7:30 lawn mowing (tomorrow, friday)

I get on really well with the neighbours so don't want to upset them.

Both sides are usually up well before 7, but it is school holidays here.

@BeastforLease

Lawn mowed, on the bus, zero complaints.
You don't say? Grin Grin
Ginuwine · 04/06/2021 08:09

OP with the greatest of respects, you probably could have mowed it at dinner time yesterday. You just didn't want to share your reason because you knew it would be taken apart by some people on here.

The cryptic "I won't tell you my reason" stuff is just a bit silly though.

You remind me of those folk I used to Hmm at before I left Facebook three years ago.

Posts that invariably go like this:

"Special announcement coming.. so excited. Been waiting ages for this"

"Oh what is it! You legend Xx"

"Sorry can't say on here have PM'd you xx".

"Oh wow congrats - is it what I think it is?"

"Sorry babe I can't say on here yet. I've WhatsApped you"

OrangePowder · 04/06/2021 08:13

No. It's the sort of thing that even if they're up and it's no inconvieience to them, still makes you look inconsiderate.

Have a great holiday. I bemused by the stroppy comments on this thread. I think asking your neighbours was a good thing to do. I would have appreciated that if I were your nieghbour.
safclass · 04/06/2021 08:18

We have a nearby neighbour who cuts her tiny piece of grass at 8am every bank holiday. Personally doesnt bother me, i am up, but i think she does it to annoy her neighbours.
Do it a 8am, def more acceptable than 7.30.

SadieCow · 04/06/2021 08:19

Zero complaints..... they've not had a chance yet have they?

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 08:21

Yes before the thread was started ideally. Grin But making loud noise in the mornings is always good for an AIBU on here. The vote says it all really...

Ginuwine · 04/06/2021 08:23

The thing is, OP has had six weeks to do it, at a convenient time for all.

Just because they are going away today for two weeks... it's completely irrelevant to the neighbours and isn't their problem.

The OP just wants to justify doing something at a time that is convenient to their "hectic" schedule (we're all busy, btw) and therefore something that might tacitly inconvenience others.

The trick OP is to ensure that being reasonable and considerate to others doesn't inconvenience yourself.

It's called planning.

CastAColdEye · 04/06/2021 08:25

I'm impressed you go the grass cut that quick. Does the bus stop outside your house?

OrangePowder · 04/06/2021 08:28

The National campaign was for May. I cut mine on Tues. And what a nightmare that was. Never doing that again Grin

OrangePowder · 04/06/2021 08:32

Ah OK, it's a complete wind up. It must be a tiny lawn if you managed to start at 7:30, cut grass that hadn't been mowed for 6 weeks and be on the bus by 8:01. Hardly worth the bother.

I think the idea is you leave the mowing for 2 or 3 weeks, not wait until you have a mini rain forest ! Its also for all year round, bees etc need food in other months too :)

No, there was a campaign specifically for May.

There was a campaign for May.

Yet May ended on Monday. Today, this morning, is the only time that OP could fit the activity in?

And if I knew I was going away on the Friday, I'd use the balmy hot weekend the week before to do it, in the spirit that it's the end of May, and I don't want to inconvenience myself or others by leaving it to the last morning.

The way some people are talking about this claim is as if it's a religious observance.

OrangePowder · 04/06/2021 08:56

That was my exact point initially Ginuwine, that I'd cut mine on Tues.

Got you, sorry! Exactly - there's been five days in the week to resolve this. OP clearly was so "busy" last weekend, all this week, that the ONLY time this could be done was Friday morning at an antisocial time.

It's always easy to inconvenience others when your whole schedule is built around your priorities.

BeastforLease · 04/06/2021 09:18

@Ginuwine As I have said, I couldn't. With all due respect, do you not believe women without constantly questioning them for their "reasoning" in your day to day life, or do you just reserve that behaviour for when you are hiding behind a keyboard?

That goes for many of you on this thread...

Like I said, plans changed yesterday, at the last minute - otherwise it would have got done on the weekend, no bother...

I believe you that you had your reasons.

I'm also pointing out that people who inconvenience their neighbours always have their "reasons.

Their lives are always complex, things always change, something always comes up at the last minute.

That's all I'm saying.

@Ginuwine back to bed for you and perhaps try and get up on the other side later on today?

This morning was a convenient time for all, no inconvenience to anyone.

As I have numerous times - it had nothing to do with time; it was delayed for wildlife, and then plans changed rapidly and unexpectedly yesterday.

I'm not sharing my reasons on the thread, it really has nothing to do with the thread.

It's always easy to inconvenience others when your whole schedule is built around your priorities.

Actually, my schedule has not been about me for a very long time, something the neighbours are aware of.

OP posts:
Giantrooster · 04/06/2021 09:49

🤣🤣🤣

Love you're so secretive 🤣.

You do realize that if your grass hasn't been cut for 6 weeks for wildlife, cutting it now screams 'we're off'.

BeastforLease · 04/06/2021 10:03

@Giantrooster I did think about that point too! Particularly as the bastard burglaries were going on with our unruly meadow occurring. I'm hoping they've been arrested now.
