I quite like this look for summer ☀️

to still wear skinny jeans
BraxtonChic · 20/05/2021 23:12

I would still be wearing mine if I could get into them Blush

I suspect I will not be wearing a pair of jeans again til I've spent the next 6 months in the gym.

Purplestorm83 · 20/05/2021 23:15

Forget skinny jeans, I’m still in bootcut jeans from the late 90s lol (I actually put them on the other day to do some gardening, the end of the leg was so big it covered my whole shoe, took me right back!).

dayslikethese1 · 20/05/2021 23:17

Are bootcuts back? Haven't seen them in a while...

xela21 · 21/05/2021 00:01

@Carycy

I’ve stopped wearing them for now unless it’s an outdoorsy day or I am behind on the washing. I have one pair of mom type jeans but actually I’ve bought a lot of those slouchy cuffed joggers to wear instead of jeans. I will prob revert back in the winter though as I need jeans to wear with my ridiculously expensive dubbarry boots.
ooh where do you get your cuffed joggers? I bought a couple of pairs years ago (still wear them now) but getting a bit worn and could with new ones but cant find them anywhere. The ones I mean are fashionable not gym wear

@OnTheBrink1 to be fair, those examples aren’t great.
I think though, it depends on the wearer. If you have shapely legs, skinny’s look good, regardless of fashion. If you have chunky calf’s like me, they are accentuating my worst bit. I have some really fab mom jeans, very flattering, can be dressed up or down, and a better fit than the examples on the links.

Carycy · 21/05/2021 07:04

Xela 21. They are just from a local boutique but the brand is called studio. Bought three in different colours.

IReallyNeedMoreGin · 21/05/2021 07:10

I love them and wear them almost daily!

Oldpeoplesprinting · 21/05/2021 07:59

@OnTheBrink1 yes!! Those look bloody awful. And that’s on models who have long legs & great proportions. They make them look heavy round the middle & like their legs are far bigger than they actually are! Horrible (especially the first pair - they remind me of jeans from when I was a child and there was literally one pair in the shop & that was it - none of the choice we have now)

OhGiveUp · 21/05/2021 08:10

Can someone please tell me what 'mom jeans' are please, or even post a picture of them.
I seriously have no idea.

Lunificent · 21/05/2021 08:13

I find it easier to still wear them as I have very wide calves and ankles that look even more stocky in, for example, straight jeans and trainers.

ghostyslovesheets · 21/05/2021 08:45

Oh I love them - I have straight leg, boyfriend and even combats but I recently found Ivy jeans in M&S and hit them in all colours !

koolaid · 21/05/2021 09:22

I live in a university city (3 universities in fact) and the city centre is currently overrun with students again.

I tell you- none of them are wearing skinnies. There's mum jeans, flares, baggy jeans, I've also noticed a flared leggings (not sure of official name but this is what they look like) are very popular!

Times are a changin man.

Drunkenmonkey · 21/05/2021 09:25

I think mom jeans only look good on very slim figures whereas skinnies look good on anyone.
This is making me realise I need to go Jean shopping.

noblegreenk · 21/05/2021 09:31

I thinknot depends on where you live. My friend said that skinny jeans are definitely over around London. We live in the Midlands, and when we went out for food and drinks in a very trendy area, I was surprised to still see everyone in skinny jeans. I'm trying to move into other styles but I'm struggling to find anything that fits and looks nice. All I see is skinnies in the shops so I'm having to do my jeans shopping online, which isn't ideal.

Bluesheep8 · 21/05/2021 09:37

People wearing skinny jeans now are the equivalent of “moms who insist on still wearing straight leg jeans” 20 years ago.

Well according to this I'm committing a major fashion faux pas. I'm old enough to know what I look good in so I wear what I want.

RampantIvy · 21/05/2021 09:37

I thinknot depends on where you live

I agree. I live rurally, where it is currently wet and very muddy. Skinny jeans are the most practical for tucking into boots right now.

CatBumJuice · 21/05/2021 09:57

I've just discovered M&S Sienna jeans. They're fantastic for those of us in our 40s who want a straight cut with a bit of stretch...

Chickychoccyegg · 21/05/2021 10:05

I still wear skinny jeans, I love them.
My very fashion conscious teens wear skinny jeans, some with millions of rips, frayed hems ect, and when we went clothes shopping last week, all the shops had numerous styles and colours of skinny jeans, so don't know why people are thinking they're unfashionable, but ultimately wear whatever you like Smile

RampantIvy · 21/05/2021 10:07

I have the M & S Sophia straight leg jeans, and they have been brilliant.

Crabbyboot · 21/05/2021 10:09

Yes because mom jeans and flares don't suit me. Wear what flatters you not what is in fashion.

LindaEllen · 21/05/2021 10:31

I absolutely would if I hadn't got so fat over lockdown!

OrangeRug · 21/05/2021 10:34

I still wear them and have no intention of stopping. And I see loads of them in shops too. I'm only 4'11 and it's far easier to find skinnies to fit than other styles of jeans due to excess material around the ankle.

BigWoollyJumpers · 21/05/2021 10:42

What we all wore in the 80's Grin. Reverse fit essentially. You know the ones you roll up at the bottom a la Bananarama.
TheVolturi · 21/05/2021 10:46

I nipped in primark the other day and there seemed to be loads of skinny jeans? So can't be over?
