Any Carers here who are not taking the vaccine?

Maybevaccine · 16/06/2021 18:57

It's apparently been confirmed now that it is compulsory for care home workers and other carers to take the vaccine.

I just got a job in a care home, and I've always said no to the vaccine. Mainly because of the things I've seen and read of people who've had the vaccine. Blood clots, death, rashes, and people still getting covid after taking the vaccine.

I don't know what to do now.

Just wondering how many members of Mumsnet, are from industry (pharmaceuticals/telecoms et al?!) and how many are paid to be on here to lobby/shut down open discussion????!!!
Most of those posting in support of vaccination are long standing and well known posters. I've been on MN for 11 years and have seen these names frequently.

Also according to the late great Terry Pratchett, the use of multiple exclamation marks is a sure sign of insanity.

@BlatantlyNameChanged

Sorry to disappoint blatant, my husband hasn’t worked as an agronomist for 17 years

And I highly doubt he is oh-so-conveniently a "research scientist" now.

Whose bed did you get out of the wrong side this morning Blatently ?.

From your petty , and relatively barbed responses I can sadly imagine who you are. Please desist in writing catty little comments. This is nothing to do with the topic being discussed here. If you feel the need to troll me, do it somewhere else. Angry

Bryonyshcmyony · 18/06/2021 11:54

Some people were like this about saying that the tories paid people to post on Mumsnet. In the real world noone massively cares what mumsnet thinks.

RampantIvy · 18/06/2021 12:00

Respect to you @Lweji. DD is studying biomedical sciences, and obviously covid has come up a lot in her studies. She scored 98% in her immunology exam, and I would take her opinion over all of the batshit responses on here. She can't wait to be vaccinated BTW.

wavybaby · 18/06/2021 12:03

and I've been on for 17 years and have observed far more than I've posted as I feel that there is much written which is unnecessarily barbed.

Skinnytailedsquirrel · 18/06/2021 12:06

Offshore workers need to have safety certs before they do their job
Radiographers need to have Hep B innoculations before they do their jobs
Why do you OP in a "caring" profession think you are any different?
Get the jab or get another job.

pointythings · 18/06/2021 12:07

What do 'barbed' posts have to do with paranoid ideas about every pro vaccine poster being a Pharma rep?

Lourdes12 · 18/06/2021 12:07

I was recently in A & E three times for other reasons. There were so many people (mainly younger) with side effects from the vaccine such as heart palpations, severe dizziness, breathing problems, stroke symptoms etc. I heard a few of them saying they wouldn't take a second dose. People are still suffering 2 month after the jab with horrible symptoms like vertigo, ringing in the ears, severe, headaches, heart palpations which is not going away. They cannot function normally anymore. No matter what job you have, you should have the right to decide what you put into your body. I thought the elderly had their vaccinations by now so they shouldn't be at risk of getting so sick? Wasn't that the point of the vaccine? Why are we now targeting younger people who seem to have covid mildly but more likely to get side effects from the vaccine? Check them for anti body skin instead they wil most likely have had it already

auntnellie · 18/06/2021 12:09

I suggest you dont get vaccinated and find another career if you feel so strongly. You are young and if you get Covid you will probably get it fairly mildly. Unfortunately you could be left with long Covid like my daughter. Severe rheumatoid arthritis in both wrists and ankles and severe fatigue. This would solve the problem of your medical career as you will be too disabled to pursue this career anyway. Lots of other careers too unfortunately.

It is one thing for a person to decide they don't want to have the vaccine, that's their choice. But to post scaremongering bollocks about the vaccines in an attempt to frighten people is another matter altogether and that sort of shit deserves a barbed response.
RampantIvy · 18/06/2021 12:11

@Lourdes12 because unvaccinated people can spread the virus and therefore it will keep on mutating until we end up in another lockdown situation. Why can you not understand that?

Your anecdata of young people with vaccine side effects in A and E still only represents a very tiny proportion of the population.

How did you manage to get all this detailed information about your fellow A&E attendees @Lourdes12? Did you spend a lot of time chatting to everyone or listening in to their conversations?

Lourdes12 · 18/06/2021 12:41

After waiting for 9 hours to be seen by a doctor people start talking to each other. When I was giving fluids I was sitting in the same room as people with side effects and we were talking about it. I also heard doctors conversations with patients

MyrrAgain · 18/06/2021 12:47

I'm Pro vaccine and can't stand anti vaxxers holding the world back. But seriously - what do you think is going to happen in the world if billions of vaccinated people suddenly die or become seriously unwell for the rest of their lives due to having the vaccine?? Do you think the world will be a better place for you having not had the vaccine and suffering from all the terrible after effects we're going to apparently get?? I think as the last ones standing it'll be total devastation. So good luck keeping all us idiotic vaccinated people in hospital and supporting us when we're too ill/fucked up /infertile /robots controlled by Bill Gates all by yourselves!!

This is what I said to my mum Grin
Xenia · 18/06/2021 12:54

It is a divisive issue. I have chosen not to have it. My body. My right even if that affects others.

Most of those on MN who have chosen not to take the vaccine are not saying those who have had the vaccine are "idiotic" nor that most of those vaccinated will be made ill by it. We just have a different view.

BlatantlyNameChanged · 18/06/2021 12:57

I'm not trolling you, you are the one who brought up your "research scientist" husband as if that gives your anti-vaxx scaremongering additional weight. I was merely pointing out that your claim has no proof other than your say so. For example, I'm a train driver. Choo-choo.

There were so many people (mainly younger) with side effects from the vaccine such as heart palpations, severe dizziness, breathing problems, stroke symptoms etc. I heard a few of them saying they wouldn't take a second dose.

Presumably they all filled out the forms for the Yellow Card scheme and we will soon be hearing official information on this not at all made up anecdata?

Oh yes, @wavybaby you've busted me. As soon as I had my first injection, I heard Bill Gates' voice in my head. He and I have daily chats. Hmm

Exactly. Every poster here who doesn't agree with you has meticulously spent years building up a posting history and connections on mumsnet just for this moment.

You've rumbled us. Well done.

Full disclosure: I'm a fully paid-up lobbyist for Mr Gates.
He pays me handsomely to spend eight hours a day noodling about on Mumsnet trying to persuade people to get vaccinated.

It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it Grin

EmmaOvary · 18/06/2021 13:16

Perhaps the fact you need to ask this question is an indication you are in the wrong profession.

KittyMcV · 18/06/2021 13:31

My friend recently declined a close-contact beauty treatment because the beautician wasn't vaccinated. This prompted an interesting discussion, which I also think is relevant to this discussion. There are some people here who've a lot more knowledge than me and I'd be interested to know what you folks think. So, if a person (say me) has been vaccinated, I can still be infected and get Covid, but likely is not it will be mild and I'll be asymptomatic. This is what I've been led to believe, anyway. Because asymptomatic people are much less likely to spread Covid, I am a v low risk to others. Therefore vaccination is an extremely good and helpful thing. However... I was wondering... In a close contact situation such as a massage, the risk is higher that an asymptomatic person could pass the virus on - more so than a shop-keeper or an accountant say. So... Is there an argument that it could be a GOOD thing that some people would show symptoms if they contracted a cold, flu, Covid or other virus? Because therefore they would know to stay off work? I'm not saying this is my belief, but it is one argument. I don't think vaccines should ever be mandated and I'm uncomfortable with the fact that people are vilifying others who choose not to. Both 'sides' are calling each-other stupid. I totally believe that with time and education that the vast majority big people will choose to be vaccinated.

MimosaAdorna · 18/06/2021 13:37

Gosh Blatently, you are in a state. What makes you think I’m an anti Vax scaremongerer ?. READ my original post. ABSORB IT, UNDERSTAND IT. No anti vaccine protest there, it’s just my husband has chosen not to take the available vaccines and I can’t- note use of the word CANNOT, NOT WILL NOT . This vaccine is a choice. A personal choice. My sister died after an anaphylactic reaction to the BCG....I think I’m entitled to take (or not take) what I choose on the back of that. My claim has no proof - WHAT CLAIM ?. That my husband is a research scientist?. If you think you can disagree with that claim , you must know him, and by proxy, think you know me.....??....what MY husband now does is irrelevant to you - why are interested?. Why even contradict it.? Why get involved with my post ? ....I can only guess that you are Who I think you are.... ( and you don’t deny it). I note you've veered away from randomly bitching at me , by trying to distract peoples attention to the yellow card scheme. Which of course you’d know all about , being you. The last time this happened Blatently, the police had to be involved. Please leave us alone. You made your bed, now lie in it.

BlatantlyNameChanged · 18/06/2021 13:40

I can only guess that you are Who I think you are.... ( and you don’t deny it)

Hmm

I have absolutely no clue what you are on about and can promise I have no idea who you are. Are you quite alright? You're getting a bit paranoid and ranty.

@Lourdes12 It's odd that they were all well enough to wait 9 hours to see a doctor - that begs the question why they were in A&E in the first place?. Also odd that those who had stroke symptoms waited for 9 hours (there is a pathway for stroke patients which does not involve them hanging around in A&E for 9 hours).

Also that hospital must be consistently and horrifically breaching its A&E waiting time targets if everyone had to wait 9 hours (operational standard is that at least 95% of patients attending A&E should be admitted, transferred or discharged within four hours).. I am very suprised it has not been in the news.

Which hospital was it?
