested in an aircon unit for my bedroom, it's bliss, at least I can sleep, roll on the cooler weather.

minimoomoos · 19/07/2021 07:14

God yes, we are at the beach all day! All week actually, swimming, kayaking, rockpooling, relaxing with family/friends and bbq's too. The kids are having a blast! 🙌

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 19/07/2021 07:20

I adore the heat so much I emigrated to Oz. My preferred temp is now 35 to 37, once it starts hitting 40 I still enjoy it, but only small dosed. We do have very low humidity though and a lovely cool afternoon breeze most days. But I do also have aircon, a pool and several beaches nearby. And all that sunshine makes my power bills practically zero in summer (love my solar panels!)

U2HasTheEdge · 19/07/2021 07:34

Love it.

It is only going to be 23c today though.

SpongeBarb · 19/07/2021 07:36

To be fair, I'd love hot weather too if there was no humidity, a beach, a pool, and aircon.

U2HasTheEdge · 19/07/2021 07:44

When it's cold you can snuggle up, hot water bottle, hot chocolate, fire, all things I personally love.

Well, you can't 'snuggle up' all day and night can you?

Many people still have to get up early in the dark freezing cold to go to work and they have to do shit during the day which means they can't spend all their time snuggling up.

I find it harder to warm up than I do to cool down personally. I think it's probably my under-active thyroid. I get bone cold and putting on another jumper etc does very little to warm me up. Not so bad if I don't have to go anywhere but that rarely happens, so I spend most of the year feeling cold and shitty, even with appropriate clothing.

SpongeBarb · 19/07/2021 07:49

I get bone cold too (and sympathise, my DH has an allergy to turning up the heating) but still dislike very hot weather. I am basically never happy Smile

RampantIvy · 19/07/2021 07:59

I don't think heat haters understand that those of us who really feel the cold need the ambient temperature to be warm. An extra jumper or a hot chocolate just doesn't cut it if you are chilled to the bone.

GlumyGloomer · 19/07/2021 08:00

I used to be fine with hot weather, as long as I was free to lounge around doing not much. Either working or running around after small grumpy children makes it miserable. Mid twenties is my happy place.
