I feel embarrassed writing this at my age but today I'm off work and all of my friends are at work.
I really want to go to the beach it's got to be lovely and warm here today.
It's a 10/15 min walk from my house so not far at all.
Aibu to go alone?
I know most people go with families etc but I really want to go down.
I just want to go down, relax, maybe get some chips and ice cream and enjoy the nice weather.

Yes, fashionablefennel, because that's exactly the same thing. Utter tosh.

Back to OP:

sallybally34, I'm glad you got to the beach, I'm envious of your walking-distance access. Hope this solo trip was the first of many.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

must be a nice little world you live in if you don't even realise some women in the UK are not ALLOWED to go out on their own Hmm

But back to this culture, how can people cope with life, get a job, travel for work, go to medical appointment if they question going on the beach alone. You are being ridiculous.

GuildfordGal · 09/06/2021 16:25

To be fair on previous posters, they responded to the information given by the OP in their first message. The OP appeared four hours later to say that their reluctance was due to anxiety. That bit of information in the initial post would have probably garnered some very different replies.

I'm a bit surprised that the OP only shared it much later, as it was obviously key to the whole thing. But there we go.

shinynewapple21 · 09/06/2021 16:33

I would absolutely go on my own .

shinynewapple21 · 09/06/2021 16:37

Have just read your update - glad you chose to go, hope you have had a lovely day .

KeepingTrack · 09/06/2021 16:39

@sallybally34

I'm here. I've found a nice quiet spot and it's gorgeous Nobody has batted an eyelid Seen a lot of people alone and lots walking along the promenade and to the lighthouse

I know I sound silly but I have generalised anxiety and trying to work on it.

Yay. I’m glad you had a good day :):)
KeepingTrack · 09/06/2021 16:40

Btw well done for going there.

Anxiety can stop you from doing things and you didn’t let that stop you. That in itself is a great outcome.

Jedimastermama · 10/06/2021 06:01

@sallybally34 Glad you got to the beach yesterday. Hope you had a lovely relaxing day.

LadyPenelope68 · 10/06/2021 06:26

Definitely go, sounds like heaven to me!

dutchessmom · 14/06/2021 10:52

I trully hope you went! We need time alone too, being just us, not a mother, daughter, friend, partner etc...
