Of course I'm still wearing them - it's pissing it down here.

Waiting423 · 20/05/2021 17:19

Yes - I like them - they suit me - that’s all that should matter

MsTSwift · 20/05/2021 17:19

No because I have fashion aware teen girls and need to stay on top of my game! Skinnies and ankle boots (a previous everyday staple) now banished to back of cupboard. Actually good to have a change and be updated do t want to be in a rut.

newnortherner111 · 20/05/2021 17:21

Wearing clothes until they wear out instead of being some fast fashion follower (or slave to fashion) is to be applauded.

BramStoker · 20/05/2021 17:24

I still have skinnies and jeggings in my wardrobe but do feel the tide has now turned on them

I am wearing my Mom jeans more now and tend to just wear skinnies/ jeggings for WFH, supermarket shopping etc

I wouldn't wear skinnies for a night or day out now if I'm making an effort to look nice and there's a chance of being photographed!

LittleGwyneth · 20/05/2021 17:26

They're not 'in fashion' they're a staple piece. Saying that skinny jeans are 'out' is like saying that a white t-shirt is out. It's just part of a wardrobe. You're not 'on trend' if you wear skinnies, but you're also not on trend if you wear a black cocktail dress or a navy blue round neck jumper.

I've worked in fashion for years and I find people who actively try to include trends in their wardrobe rather than wearing what appeals to them to be extremely confusing.

AlexaTurnItDown · 20/05/2021 17:27

Yes, they fit, I like how they look on me and I don't give a shit if I'm fashionable or not as long as I'm clean and moderately tidy Grin

Alconleigh · 20/05/2021 17:28

I am still wearing them. I'm open to new styles but all the ones I see are epically unflattering; high waisted, cropped mid calf wide leg with a sawn off seam? No thanks. I am apple shaped with tremendous legs, but short; anything that deliberately ruches a load of fabric round my middle and then bags on my legs is going to look horrendous, no matter how fashionable it is.

@Donitta

People wearing skinny jeans now are the equivalent of “moms who insist on still wearing straight leg jeans” 20 years ago.
How does that explain all the teens / and twenty somethings l see in then then?
AuntMasha · 20/05/2021 17:31

Current trend suits me better. I’m tall, slim and long-legged. Skinnies make me look like a 🦒 .

LittleGwyneth · 20/05/2021 17:32

While we're on this topic, I'd like to point out that my defence of skinny jeans disappears when people wear them with heels. Do not do this. If you have any kind of thigh then you're creating a W shape, with teeny little feet at the bottom of a carrot leg.

RampantIvy · 20/05/2021 17:40

I think it is great that there are a range of styles of jeans to suit all body shapes. I still have my White Stuff jeggings (ideal for the current weather Sad), but also have straight leg jeans (M and S) and girlfriend jeans (Sainsbury's).

I tried on my old skinny jeans the other day - and remembered just how uncomfortable they were, so they have now been donated to the clothing bank.

MissMogwai · 20/05/2021 17:41

"Every day. They'll have to peel them off my dead body before I stop"

Same. I liked bootleg back in the day, but flares and their wet hems dragging me down are staying in the 90's.

Totally agree.

So much knobbery about an item of clothing.

Eminybob · 20/05/2021 17:45

I was late to the skinny jean party (held on to my bootcut for dear life) so I’m sure I’ll be the last to leave.

MagnoliaBeige · 20/05/2021 17:46

Same! But I’ve reached that stage in life when I wear what I like and feel suits me, couldn’t give a toss if anyone thinks I’m unfashionable
Laundrydragon · 20/05/2021 17:49

Skinny jeans are like coffee for me, just an essential part of life!

You might want to have a word with all the teens who wear them, they'll be delighted to know that Grin
freakyfridays · 20/05/2021 17:51

I tend to buy more boyfriend jeans at the moment, but I am not chucking my skinny ones. I wear both, with different style tops. Some of my tops only look ok with skinny. Couldn't care less what people think!

Twocanplay · 20/05/2021 17:51

I'm wearing my skinnies right now but I do feel very out of fashion!

DelbertGrady · 20/05/2021 17:53

I recently bought a parlor of mom jeans after wearing skinnies for years. Oh dear God, the comfort! I used to take my skinnies off as soon as I came home but with mom jeans I can comfortably wear them all day. Maybe I just needed a larger size of skinny!

freakyfridays · 20/05/2021 17:54

I am also still wearing my Uggs! Beautifully comfortable and warm and ideal to work from home during the lockdown.

I still look good even if I am not at the high of fashion Grin

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 20/05/2021 17:56

I wear clothes I feel comfortable in and I like. For me, that’s mostly skinny jeans or blacks leggings and long, loose-fitting tops.

Couldn’t give less of a shit if anyone thinks I don’t look trendy. I’m a 27 mum of two. I gave up caring what people thought of my clothes after DD1 was born.

sarahc336 · 20/05/2021 17:57

I think skinnies are going out of fashion more now as do many people stopped wearing jeans in lock down for comfort ans not the thought of shoving my legs into a pair of tight skinnies is awful so I've gone down the mom Jean route and love them. However I do feel skinnies do go better with ankle boots in winter so I'm going to watch what happens as winter comes back in, not sure how you can wear mom jeans ana boots etc. But skinnies will always be around ana really you should always wear what you want at the end of the day!!!
