There should be no England fans at final IMO

I cannot believe there is not more disgust at the actions of one (or more) English fan(s).

Aside from trying to cheat way to an England victory by distracting the goalkeeper during a penalty, lasers are phenomenally dangerous to eyes. The goalkeeper could have retinal damage.

I think a “lesser” nation would have been kicked out, but England won’t. But in my view the fans should be banned - there has to be consequences for criminal actions. Otherwise it will happen again.

Suspect I’ll be in the minority but it’s frankly embarrassing we have fans who do this.

@snoin

Amazing how defensive some of the England supporters here are! Completely unable to deal with anyone who doesn't support them, or dares to disagree with their opinion.

I've already got some nice Italian wine in.

Lovely don't choke on it now I'm sorry that Scotland rarely do well in international football but there is no need to be so bitter And for someone who really doesn't care about football or what others think, I find it strange you are on every thread about it 🤔

Lmao any other country would be defending themselves if they were receiving the vitriol that England fans are getting! I don't really care if other countries are jealous that we're in the final but I do care that non English fans seem to think we're all sat at home laughing and clapping at the booing, fighting and thinking we're wonderful for it!
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 11/07/2021 12:18

@LaserPointer

Yep. Only complete psychopaths don’t support England.

(Is it only England who gets so furious about the fact that many Non-English don’t support them? - I’m not aware of any other nation’s fans being so apoplectic in their response to people who don’t back them. Maybe chill out a bit?)

Oh do behave OP, that poster said the hatred is psychopath if not the people who don't support it. Do you genuinely not understand the difference or are you making things up to suit your drivel?
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 11/07/2021 12:25

But maybe the English football supporters should as themselves why so many non-English choose not to support them

Is this something we should be giving a fuck about?

Why do non-English need to support us? I don't support Germany and I doubt Germans are crying into their "kissens" over it

snoin · 11/07/2021 12:28

@x2boys I don't live in Scotland, and I couldn't care less whether they win, lose, draw or qualify. I never did care, and I never will.

But do keep flattering yourself by thinking it's a jealousy thing :)

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 11/07/2021 12:32

Let's just say what it is: some people who like to think they're middle class and a bit posh for football can't bear something so common and working class to be at the frothing of our nation's pride. They think places like France are rife with posh vineyards, and Italy with it's buildings and canals, and it's ever so embarrassing that something chavvy is what is representing our country at the moment. What would the French think of us 😱

Bovrilly · 11/07/2021 12:38

I'm not sure @LaserPointer is the quickest winger on the pitch, if you know what I mean.

Plenty of sports are chavy and working class ( in fact the idea of any sport as a livelihood is a bit common really, aside from cricket perhaps).

But I don’t see darts, motor racing, rugby league having a problem with bad behaviour or unsportsmanlike behaviour despite alcohol commonly being involved.

Rugby league is not the best example you could have picked tbh. And I think sports which do not involve teams are quite different.

Quite frankly I have no idea who supports England and who doesn't, outside the UK, and outside England. I don't ask and I am surprised that you have so many contacts and friends across Europe that you know exactly what everyone is thinking.

I had a work call with someone in Finland last week who said they were supporting England against Denmark but of course she might have had a call with someone in Denmark an hour later and said the opposite :)

Anyway people can refuse to support a team for many reasons -I am not sure as a non-football fan who happens to be English that I have to go into a long period of deep and meaningful navel gazing to decide why people don't want to support England. I don't support Portugal because I don't like Ronaldo. I try to support Wales but I don't like Bale. And most neutrals will support the underdog, which in this case is actually England.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 11/07/2021 16:45

@singingstones

If that’s the best examples of rugby violence I think you made my point for me. Also after every case there isn’t just condemnation and apologies but swift action.

Also did you read this in the last article?
Their chief executive, Davide Longo, says: “I’ve said for a number of years that this is creeping into our sport. We appear to have a movement of fans not getting into football games because of bans, and because you can still drink on the terraces in rugby league, it’s appealing. We’ve got to stop hiding behind the fact we’re a ‘family sport’ and tackle it.”

So not rugby fans but football thugs chasing beer and fights.

Lemonmelonsun · 11/07/2021 16:52

33 unbeaten matches, England is the under dog

I must admit I didn't put in the effort to find the best examples - you said you didn't see rugby league having a problem and I know it does, so just quickly found a couple of links. How about Inu's suspension after Hayne's imprisonment for sexual assault, is that football's fault too?

stoneysongs · 11/07/2021 16:56

Hmm 🤔
Swift action, you say?

The RFL’s investigation into what happened in Perpignan could, Rimmer says, take weeks to conclude. Only three players received suspensions after the game, leading many to question the governing body’s disciplinary procedures. Many believe supporters found to have been involved in crowd trouble should receive far more serious penalties.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 11/07/2021 17:23

Inu made a social media comment. This was about a NZ rugby league player in Australia (so not really relevant to working class U.K. sports).

A statement said: "Inu has been fined four weeks' salary and will be suspended from play for two months commencing from the original suspension day.

"Furthermore, Inu will be attending a mandatory education programme which is currently being developed in conjunction with the University of Salford.

Is that not fair enough?

Thewinterofdiscontent · 11/07/2021 17:34

If you want to look up disciplinary cases the differences are clear.
Rugby ones are related to the nature of game play - questions of inappropriate contact between players.

Football is mainly “failed to ensure that its players and /or club officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.” and insulting the ref.

Basically unnecessary and shit sportsman ship.

Bryonyshcmyony · 11/07/2021 18:04

I presume none of the holier than thou rugby fans have never been to a student union bar when the rugby is on Grin

Purely anecdotal but dd.says the football boys at uni are much nicer to girls than the rugby boys.

BrozTito · 11/07/2021 18:11

Absolutely fucking sick of the bleating. I voted to remain but just recently realising some truths from this pathetic bitterness. No comments at all about Hungarian/polish politics or actual fascists in italian support i see. I will support my country and will do more the more you piss n moan

RadioWASP · 11/07/2021 18:15

I really really hope we win tonight! We've been getting better every game, but it won't be easy.

ThatWayNoItsThatWay · 11/07/2021 18:33

Our team has a lot of class and will be deserving winners, fingers crossed!!

As usual our scummy fans will always take some of the headlines. Those pictures say a lot :(

Would the inappropriate contact be eye gouging and sexual assault perchance?
Theonlyones · 11/07/2021 18:37

Animals, I've seen it in France a few years ago, same old stuff.

Will be delighted if we win tonight. Southgate has done an amazing job developing this squad.

MercyBooth · 11/07/2021 18:57

I guess Independent Sage missed a trick when they should have advised against this.
