Kids abandoned downstairs

275 replies

Heartofstrings · 06/06/2021 13:26

I feel really so rough. Husband is away taking exams.
Bloated- so so sore
Abdo pain
Back ache
Fatigue
Muscle aches

I just can't be arsed. I've never been Bloated I'm my life until this week and now it's almost constant. A couple of weeks ago I was tested for thyroid issues as my periods are messed up and the tiredness and aching.

The kids pop up to say hi every so often and I've just chucked cereal at them. Please tell me this is ok? I have no local family

During lockdown, we actually expected (sick) parents to remain with young children without support. Not necessarily sick with Covid, but the idea of removing kids from the house to bring to relatives was a huge no-no. So leaving kids to run around while parents lie on their sick bed is clearly okay when the authorities say it is.

It makes no sense to me, but I know what it is like to be stuck alone with preschooolers all day when you are suffering a migraine or norovirus, and 'taking two paracetamol and getting back to parenting!!!!!' isn't really an option.

Hope you are feeling better OP. The tone of some of these replies is awful.

stayathomer · 06/06/2021 22:47

OP I love that you said if you are a troll you'll say you're pregnant, and that you're enjoying the bun fight etc. I'm not sure about ever leaving kids that age without full supervision but I have ridiculously un self sufficient children! Take care and do get checked out and I hope you get a break and some sleep.

PurpleSunrise · 07/06/2021 00:22

Ugh so many nasty posts on here

Zebraaa · 07/06/2021 02:50

Definitely just needs a big poo.

RiojaRose · 07/06/2021 03:14

I’m not at all worried about the supervision of your kids but I’m a little worried about your symptoms. Have you seen a GP? If not, do you have an appointment?

sunglassesonthetable · 07/06/2021 03:43

Hope you're OK OP.

Laughing at the ridiculous, spanish inquisition posts on here trying to catch you out.

You said you posted for reassurance about your medical symptoms, yet you have already sought advice from your medic husband.

How very dare you OP?!

SkodaKodiaq · 07/06/2021 04:16
@Passthepepper there's a Little lad called sylvester circulating in my groups. He's younger than mine and can make a full lasagne from scratch
Whoever told you that is lying! What a load of rubbish!

eatitgood · 07/06/2021 04:21

A full lasagne from scratch 😂
I love it.

eatitgood · 07/06/2021 04:22

What a very odd thread op. You titled it 'kids abandoned downstairs' yourself.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 07/06/2021 06:39

@sadie9

Take 2 paracetamol and then the pain will go away. You can find out what's causing it later. It could be gastritis in which case try some over the counter omeprazole. Are you over 40? If so it could be the start of perimenopause.
I had understood you couldn’t get omeprazole over the counter?
3Britnee · 07/06/2021 06:53

@Heartofstrings

Maybe I am being a bit wet. I have enough symptoms to say that I don't know what this is. Ovarian cancer, coeliacs, thyroid, food intolerance. Who knows.
You could just be constipated.
Lulu1919 · 07/06/2021 06:56

Poor you
Personally I'd have to be downstairs ...on sofa
I'd be too anxious to have that aged kids in the garden when I couldn't see what they were up to !!!
Play a game...explain Mummy is poorly so no jumping ...make them the drs ....ask them to stroke your head etc etc rather than jump !!!

Any local friends you could ask to just pop in even for an hour ?

knittingaddict · 07/06/2021 07:03

You can get omeprazole over the counter. I've done it myself.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 07/06/2021 09:18

You’re right, at low doses. I now realise that when I’ve been declined it’s because I have a much higher dose than that be bought OTC.

(A bit like paracetamol / codeine mixes)

FancyPuffin · 07/06/2021 09:22

In December you mentioned your husband was training to be an osteopath so I would definitely advise speaking to an actual medical professional as I’m not sure he would best qualified.

Hope you get it all figured out soon OP Smile

sunglassesonthetable · 07/06/2021 10:20

OK, I've looked at all your posts, if you can be arsed to post all those messages you aren't as ill as I first thought.

Ok then.
😂

User5069 · 07/06/2021 12:29

@HollowTalk

How patronising

Nat6999 · 07/06/2021 13:25

What you said about your stomach pressing your ribs rings bells for me from when I had gall stones. Is the back pain under your right shoulder blade? Does being sick ease the pain. I would get a doctors appointment, you need pain relief & anti sickness meds.

Haenow · 07/06/2021 16:50

Not trying to catch her out Grin, it’s her own words. She backtracked! Ultimately those kids are too young to be left unsupervised although the husband is home so it’s kinda a moot point.
sunglassesonthetable · 07/06/2021 17:21

what's wrong with asking your husband for advice AND coming onto MN and asking?
Seems fine to me.

SheilaWilcox · 07/06/2021 22:27

I wonder if the OP is in labour yet?

DeflatedGinDrinker · 07/06/2021 23:08

OP YABVU can't be bothered to lay on the sofa but can post on mumsnet

Haenow · 08/06/2021 00:15

@sunglassesonthetable

Nothing, of course. That said, I’d trust a medic/HCP who actually knows me, rather than random people on the internet. Many MNers seem to fall into the category of ”I walked 25 miles in the snow to the pharmacy because I didn’t want to bother the GP, let alone A&E, whilst 8 months pregnant with triplets and I had my thigh bone sticking out of my leg which bled so badly, I lost half my blood volume, so why do you waste NHS resources by having the audacity to have a medical need?”. Grin
AliciaWhiskers · 10/06/2021 21:37

Are you feeling better @Heartofstrings?

Sometimesfraught82 · 11/06/2021 05:23

@AliciaWhiskers

Are you feeling better *@Heartofstrings*?
She felt better about 20 mins after her OP!
