7:30 lawn mowing (tomorrow, friday)

I get on really well with the neighbours so don't want to upset them.

Both sides are usually up well before 7, but it is school holidays here.

Have you got neighbours to the back as well? If so I would also speak to them. Also lawn mower sound travels more than just 1 garden along

Twistered · 03/06/2021 22:45

Blush I'm gutted you haven't said why!! Just tell me and I won't tell the others. Even give a clue, help a nosy girl out. !!!!! Swear it's killing me Grin

CuriousandReady · 03/06/2021 22:51

@Twistered OP is definitely the kind to post a cryptic Facebook status like, had such an awful experience today! Then await the barrage of messages and “PMd you hun” comments Grin

RainbowBriteUk · 03/06/2021 22:54

Really anti-social.

Sciurus83 · 03/06/2021 23:07

Oh god you are a monster!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 03/06/2021 23:15

This is why I never ask Mumsnet for permission to do normal, everyday things that you know don't bother the majority of real life people.

Lawnmowers, especially electric ones, really aren't that noisy and it'll probably only take half hour, max, especially if you don't collect the cuttings and mulch it instead.

Pinkylemons · 03/06/2021 23:19

I’d do it. There’s a gardener that does some of the people front gardens on our road. He’s always here at the crack of Dawn on a week day.

Imfromhere · 03/06/2021 23:20

Somebody out the back of us started at 10.05pm the other night! Angry I would be even more annoyed at an early morning wake up.

musicalfrog · 03/06/2021 23:21

Do it now OP!

Grin
AlwaysLatte · 03/06/2021 23:24

Twirly. And more importantly, the grass will still be damp so you'll have to empty the box a zillion more times!

AlwaysLatte · 03/06/2021 23:30

It's already waited six weeks, it needs doing!
In your situation I'd either wait or get a gardener in on an afternoon while you're away to do it when it's dried out really well.

LovePoppy · 04/06/2021 03:02

@Mum2jenny

Most people are up and awake by 7:30am on a weekday surely?
Apparently not? I’m very confused by this.

But Maybe life starts earlier here where I am

KatherineJaneway · 04/06/2021 05:33

@BeastforLease

Me: Neighbours "Is this OK" Neighbours "Yes of Course"

Mumsnet "WAHHHH NOOO YOU CAN'T DO WHAT YOUR NEIGHBOURS SAID WAS ACCEPTABLE"

Goodwill does work both ways which is why I ask, and as they know the full situation, possibly why they said. Or they said yes because they are up at the crack of dawn anyways.

The noise will go beyond your immediate neighbours.
SadieCow · 04/06/2021 06:15

The noise will go beyond your immediate neighbours.

Exactly!

You'd have to be asking a lot of people, unless it's just three houses and no others for a long way.

cupsofcoffee · 04/06/2021 06:27

@Mum2jenny

Not necessarily, no! There are loads of people whose lives don't fit the traditional Monday-Friday "9-5" pattern.
Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 06:31

When I worked night shifts I was just getting into bed at 7.30.

SadieCow · 04/06/2021 06:33

It's not been mowed for six weeks, I think the cuttings will need collecting'

Landedmydreamjob · 04/06/2021 07:07

I work weird hours for meetings sometimes. People do.

Bluethrough · 04/06/2021 07:15
@Dalmationcoat needs to be mowed before leaving for two weeks...
Why don't you leave it and let the insects enjoy the longer grass and perhaps some flowers too?
There is a national campaign trying to encourage people to mow less.

Your neighbours might just think your being a twat, maybe they won't but do you want to take that chance?

If you get on well with them, why don't you ask them to do it?
I ve mowed the grass for my neighbour when they ve gone away and get a few bottles for 30 mins work.

Rollmopsrule · 04/06/2021 07:17

Leave it for the two weeks. Its a win win. Local wildlife will be happy and so will your neighbours.

2Rebecca · 04/06/2021 07:18

Agree a lawnmower's noise can carry beyond immediate neighbours. I think this is antisocial. The OP has had days to cut the grass but 7.30am is somehow the only suitable time. It should have been done yesterday early evening or left. I see 9am as the earliest time for unnecessary noisy activities like grass cutting and DIY

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 07:19

Ten minutes 'til blast off.

Janxyb · 04/06/2021 07:35

@Sparklingbrook

Ten minutes 'til blast off.
😂😂
BeastforLease · 04/06/2021 08:01

Lawn mowed, on the bus, zero complaints.

BeastforLease · 04/06/2021 08:01

@Bluethrough that national campaign is the reason it's been left for six weeks :-)
