My mum has nearly 12000 twitter followers.

I have like 10. She’s got loads of famous people following her too. A lady in her 60s, that’s a head gardener. Kim Wilde, Kerry Katona, and Charlie Dimmock!

How?! Just how?!

She sounds fabulous

I’ve looked her up. And found her on Insta!

Her insta pictures are WOW! Absolutely stunning.

How has she only got 2000 Instagram followers! She isn’t selling herself at all. What a talented lady!

I'm 65 and I get it, OP! I'm sure my daughters would be simultaneously bemused and proud too. And we'd all laugh about it!

There is a lot of casual ageism on MN - it's annoying and boring.

There is, and I often report it.

But this isn't it. This is just a daughter having a WTF moment at her mum having famous followers on twitter! And as I said above, that's totally natural and fun. At 65 I'd be amazed to find myself popular with slebs on SM too!

Totally agree saraclara similar age here and my DCs are a bit taken aback with my following on Twitter.
Only yesterday I was contacted by the Telegraph and the Mail on Sunday (they can fuck off lol) about something I tweeted and them wanting my input.
DCs find it highly amusing.

YANBU OP I can see ‘why’ your mum has lots of followers (she’s skilled and is sharing pretty photos , not some random posting useless updates about their life). But equally I see why it’s a bit odd the the people who protested loads about social media now have a huge following 😂😂😂

Beats me. I have a LOT of Instagram followers, and I NEVER POST ANYTHING THERE! Well, not "never" but very rarely.

Just found her & following - tbh it’s lovely to find someone on Twitter posting beautiful things. Normally it’s all nasty, sniping political bitchiness. Looking forward to seeing all the flowers & colour in my feed now😁

Im not an only daughter, I could be one of a couple… so to be fair no one has worked out who I am!

I posted to do with the bizareeness in my mind from some of her random celeb followers. It wasn’t meant as a negative thing. I love my mum dearly.

It's lovely that she shares her passion. I have a relative with 117k followers on Instagram they also have a talent and passion that comes across in a down to earth understandable way.

I’ve gone from finding it bizarre (still do a bit) to Being proud of her even more from the comments some of you have made. It’s humbling that you’ve taken time out to go and see what she’s offering on her social media and chosen to add her.

I totally get it OP, I could have posted the same, except about my younger brother. Nothing to do with age but the fact that they are a family member who is just a brother to me. He gets asked for autographs when out and I still find it odd. I think, why do you want an autograph fron him, then remember it's to do with his 'other' life. Thats not to say I'm not proud of him or that I'm jealous in any way. His celebrity is never discussed at home, he's treated same as all five siblings which is whats probably kept him grounded.

Thete's a (famous branded) chocolate advert that has Kim Wilde in, which shows her gardening. I've only seen it once or twice, but maybe she's into her gardening? There is one wity Jason Donovan too, advertising the same chocolate. Perhaps Kerry Katona is a keen gardener too!
