I just don’t get all the fuss about stupid football

So I’m sitting in bed about go to sleep and all I can hear outside is cheering, horns beeping people shouting etc because England are through to the final. It means nothing to me. Just a massive money spinning industry.

Am I honestly the only person who doesn’t give a flying fig about it all? I actually feel sorry for the sheeple who are using it to bring excitement to their otherwise quite boring lives.

Sure I will be totally flamed for this, but I honestly wish it would just all go away.

Also, as a side note, it’s the Euros but wonder how many England supporters actually voted for Brexit 🤔 Or is that actually why people are so invested in it?

I’m not a football fan but am delighted that we won tonight. Louis Theroux interviewed a footballer as part of his Grounded podcast and I was struck about how much adversity the player had overcome to get to where he has and how intelligent and engaging he sounded. I realised that I’d been guilty of lumping those guys in together as a bit thick - probably because a lot are working class and there’s a certain stereotype about them. I’m pretty embarrassed about that now. You sound pretty embarrassing yourself using the word sheeple like that. I’d love it if my DD9 would get the courage to play on a girls football team but she’s lacking in confidence. Maybe if England win she’ll feel encouraged.. the more women who play the better imo.

How self-important are you? You don't get it so you want it gone. I'm sure there's things you like and will get excited about that many others won't. This is a huge event for many people in this country.

As for your point about Brexit, last I checked we haven't actually moved continents, we're still geographically in Europe. Ukraine, Turkey, Scotland, Wales and North Macedonia also aren't members of the EU but played in the competition.

Most football fans love going abroad and enjoying the game with other fans
I was in Brazil in 2002 when they won the World Cup and it was incredible! It brings good people together.
