So many posters have twins! And given it can be easy to forget from one thread to the next whether you've had a multiple birth, I wondered if a general twin register might be helpful. Feel free to have a good rummage around at home to see if you have any.

It’s when you get a poster in baby names saying they are looking for names for their twin girls due, but you look at previous posts and they already have twin boys AND triplets Grin

FictionalCharacter · 30/05/2021 12:56

What the hell? People on MN think anyone who posts about twins is making it up? Why?

For some reason on here trolls often like to say they have twins. I don't know why. But as I said before, I only raise an eyebrow if it's twins combined with a particularly unbelievable/goady post. Twins on their own then no.
Mumoblue · 30/05/2021 12:59

No twins. My grandad was a twin and my mum hoped that she’d have twins because of that, but she didn’t have any, and then when I was first pregnant she kept reminding me that twins run in the family- but no twins for me either. Grin

I have 2 siblings born on the same day as me, the 3 of us are twins together

I only read recently that having twins is looked at with suspicion on threads!

I've twins. B/g 15 months old, via IVF. They're amazing :)

Crunchymum · 30/05/2021 16:31

I don't know anyone (family, friends) who have twins.

Closest link is my DP second cousin has twins. And my SIL's brother has twin babies.

Given we both have quite big families / decent amount of friends I think we are quite unusual.

HazelBite · 30/05/2021 16:56

I have identical twin sons aged 34!
I was hoping for one daughter....................ah well.................

BertieBotts · 30/05/2021 17:14

Nobody in my family has twins, but I've known a few.

Went to school with triplets.
At my first job, used to hang out with a co-worker and her two school friends, who were identical twins, at the local coffee shop all the time.
Mum at a BF group I used to go to with DC2 the same age as my DC1. Her DC 3&4 are twins although I never met them - we moved away before they were born.
Moved to Germany and two of the women that I met/got friendly with through our local English-speakers' support group have twins. There are one or two others in the group that have twins as well who I haven't met. And (at least) one that is a twin.
Friend from a drama group I went to in my teens went on to have twins much later (again, I haven't met them).

Sometimesonly · 30/05/2021 17:18

I have twins....or do I? I also know lots of people with twins probably because I am a member of a twin association....or am I? Grin
@Ilikecheeseontoast

I agree but lots of people lie a lot. They must get some kind of pleasure or satisfaction from it. I was telling my 127 year old grandma this only the other day and she said nobody told lies when she was a child because if found out they got beaten with sticks and tarred and feathered in front of the whole village.
I remember that sort of thing happening Clair.

I'm not quite as venerable as your DGM (I'm only 119), but I can remember them having the soles of their feet caned in the foyer of The Odeon beneath a picture of Greer Carson and Ronald Colman about to snog.

I've never told a lie since.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/05/2021 17:26
No twins here, but I'd like to add that women of West African descent are more likely to have twins. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin#Predisposing_factors Anecdotally I've known many over the years in my part of London. There are even special names for twins. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-37912748
The baby in that link is heart-meltingly beautiful . . .

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/05/2021 17:28

I have boy-girl twins aged 38 and 35.

What a confinement that was! Never again!

Susannahmoody · 30/05/2021 17:30

Can Roger Federer join in? He has 2 sets of identical twins. Should he register?

QualityRoads · 30/05/2021 17:39

When my children were growing up, in their primary school of approx 150 children there were at one time 11 sets of twins.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/05/2021 17:41

I have no twins. I cannot water-ski either. I think that was the thread where a twin faker jumped the shark years ago.

CurlyMango · 30/05/2021 17:43

Yup I have twins GB

Nohugstoday25 · 30/05/2021 17:47

There’s loads of things on mums net that makes you an automatic liar to them ( even when you are not )

Sick child because you know it’s impossible to genuinely have a sick and disabled child, mutiples, and money if you have money you are also a troll 😅

QueenPaw · 30/05/2021 17:51

I'm a (twinless) twin as it's known, my twin died at birth
My mums friend was pregnant with quads, one was stillborn so triplets. Then she fell pregnant 10 weeks after giving birth to them Blush (thought she couldn't conceive without IVF)

leprintemps · 30/05/2021 18:05

@Treaclepie19 I used to babysit for twin boys who will be in their early 40s now, and their mum didn't know it was twins until the second one arrived! Although the highly experienced midwife had voiced a suspicion it might be, only to be dismissed as stupid by the doctor!

I also met a woman through my work about 15 years ago who had two-year-old twins and newborn triplets. I often wonder how she managed. A colleague also had triplets (born before I met her).

Treaclepie19 · 30/05/2021 18:33

@leprintemps crazy isn't it? My sisters are late 40s (18 years between them and me) so I guess it was a thing more so when they were born.

HerringHelen · 30/05/2021 18:35

This is such a bizarre thread

Treaclepie19 · 30/05/2021 18:36

@ShirleyPhallus

I have 2 siblings born on the same day as me, the 3 of us are twins together
My husband and his brother are 5 years apart, born on the same day. My son and daughter are 5 years apart, same month, my daughter was one day off my husbands birthday 😬
