To not want to see any adult who hasn’t had the vaccine

331 replies

Fthisshitimdone · 15/07/2021 23:15

I don’t feel like I want to hang out with anyone who has refused the vaccine. AIBU? It’s not only because I am worried they are carrying the virus it’s also because I resent them. I think they’re being selfish and also that they think they’re better than the rest of us!

@XenoBitch

YABVU

What makes you think you are so special that you are morally superior to your friends who have made a different choice to you?

They will be 100% better off without you.

But covid passports or employers' requirements are a separate issue. They're nothing to do with decisions we make about people we maintain contact with in our daily lives.

CuntyMcBollocks · 16/07/2021 14:36

There are a few people I know who can't have it for genuine medical reasons. How the hell is that selfish OP? Would you rather they become seriously ill or possibly die just to make you feel better?

ilovesooty · 16/07/2021 14:47

I'm not the OP but for me it's completely different if someone can't have the vaccine.

Chanel05 · 16/07/2021 14:49

Haven't RTFT but I'd love to know why you think you're entitled to the medical history of other people, why they would disclose this to you and (hopefully not) but why you think you'd have a right to ask.

UsedUpUsername · 16/07/2021 15:00

@Bbq1

They aren't being forced though are they? Hardly being held down and forcibly injected. Hoping that people will do the right thing to protect others (and first and foremost themselves) by getting a vaccination is in no way comparable to forced birth and donation of blood, organs and wombs. I don't actually undeei the point you are trying to make here when nobody is talking about forcing people to be vaccinated.
The point is that no one should be compelled to undergo a medical treatment that they don’t personally need for someone else’s benefit.

We don’t tell women to ‘do the right thing’ and give birth to children they don’t want. Lines have to be drawn somewhere with respect to human autonomy

I've already said that I wouldn't ask anyone.
mrssunshinexxx · 16/07/2021 15:22

This is going to do down like a shit sandwich @Fthisshitimdone
If you were pregnant would you rush off and get the vaccine ?

CustardCreamm · 16/07/2021 15:28

@Fthisshitimdone

I feel like I want them penalised. Like refused entry to everything and not allowed to travel

This is actually incredibly ridiculous. Get a life.

NotMyCat · 16/07/2021 15:30

@Chanel05 I have the right to ask because I'm CEV, and if someone doesn't want to tell me, that's fine but I'm advised not to spend time with unvaccinated people so they would have to accept that, and I can point them to read the guidance . My family are all vaccinated though so it's just friends

XenoBitch · 16/07/2021 16:05

@Parker231

I wonder how many of the unvaccinated will quickly change their mind if the U.K. brings in the same restrictions as France have just introduced?
No, I won't. It wont make my anxieties and phobia go away.
curlyLJ · 16/07/2021 16:09

Just wondering if you'd judge people in the same way for not having the flu vaccine? I mean, flu can be fatal too for vulnerable/young/old.

Also as a lot of others have said, how on earth are you going to know what every individual's vaccine status is?!

Horseyhorsey3 · 16/07/2021 16:10

So you're going to ask every shop worker, beauty therapist, bus driver, HCP etc their vaccination status?
Mental.

I don't know about you but I only spend 10 min in the shops and that is masked. Different from having someone over for dinner in your home who is unvaxxed, surely?

You do know that just because someone is unvaxxed doesn’t mean they have covid, right?

MareofBeasttown · 16/07/2021 17:02

@FiveToedSloth I know and studies confirm that it is far, far less likely.

XenoBitch · 16/07/2021 17:03

According to many on MN, not having the vaccine means you have Covid... you will spread it to vaccinated people and you will both suffer and die in ICU.
MareofBeasttown · 16/07/2021 17:05

Less likely for vaxxed people to have Covid I meant. Yes not unvaxxed ppl have covid but I cant tell which so they are not coming over for dinner.

Bbq1 · 16/07/2021 17:06

I think you're getting a hard time, Op. You said early on that your feelings didn't apply to people unable to have the vaccination so posters need to read the thread before thru jump on accusing you of including people cev etc.
The popular phrase on here appears to be "Their body, their choice" so Op just say to your potential anti vaxxer guests, "My house, my choice'. They should understand that perfectly.

MareofBeasttown · 16/07/2021 17:08

Gosh so many typos. Sorry. I meant not all unvaxxed people have covid but I can't tell which do and which don't. Nobody on here has said that all unvaxxed people have covid. All they have said is that vaxxed people are far less likely to catch it or pass it on. That is the plain truth. Therefore I am meeting my unvaxxed friends outside and none of them have had a problem with it.

Anonymous48 · 16/07/2021 17:09

I don't think you're being unreasonable, but as long as you are fully vaccinated that's what matters. They are risking themselves far more than other people. I have friends who haven't been vaccinated and I think it's selfish and ridiculous, but they're my friends so we don't discuss it. After not being able to hang out with them for over a year I'm enjoying being able to do so now, safe in the knowledge that I personally have done everything recommended by the public health authorities.

MareofBeasttown · 16/07/2021 17:11

Both my unvaxxed friends have not had the vaccine because they have health anxiety so I have told them that I am anxious about having them over to my house when my DH is CV. Seems perfectly fair to me and them. One is now going to have it because she wants to travel.

roarfeckingroarr · 16/07/2021 17:14

You are genuinely bat shit mental OP

igelkott2021 · 16/07/2021 17:17

I feel like I want them penalised. Like refused entry to everything and not allowed to travel

Do you think that for the flu and chicken pox vaccines too? If not, why not?

MarshaBradyo · 16/07/2021 17:18

France is a good option
