There should be no England fans at final IMO

I cannot believe there is not more disgust at the actions of one (or more) English fan(s).

Aside from trying to cheat way to an England victory by distracting the goalkeeper during a penalty, lasers are phenomenally dangerous to eyes. The goalkeeper could have retinal damage.

I think a “lesser” nation would have been kicked out, but England won’t. But in my view the fans should be banned - there has to be consequences for criminal actions. Otherwise it will happen again.

Suspect I’ll be in the minority but it’s frankly embarrassing we have fans who do this.

The scenes at Leicester Square are expected. There is an advantage in not showing this stuff on TV, since it just encourages more of it.

So so so proud of the team, so so ashamed of lots of our supporters.

Fimofriend · 11/07/2021 19:08

Not much happened?
Let's go over the stories I (who don't care about football) has heard so far:
An English fan shouted "Fuck off you Danish bastard! at an 11 year old boy in the toilets.
Someone spat in the head of a seven-year old girl and some women
A Danish man got punched in the stomach
A woman had the hat pulled off her head so hard that she is now in treatment for whiplash
Stones thrown at several busses with Danish fans in them

Lockheart · 11/07/2021 19:21

There have been multiple breaches of security at Wembley. Hundreds of fans without tickets have stormed the gates, and have been fighting with police and stewards:

So yes, I'm inclined to agree - it should have been no fans, played behind closed doors.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.

Lockheart · 11/07/2021 19:23

It's actually like scenes from zombie apocalypse films. Except the zombies have been replaced by football fans.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 11/07/2021 19:24

Would the inappropriate contact be eye gouging and sexual assault perchance?

Players or fans are you talking about? Sexual assault and leg breaking equally prevalent in football players but fans? Not so much. That’s why they don’t separate supporters and beer is allowed in.

Difference is I would take young kids ( and have’) to a Rugby Euro and feel safe. And any on pitch trouble is sorted at the end of the match. Not a bloody chance would I take a child to Wembley.

notimagain · 11/07/2021 19:53

beer is allowed in.

Don’t know what the rules are at Wembley but FWIW beer was on sale in the ground (and also could be bought from vendors walking the aisles) at least one of this tournaments matches that England were involved in and England fans attended.

All very civilized and (gasp) world war three didn’t break out.

Come on England!!

wordsareveryunnecessary · 11/07/2021 19:59

Looking at the disgusting scenes right now

Unsoliciteddeckpic · 11/07/2021 20:22

From what I can see the kick off at the stadium was by people who did not have tickets. Not fans, that op would ban.

And I wonder if they are fans. Given they risked the game not happening at all.

I changed my mind too OP. I agree.
I cant believe the amount of people there, is covid gone, absolutely disgusting behaviour outside Wembley.

changeyourname11111 · 11/07/2021 20:46

Plus the booing every time Italy have the ball and during their anthem - awful Sad.

Because of course Italy fans and players have behaved impeccably 🙄
ForeverFloating · 11/07/2021 21:01

Obviously some English fans will be arseholes, there are arseholes in every country. Scottish
but backing England all the way tonight

Theonlyones · 11/07/2021 21:02

This is our own fans :(. Hopefully everyone gets home safely... After we win!

Theonlyones · 11/07/2021 21:03

An early afternoon kickoff is what happens other countries for certain games. But i guess this is dictated by TV viewership

Some women at home who would be better off without blokes like that making their way home tonight.

Really?
So as long as everyone else behaves badly that’s ok? FFS. That argument would not stand on amy other thread.

Also. Once again its reported as fans”and people” throwing stuff, breaking stuff etc. Overwhelmingly it’s men.which would suggest the problem isn’t football.

LizzieW1969 · 11/07/2021 21:12

There has always been the problem with ‘lager louts’, who previously regularly created mayhem in places like Ibiza and Benidorm. With travel restrictions due to Covid, and months of lockdown, this hasn’t happened, so the result is that their behaviour is worse than it otherwise would have been.

Their behaviour is obviously disgraceful and these factors don’t in any way excuse it, but it surely shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that there are thugs out in force tonight. Angry

There’s been a rugby premiership final at Twickenham, Wimbledon, the Tour de France and those fans don’t go around trashing stuff. Stop excusing poor male behaviour. It’s ridiculous. ,
EmeraldShamrock · 11/07/2021 21:30

It's the few sour grapes, they're spoiling the celebration for everyone else with their ugly mugs and aggressive nature.
Hopefully the police will round them up soon and allow everyone else get on with the fun.

Thats the problem... its expected and these thugs know they'll get away with it.

It shouldn't be, use tear gas, riot police and break it up, mass arrests.

But the Met is sitting back and doing SFA, unlike with the Sarah Evarad vigil.

Bullshit, they english fans smash anything up, because they can and its excused. Been doing it for decades.
LizzieW1969 · 11/07/2021 21:48

@Thewinterofdiscontent

I never said I was excusing it. I made that clear. The problem is, these lager louts always hang around football games. I remember the hooliganism of the 1989s only too well, I watched Heysel unfold on TV.

I mean, surely this trouble was only too predictable!!

LizzieW1969 · 11/07/2021 21:51

I’m not debating whether or not they’re genuine fans, the fact is they always turn up.

It was a bad idea holding the final at Wembley.

Tbf this was decided in 2014..I dont think they could suddenly have changed the final venue because England made it.
