DH thinks this is disgusting

Feel free to absolutely let me have it but me out please.
We live in a house with a downstairs toilet/bathroom which is the absolute bane of my existence 🙄
I'm 33 weeks pregnant so I feel like I need to have a wee basically every half hour these days. I've been managing going downstairs every night when I wake up for the past few months but I've reached the end of my tether. I just can't do it anymore 😭😭 My back aches, my bump is in the way, I'm exhausted and nauseated and I'm just ready to have baby already 😑
I need multiple trips to the toilet and I just can handle going downstairs that many times in one night.

So yes I have bought myself a little travel potty with a lid which I use. 🙈🙈🙈
It's out on the landing so not in our bedroom and I empty it and clean it first thing in the morning I swear!

It's made such a difference to me but DH thinks it's absolutely disgusting.
I know he has every right to think that but what would you do in my shoes 😅 AIBU?

I also nearly tripped on the stairs a few times because I'm half asleep going down them.
We're currently house hunting and definitely won't be making the same mistake going for downstairs loo.

What an inconsiderate man. I would have thought he would put your safety and comfort first. I don't see anything "gross" about it at all. Years ago, lots of people had potties under the bed. It's no big deal.

As others have said, he needs to grow up a bit.

In my last 2 pregnancies we had a camping toilet for this reason. It also came in really handy while potty training lol. We live in a very small house and the bathroom works out to be under my bedroom down a short set of stairs then a longer set and then through the front room and kitchen. When I first got it my husband thought I was being crazy. By the time our last child was potty training he understood my reasoning 😂

Bring the bed downstairs 😂. Hasn't he ever done wild camping? 🤣 Lots more poo and wee to come with a little one... Best get used to it! 😁

Not disgusting at all. A practical solution to a practical problem.

Your DH should work on developing some empathy before baby arrives - it will really help temper his "disgust" when dealing with explosive nappies and baby puke.

If people think it isn't disgusting how about people with no downstairs loo? Pain running up and downstairs all day so you have a potty in the lounge. Are you happy when friends pop in or would you hide it? If you hide it why if its fine to have pots of piss around the house.

You have managed to ignore entirely the subject of advanced pregnancy there AncientGran, that the op is nauseated and exhausted, and has a baby bouncing on her bladder all night. We are not talking about the able bodied here as you seem to be!

Get a camping toilet then make him clean it out. Absolutely would not be traipsing downstairs.

@Petalplucker But pregnant women might get fed up/nauseated and exhausted during the day and if they only have an upstairs toilet what else can they do? I mean no one will find it disgusting when they visit because well why would they?

Forgive me for being dim Ancientgran, I have had a long and rather stressful day, so I am not quite sure which side of the argument you are supporting!! Smile
