Reporting someone for failing to isolate

WouldYouShouldI · 17/07/2021 00:44

Under what circumstances would you report someone for failing to isolate? Would you report any breach, no breach, or would it depend on circumstances?

I've been told by a friend that a family member of theirs (should be isolating because someone they live with has tested positive) is not isolating, and is even going out to work- and they work with vulnerable people in a medical environment!

Should I report them regardless of the possible consequences on my friend (who will be blamed if they get caught)? Or encourage my friend to do the same, again despite the consequences?

I'm torn!

This is how the Stasi operated. You don't have any actual facts here, it sounds very friend of a friend. The responsible thing is for us to do is to encourage the people we live with or are very close to to follow the rules. If you feel compelled to act tell your friend so she can pass the warning along the line.

@jihhy

Is that a flounce?
No, I'm just not engaging with @minatrina because as a general rule I don't deal with obtuse people
minatrina · 17/07/2021 11:18

@FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop you've not coherently engaged with anything I've said so I guess that makes sense 🤣

UKSub · 17/07/2021 11:19

@Indoctro had our vaccines and we’re all still really unwell so that doesn’t stand up.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 17/07/2021 11:19

@minatrina yes I have - you not agreeing with me doesn't mean I haven't coherently engaged. I simply object to people being faux "what do you mean" and making things up to suit their agenda.

But like I say I am disengaging with you do on that I will follow through 😘

sst1234 · 17/07/2021 11:20

Forget reporting them. Try getting out more yourself.

Disengage then if you want but I didn't make anything up and everything you've said has been tangential nonsense

So what do you think should happen.? All elderly and vulnerable are double jabbed

Do you think we should have to isolate forever as covid isn't going to go away.?

I'm sorry but I think if you are double vaccinated and still catch it and die then so be it

What else can we do.? Nothing.! The world can't be expected to hide away forever

People need to accept it will still kill people

LunaMuffinTop · 17/07/2021 11:23

Why do people think that the vaccine stops you from getting it. It doesn’t they have said a million times the vaccine just means that if you do get Covid it won’t put you in the hospital that’s all the vaccine is for it’s not to stop anyone from getting Covid it’s more to relieve the pressure on the NHS but you can still get Covid even with both vaccines. I also wouldn’t report someone for not isolating my sister and her partner had to isolate because her partners daughter tested positive they where not eligible for the Test and trace support payment because they both earn so much so my sister is having to work extra hours to make up for the loss in earnings and her partner just has to suck up the loss of earnings because he’s a driver for a company that only does 9-5 hours so he can’t do more than he already does. Don’t report them Op it might be that they can’t afford to take the wage hit and all carers are temperature checked every day so they would know if they had got it.

@UKSub your situation sounds absolutely rotten. You must be so worried.

Ignore the pompous comments about your finances, not many people have contingency after contingency as you would need.

UKSub · 17/07/2021 11:28

@Indoctro wow. So fuck everyone else, as long as you can go to the pub? I will continue to isolate yes. I will wear a mask and keep my distance.

Drivingbuttercup1 · 17/07/2021 11:30

My brother works for the nhs and when his daughter tested positive they asked him to come in and tested him continuously so you dont know circumstances. My hubby was asked to be part of a pilot study when son tested positive where he was allowed back out of isolated as long as he did lateral flow tests.

jihhy · 17/07/2021 11:31

Drats, I thought i'd just witnessed my first one in the wild!

TSSDNCOP · 17/07/2021 11:40

@Indoctro what we are saying is that there is a middle way.

The vac means your chance of dying/requiring hospital treatment is reduced. Brilliant.

LFT mean you can track yourself daily. Crack on everyone, it should be as essential as cleaning your teeth.

Symptoms and PCR mean you isolate.

Depending on this study, those in contact with you LFT daily and go about essential business i.e not the pub and depending on your work.

We are rapidly coming up to a point where the NHS will have a staffing crisis due to the Pingdemic and after that we will segue into flu season again.

I feel, given the NHS handling of the pandemic, the information they now know and trials that are being undertaken they have greater understanding of their staff needs and vulnerable patient needs than the majority of posters here.

HalzTangz · 17/07/2021 11:44

You do know as from Monday you dont have to isolate.

Keep your noise out of what others do and focus on your own life

minatrina · 17/07/2021 11:46

Just so that no one gets misled, this isn't true. The proposed rule change to isolation is due to come into effect in mid-august I believe!
jihhy · 17/07/2021 11:49

Keep your noise out of what others do and focus on your own life

By that logic why are you still on the thread? You have said the same thing repeatedly but I don't think the OP has even come back today 😆

TSSDNCOP · 17/07/2021 11:51

I would like to ask though, are posters regularly taking LFT? I do think it is very irresponsible not to.

ImmyMc · 17/07/2021 12:31

I would do it. If you didn't, then people might die as a result of it.

LittleBearPad · 17/07/2021 12:37
@Indoctro had our vaccines and we’re all still really unwell so that doesn’t stand up.
Define unwell please

 • sitting on the sofa surfing Netflix with a blanket and cup of tea
 • in bed feeling ropey but able to breathe fine
 • on your way to A&E

Because there’s quite a range there and really only the last is a societal issue.

The first two will be gone in a week or so.

LittleBearPad · 17/07/2021 12:39

I’ve never taken one.

But I had covid in the winter.

Would I if hadn’t - probably not unless I had to because I wanted to go somewhere I was required to (event etc)

TSSDNCOP · 17/07/2021 12:44

only the last is a societal issue.

Silly. She has COVID. If she goes out she could spread it. Why do you think exactly lots of people died?

LittleBearPad · 17/07/2021 12:52

I didn’t say she should go out, did I Hmm

But there’s ‘really unwell’ I feel crap and don’t want to leave my sofa and there’s ‘really unwell’ I’m being blue lighted to hospital.
