Named changed because completely outing If she is on here.

So we live in a terraced house with decent size gardens.
Our garden has a pool, climbing frame and tree house thing for kids.
We have fences but they are lower enough to look over etc.
We have been out every day the last week.
My kids have noticed that things haven’t been where they left them in the garden but I just assumed they just forgot etc

Anyway, I got home from work early today and the kids were still at the park and one with my sister.
When I arrived home.
The neighbours child was in our garden using the climbing frame whilst his mum was in her garden watching.

Seriously ??? Neighbour was apologetic when she realised I was annoyed but said she didn’t really see the problem as he was supervised and wasn’t doing any harm ?

It's not the point and she most likely knew she was taking the piss.

Hollywolly1 · 14/06/2021 12:50

These people know right well what they are doing

NoProblem123 · 14/06/2021 12:51

Unbelievable - l’m raging on your behalf Angry

And to not even have the decency to look suitably mortified at being caught in the act just takes the CF biscuit.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 14/06/2021 12:52

Me, neither, lydia. Never understood the pussy footing wet lettuce that's so common. 'No. You and your kids are not allowed on my property unless you're invited. You've been trespassing on our property and that needs to stop now as that's illegal. Goodbye.'

So common. The swing set CFer, the one where the OP allowed a friend to stay in her annex for free but overheard the 'friend' slagging the OP off to a mutual friend (she didn't throw her out and sure enough the 'friend' trashed the property), the BBQ CFer (that one did say NO but there were a few apologists who just 'couldn't understand' why the OP wouldn't do as the CFer commanded).

The swing set CFer was before the whole 'be kind' bollocks but there were still a few who thought the OP should just continue running her property as a playground to chancers.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 14/06/2021 12:53

Ah! Given their ages, yeah, best to just dismantle it.

HereForTheCakes · 14/06/2021 13:07

It's a shame for your children if they can't play on their garden stuff in the good weather. Who is responsible for maintaining the boundary that side? If you, I'd eat the cost of solid high fencing. If them, I'd be asking them to reinforce the boundary in order to be clear which side of it they must stay, and would probably still be tempted to upgrade my side. Definitely worth a camera!

Rainbunny · 14/06/2021 13:07

So cheeky!

This reminds me of what happened to my friend's parents. They lived in a large old house, the sort that had servant's quarters back in the day and lovely grounds including a walled apple orchard. My friend's mum worked afternoons at a local library and one time she came home early with a migraine to find a woman with her children enjoying a picnic and apple picking in her orchard! To get to the orchard you had to walk up the long drive, through the back garden to the gate to the orchard beyond. It was completely invisible and inaccessible from the road. My friend's mum was so shocked that she didn't really know what to say and also the woman's chidlren were young, so she quietly told the woman that she could finish her picnic and take some of the apples but never return as she was trespassing and apple scrumping! She never found out who the woman was either? Never saw her around the village or local town, a bit of a mystery really.

Some people really take liberties and truly don't understand why they can't!

TidyOmlette · 14/06/2021 13:30

I’d be pulling her up on it and then making fences higher and locking any gates. It’s rude and entitled, what if a toy had been broken? Would they have replaced it or ignored it?

Workinghardeveryday · 14/06/2021 13:49

Cf definitely!! As if you would dream of doing that!!!
Get that fence higher ASAP!!!
The dam cheek!!!!

tara66 · 14/06/2021 13:53

Haven't read PPs but felt obliged to enquire about your liability regarding if neighbour's child drowned in your pool etc.? Is your pool alarmed and fenced in (fence must be child proof) - this is the law in France. Very serious.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/06/2021 13:55

I've been looking for the CFs locked in the garden one - IIRC it was the poster's son who accidentally locked them in there - & I came across this lovely tale. The search continues.

I remember this thread! It's a classic. NDN complained to the council's planning dept that he wasn't allowed access to the OP's private garden and play equipment – not realising she actually worked in said dept!

WettyHainthrop · 14/06/2021 14:18

@Singlenotsingle

Did the child do any damage? No Poor child, looking sadly over the fence while your children play. Yes, the woman should have asked but it's not the worst crime in the world.
Simply do not understand maniac posters like this on here. 😂

OP, you’re an absolute twat for not giving them the equipment to keep in their garden. You should also offer to pay their mortgage for a few months and lend them your car. You’re so unreasonable for not doing these things. Poor neighbours… Hmm

What the fuck?

Next door have a trampoline that my children would love to go on

I still wouldn’t put them across the fence to have a go whilst they were out

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 14/06/2021 14:27

My neighbour does this. His pedigree cats aren't meant to get out but inevitably do with alarming regularity and he seems to think that it's ok to just wander through my garden gate and potter about looking for them. I would have zero objection if he rang the bell and asked but he never ever does.

My other neighbour has a young child who run into my garden without asking me too but the difference is a) their parents try their best to stop them/tell them they must ask b) my child the same age "invites" them without asking me (at school with them) so i can't really blame the 5 year old for getting confused about what's allowed!

Seriously? Confused Are you the neighbour?
Hollywolly1 · 14/06/2021 14:53

Why should you take down your swing set ,even though your kids are 8 and 14 im sure during the summer its nice for them to even sit for a chat on them

Karmabites2591 · 14/06/2021 15:25

The pool is safe tbf ( alarmed and it’s always closed of securely )
He would not have access to the pool. But the climbing frame and house he would have.
We don’t have a trampoline.

Yeah, whatever happened to 'be kind' 😂😂

There was one legendary virtue signalling thread featuring an OP who was posting on behalf of her elderly and mentally frail mother, who lived in another city. A homeless person had broken into the mother's garden shed and taken up residence. Most people provided helpful advice on how to properly move him on without involving herself, the mother. But there were a few real corkers on there, suggesting she invite him for a shower and hot meal, go over to the shed with a 'welfare pack', flasks of tea and soup, bedding and the Wi-Fi password. 😂😂

Still another poster rented out a room in her house on AirB&B. The house was totally unsuitable for children so NO CHILDREN was made clear on the booking. A woman booked it and then announced she was bringing her toddler. The OP duly informed her no children, cancelled the booking, person refunded.

The person showed up with the toddler in a taxi, demanding entrance to the home. She kicked off and a neighbour rang the police and she was moved on.

Cue some MNers falling over themselves to berate the poster for being unkind, how she should have invited the woman and toddler in for a hot meal, provided nappies and milk, let them stay for free etc. It was hilarious!

Soubriquet · 14/06/2021 15:55

I have seen posters tell landlords they should just give the house to the tenant if it’s their second home Grin

Ozanj · 14/06/2021 15:58

I was the kid who climbed into neighbours houses to use the swing. Mum would never have faciliated it though - that’s the abnormal part. She clearly thinks she has some kind of divine right over your property. As you have a pool, I would personally go in very hard on this. Better to be rude and never speak again if it can prevent him getting hurt or worse later.
