I feel embarrassed writing this at my age but today I'm off work and all of my friends are at work.
I really want to go to the beach it's got to be lovely and warm here today.
It's a 10/15 min walk from my house so not far at all.
Aibu to go alone?
I know most people go with families etc but I really want to go down.
I just want to go down, relax, maybe get some chips and ice cream and enjoy the nice weather.

Go! Take a book as others have said. Enjoy. We’re on holiday by the sea and I’m about to kick dh and dd out so I can sunbathe in peace.

ApolloandDaphne · 09/06/2021 08:36

I love sitting on the beach on my own. I do have a dog that I take with me but she just lies by me while I do a spot of birdwatching or reading. It is bliss.

Absolutely! Have a lovely time.

AlmostSummer21 · 09/06/2021 08:39

I'm genuinely concerned about why you think this warrants even a passing thought?

AlmostSummer21 · 09/06/2021 08:39

Deeply envious!!!

BagORats · 09/06/2021 08:41

Get yourself a beach shelter take a cool bag with water in it, stick your cossie on and enjoy. I did it before it was bloody lovely, dipping in and out of the freezing cold sea to go and relax with my kindle in my tiny tent

starbrightstarlight8888 · 09/06/2021 08:42

Yes yes yes , definitely!

Subeccoo · 09/06/2021 08:42

I live 5 minutes from the beach, but I've got toddler dgd on my day off. I'd kill to be going alone instead of with her, oh to read my book and have an iced coffee in peace instead of dragging her out of the sea constantly and dealing with her tantrum when we leave and her getting covered in ice cream.
Enjoy!!!

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 09/06/2021 08:44

Yes I would. I love reading so I do things like that alone, go sit in the park or a coffee shop or even go and have lunch on my own. Beach, definitely

scaredsadandstuck · 09/06/2021 08:44

Sounds gorgeous! Have fun. I'm very jealous, I miss living by the sea!

Mischance · 09/06/2021 08:46

Of course!! Whyever not!!

I am widowed and do most things on my own without a second thought.

Fridaysgirl17 · 09/06/2021 08:47

I used to do this all the time when I lived near the beach and my partner was at work,I'd pop down and just sit, relax, clear my head, was fantastic 😊

Snoken · 09/06/2021 08:47

Going to the beach alone is great! Bring a book and a snack and you can be there for hours. Nothing weird about it at all.

notalwaysalondoner · 09/06/2021 08:48

Of course! I’ve often been to the beach alone as I travel a lot for work. Just take several things to do (book; magazines; podcast etc) as I find it does somehow get more boring if you’re alone. With other people I can happily spend all day on a beach but by myself 2-3 hours feels enough. Also minimise the valuables you take so you feel comfortable swimming, I just ask a nearby family to watch my bag and hope for the best normally.

Pewpew · 09/06/2021 08:50

If I wanted to then, yes of course

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 09/06/2021 08:51

Sounds heavenly! Stock up with drinks and something to read, have a fabulous day OP!

FrumpyBetty · 09/06/2021 08:52

Surprised you need to ask! Have you really never been to the beach alone ?

Go and have a lovely day.

BackBeatTheWordisOnTheStreet · 09/06/2021 08:56

Definitely go alone. People do it all the time, it's really not a big deal. Bring a book, have a walk, whatever you fancy. (I live 40 mins from the beach and if I didn't have a ton of work to do today I'd be tempted myself).

DoodleLovin · 09/06/2021 09:00

Why wouldn’t you go alone?
Hell yes I’d spend a few hours lounging on the sand by myself if I could! I’d kill for some me time!

1000glitterydicks · 09/06/2021 09:07

I drove 2.5 hours and sat on the beach on my own the other week - it was awesome!!

YellowFish12 · 09/06/2021 09:09

Jesus Christ you really need to ask MN if you can go to the beach on your own?

The mind boggles at the lack of self autonomy and living a life so self limiting.

SkySmiler · 09/06/2021 09:11

Absolutely, enjoy!

butterpuffed · 09/06/2021 09:12

My lounge balcony is less than a minute from the beach and on the side road which leads to it so i see hundreds of people going there , literally loads on their own.

Dacquoise · 09/06/2021 09:12

Go for it! Good book, the papers, nice rug or towel. Lucky you!

Tooshytoshine · 09/06/2021 09:13

Yes, go!

I would take a book or listen to a podcast. Have a paddle, get an icecream and eat those chips...

If you can't enjoy hanging out with yourself then how can you expect other people to - you are enough.
