3 tween boys, idle but cute. Single mum. Their attitude towards me is increasingly disrespectful and rude. I’m sick of constant bargaining and shouting from them, and my picking up after them. I normally am on the permissive end of authoritative but I’ve had enough of talking and reasoning.

Hand hold?

@picklemewalnuts

So familiar! Ours was emma, lemma, pee. We also had eleven, twelve, thourteen, fifteen for ages.

DS1 is an IT systems manager, DS 2 (couldn't count) an accountant.

Hang in there.
I was, at various times, 'worse than the Dursleys' and ' Ugly old troll'.

They are gorgeous, loving young men now. This too will pass.

Mine did OK with the alphabet, but ds3 could not, for the life of him, remember the number that comes between 16 and 18. He just skipped it. I remember sitting in the car with him, working on remembering the elusive 17, and every time he remembered it, when counting to 20, he got a tic tac. 17 was the tic tac number for years!! Grin

Oh god, DS did this (diagnosed Asc and Dyspraxic, suspect ADHD, also)

Emma lemma pee, and the shuffling of numbers, and oh times table practice 😱. Not happy memories.

If you need a new game, we play the yes no game.
It's good as they don't have to spellcheck,
Is it alive... Yes.
Does it have 4 legs ... No
Is it a boy...Yes,
Is it me... Yes.
Person who win is next.
My DD did the fly on the outside of the car window.

I blame the commonest alphabet song, which is fine until L, M, N, O, P, which is sung in double time. I banned it in my classroom, and, as English lead, ultimately in my school.

Other, better, alphabet songs are available! If the song had room for the "Now I know my ABC..." verse at the end, it had room for those poor orphaned letters!

Sorry, off the point, but it makes me so cross that we handicap our children needlessly like that.

Well done, OP, you rock!
