I just don’t get all the fuss about stupid football

So I’m sitting in bed about go to sleep and all I can hear outside is cheering, horns beeping people shouting etc because England are through to the final. It means nothing to me. Just a massive money spinning industry.

Am I honestly the only person who doesn’t give a flying fig about it all? I actually feel sorry for the sheeple who are using it to bring excitement to their otherwise quite boring lives.

Sure I will be totally flamed for this, but I honestly wish it would just all go away.

Also, as a side note, it’s the Euros but wonder how many England supporters actually voted for Brexit 🤔 Or is that actually why people are so invested in it?

What on earth has Brexit got to do with football?
Europe ≠ the EU. Grin

Tittyfilarious81 · 07/07/2021 23:36

I'm not usually the biggest football fan but I absolutely love the joy it's brought to so many people Smile

Gertie75 · 07/07/2021 23:36

I'm not bothered about it but wish I was, I used to love going to the pub and watching it in a crowd, I thought I was a fan but turns out I'm only a fan of being in a crowd of people who like football.

It's not the same sitting in your pj's at home.

CheddarGorge · 07/07/2021 23:37

@Smileyaxolotl1

And no you’re not the only superior being that isn’t interested. There’ll be some other smug, sanctimonious dullards along in a minute.
Just because someone isn't into football doesn't make them think they're superior. Stop projecting
Xmasbaby11 · 07/07/2021 23:37

It's not my thing either but I'm enjoying everyone's energy and excitement. It's good to see everyone happy and brought together. And talking about something other than the miseries in the news, covid, climate change, and so on. I know these issues are far more important but I think you need to lose yourself in entertainment sometimes. It's a normal and understandable human trait.

Hawkins001 · 07/07/2021 23:38

vindaloo, is very spicy, I made that error.

TheTallOakTrees · 07/07/2021 23:39

@Demelza82

You're right OP, it's a game for the corrupt, dimwitted and flagsuckers. This is literally the worst thing that could happen at this stage of the pandemic.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nothing better to do though have you, John in and smile, you know you want to Grin

ShowOfHands · 07/07/2021 23:39

I couldn't be less interested in football. I have serious misgivings about the entire industry and have not watched a single match, nor do I intend to.

However, I can understand people experiencing joy which I don't feel myself. And why the heck not? The joy is lovely to see.

Costumeidea · 07/07/2021 23:40

Can I introduce you please, to a lump of cheddar cheese…

Na na naaaaa

NakedAttraction · 07/07/2021 23:40

Yeah, I don’t understand why they need football for excitement, particularly over the last 18 months. I mean I’ve been super excited by all the travelling and general partying I’ve been doing. Oh, hang on a minute…

Fuck me OP, you really do sound miserable and to be honest, very boring. Oh the irony!

MrsGulDukat · 07/07/2021 23:40

I must have missed the memo that English people must be miserable fuckers at all time.

"SWEET CAROLINE, OH OH OH!"

BumbleFlump · 07/07/2021 23:41

Yeah the Brexit thing was a bit irrelevant...my football obsessed neighbour is also a devout brexiteer (amongst other things) and given what I’ve heard him say about some of our fellow Europeans, I’m surprised he’d even consider breathing the same air as anyone from Europe let alone be pleased England is competing in the Euros. He definitely voted Brexit for the wrong reasons though. As I said, an sideline.

I think its lovely. Well done England.Smile

llm24 · 07/07/2021 23:41

I’m Scottish and watched the game with excitement , if you enjoy doing or watching something you get excited especially if it’s not been achieved for a long time
Maybe you don’t but for most people out there they do

Bolshybun · 07/07/2021 23:41

The replies to this have absolutely made my night

mygenericusername · 07/07/2021 23:42

You’ve got to be a wind up.

Brexit you say? Europe?

While the rest of us are cheering our nation on on Sunday, use your time to study a map.

FootballIts coming homeFootball

Lunificent · 07/07/2021 23:43

I don’t watch or enjoy football, but I disagree with your analysis of the hype. Footballers at this level are highly skilled. Football games at this level are great to watch if you’re that way inclined. England hasn’t done this well for many years. Having a collective joy isn’t a sign that you are ‘sheeple’ or boring, it’s a very human and good thing.

Nat6999 · 07/07/2021 23:44

The first time in 55 years we are in a final & still people are moaning, we need to get this won on Sunday & then we won't fear anyone in the World Cup next year. After the last 16 months we need something to cheer about.

Melitza · 07/07/2021 23:44

Move to Scotland OP.
You'll never have to worry about noisy football supporters celebrating a national win.

TheTallOakTrees · 07/07/2021 23:45

What on earth are you rambling on about. Football and Brexit are not related at all. Off to bed with you and try to smile a little tomorrow
AdoptedBumpkin · 07/07/2021 23:45

Whether you want England to win is nothing to do with Brexit.

OnTheBrink1 · 07/07/2021 23:45

I normally hate football and find it so boring. I don’t watch tonight but even I am interested in seeing the celebrations. Wether you like football or not, it’s a slice of 21st century history and really doesn’t happen often. Even I might have to watch the final and that’s saying something

Gembie · 07/07/2021 23:47

Some people actually love football, they don’t call it the beautiful game for nothing!

I’ve really enjoyed it - such a shock for once to see England play decently haha

edwinbear · 07/07/2021 23:47

I’m not bothered about it either, so I went to the gym instead, which was empty, so that made me happy. I dislike how boorish men become when these sorts of things are on - throwing their beer in the air and generally behaving like dicks. But really, it’s not difficult to get on with my life and let them get on with it for a couple of weeks.

SleepingStandingUp · 07/07/2021 23:48

We watched it tonight. Mainly I played o my phone. Still got excited when we scored, angry when they pushed over the short one - Sterling. You're a foot taller Vesterguard, back off!

Assuming people who want h it are boring sheep really reflects more on you op
