I wear them but they don’t suit me I don’t think, they enhance my short legs and make me look like my bum is non existent but I don’t like bootcut jeans or straight legged jeans, or boyfriend jeans but strangely enough I love jeans and skinny are the only ones I have Smile

@sarahc336

I think skinnies are going out of fashion more now as do many people stopped wearing jeans in lock down for comfort ans not the thought of shoving my legs into a pair of tight skinnies is awful so I've gone down the mom Jean route and love them. However I do feel skinnies do go better with ankle boots in winter so I'm going to watch what happens as winter comes back in, not sure how you can wear mom jeans ana boots etc. But skinnies will always be around ana really you should always wear what you want at the end of the day!!! Xx
I know what you mean, sportswear became really fashionable in lockdown, I wear joggers now and leggings for working out but they look great with body warmers and a long sleeved tight top and NB trainers, everyone seems to wear that exact outfit these days where I am, including me! Lol
DuchessOfSausage · 20/05/2021 18:04

They are still selling them in the shops. Most of the shoppers in my local town centre are wearing them. Teenage girls are wearing mom jeans.

ShadowKitty · 20/05/2021 18:06

I went in M&S for the first time in ages and they have so many jeans shapes! 'Mum' jeans, boyfriend, girlfriend, straight leg, cigarette leg - I wish I had time to try all the shapes on to see which would suit me best.

I did actually get a pair of straight legged ones and I like them if I roll them up a bit - have worn like that with flat lace up boots.

I think it's hard when you remember things first time around to view them as 'current'!

Skinny jeans are the only style that makes me look slimmer. Other styles add bulk and do nothing for my diastasis recti. Being short doesn't help.

LowlandLucky · 20/05/2021 18:14

I will never give them up, it is so easy to slip on my wellies when i am wearing them

Watto1 · 20/05/2021 18:14

Skinnies are the only jeans that fit me properly. I have a post c-section tummy, slim-ish legs and no bum. Other styles tend to gape at the back and give me builders bum!

TheBullfinch · 20/05/2021 18:20

Skinny, slim, girlfriend or straight leg for me, depending on what I'm doing.

I was out last weekend and everyone was wearing similar.

Mabelface · 20/05/2021 18:23

Love my skinnies, they're not going anywhere and I find them really comfy.

TheBullfinch · 20/05/2021 18:46

@DelbertGrady

I recently bought a parlor of mom jeans after wearing skinnies for years. Oh dear God, the comfort! I used to take my skinnies off as soon as I came home but with mom jeans I can comfortably wear them all day. Maybe I just needed a larger size of skinny!
I've always had a bigger size for lounging/comfort. Fine as long as you dont grow into them. Grin
Chloemol · 20/05/2021 18:46

Just wear what you want. I have all sorts and shapes and wear each depending on how I feel on the day, the top I want to wear or the shoes I am wearing

Who cares? No one unless you are really shallow

This! I'm a slimish 12 everywhere except my massive gut. Skinnies pull it all in, accentuate all the good bits and let me dress the fat bits as best I can. I loved bootcut one the 90's but it looks dire on me now.

I like to keep an eye to fashion, I'm 40 something, not dead, but I'd rather adapt and compromise the trends to suit my body shape and style than just follow everyone and look the same but a bit shitter. The same goes for very high necks and shapeless dresses - they are so horrible on me, but there are other shapes & prints which give a nod to the trend without having to look like Laura Ingalls!

Paddingtonthebear · 20/05/2021 19:01

Would anyone like to post some examples pics of what slim/skinny jeans are considered to still be ok and what are not? I haven’t bought new clothes for so long I have no idea anymore 🤣

MorrisZapp · 20/05/2021 19:05

I think this is now the third time that skinnies have been declared over by the fash pack but us pesky women just don't listen. That's why if you go outside, you'll still see a sea of skinnies, among other styles. I find them comfy and flattering so no way am I going back to boot cuts no matter what the style pages say.

MorrisZapp · 20/05/2021 19:06

Simple

Feel soooo frumpy in my slim jeans or bootleg after loving my skinnies for so long. They might restrict my circulation but I certainly feel way more trendy and better in myself The power of clothes?

Hm2020 · 20/05/2021 19:10

Just bought a new pair my thighs don’t agree with mum jeans Smile

Drunkenmonkey · 20/05/2021 19:42

I'm on the fence about skinnies. They are the most comfortable jeans I own as they fit like a glove, but they definitely don't feel 'fashionable' now.
I like to feel stylish and I wear quite a few loose tops and shirts etc and they can just look too baggy with a wider leg or mom Jean.

Flowers500 · 20/05/2021 19:47

They’re not fashionable anymore but they’re the only jeans that look ok on me. Flares make me look like a shire horse, anything loose or square and I look like a middle aged builder on a ciggy break.

Pinkylemons · 20/05/2021 19:47

Yep. My teenage daughter and older daughter still wear them too and both are very fashion conscious.

Coconut2010 · 20/05/2021 19:51

I live in skinny jeans and am always complimented on my look so no, YANBU.

I guess being very slim helps and I tend to complement them with relatively fashionable trainers/shoes and smart short (above the bum!) jumpers or jackets if I am after a more sophisticated look in the evening.

I do own a few other cuts e.g. mum jeans, boyfriend and funnily the family (husband + children, a couple of them being very trendy teenagers) much prefers me in skinnies.

Coconut2010 · 20/05/2021 19:52

*mom jeans not mum jeans Grin

RampantIvy · 20/05/2021 19:52

If they are no longer fashionable why do so many people still wear them?

How do you decide what is fashionable and what isn't when people are still wearing "unfashionable" clothes?

Daisy829 · 20/05/2021 19:52

Absolutely. I’ve got some mom jeans too but they just aren’t that flattering on me. Skinny’s for life!

OloBo · 20/05/2021 20:06

Best style for my body shape. Not giving them up for fashion.
