To despair that people still vote Tory given their track record and outright dishonesty?

I don't get it. Its depressing. We deserve better than this surely? Why give them the green light? What kind of society do we want? One where liars get our approval?

Surely the bigger question is how are the other parties so utterly incompetent that people see the Tories as the only viable option?

Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens, all of whom I've voted for in the past and would love to vote for again all lie about one of THE most basic tenets of human understanding around the world. What a bloody woman is.

UrAWizHarry · 05/05/2021 20:45

The idea that the tories give a tiny fuck about women is one of the biggest jokes of modern times. Just take a look at the fucking arseholes on the front bench and what they think about women.

Tell me if Lisa Nandy and Angela Rayner give a fuck about women then.

That's how fucking shit Labour are, that a bunch of misogynistic pricks like Johnson and his cronies will do far less harm to women's sex based rights than our 'opposition'.

So completely true.
Look at the PM and see how he views women.

This is why the tories will win time and again ! :(
Brefugee · 05/05/2021 20:49

i don't get the "they're all as bad as each other"/"They all lie" argument.

Boris Johnson's brother has just been given a plum job at Dyson.

Don't any of you think that has even a slight whiff of corruption and combined with other character deficiencies it makes Johnson definitely not a fit and proper person to be PM. How can you support this?

the80sweregreat · 05/05/2021 20:49

If tomorrow was a nice May general election the Tories would win with even more seats than before.

Donitta · 05/05/2021 20:51

Until Labour changes it stance on women’s sex based rights, I will vote Tory. They could eat live kittens for breakfast and I’d still vote for them. This is literally the only issue that matters, all other policies are irrelevant until they fix this.

Probably, and how fucking depressing is that?

Politics in the UK is fundamentally broken. The government are a bunch of corrupt, self-serving wankers and we haven't had an effective opposition for about 20 years.

newnortherner111 · 05/05/2021 20:52

What we have in the UK may be a choice of political parties, but only choice in the technical or dictionary sense of the word.

I was on a work call today where we discussed in passing the candidates for London Mayor and how awful most of them are. Then someone remembered the best political leader of the last 25 or so years- Mandu, the cat who for a few years who was the joint leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party.

And this is why the Labour Party are more or less finished in its present form.

I can understand why labours position on this would be cause for concern, but voting tory on this matter is like voting to shoot your leg off when the alternative is to lose an arm.

The tories attitude to women and women's rights is just as bad. Don't let anyone say otherwise, because they are lying cunts if they do.

bsc · 05/05/2021 20:55

They may not value or prioritise women, but at least they know what the definition of one is.

the80sweregreat · 05/05/2021 20:57

Women's rights, arguing over wallpaper , no real policies , terrible leader, little credibility, the list is endless.
I loath the tories personally, but others don't and will continue to vote for them.

How is it the only issue that matters? literally children not being fed, corruption at the highest levels of government, union being broken up, NHS likely to be sold off, and an absolute joke of a cabinet, our reputation around the world being ruined, I could go on.

I don't see how if people have actually listened to Keir Starmer that they can say there's no opposition.

bsc · 05/05/2021 20:58

And this is why the Labour Party are more or less finished in its present form

Actually, I think that's down to their past stance on anti-Semitism, their lack of credible policies, and their complete failure to be an opposition party despite being the second largest party in parliament Hmm

the80sweregreat · 05/05/2021 20:59

The vaccine roll out has saved their bacon.

Veryverycalmnow · 05/05/2021 20:59

Haha, as if the only reason people could possibly believe the Tory party are awful is because they're 'Labour HQ'...
Have people seen how these idiots blundered through the early stages of the pandemic, causing hundred thousand unnecessary deaths? They don't care about ordinary people. They never have.
People are being lied to on a massive scale and somehow duped by people with ONLY the best interests of the billionaires (that keep them in power) at heart.
Unfortunately money is so powerful that it comes before truth and they own the media too.
It's so depressing because I know that many people who have been REALLY badly affected by this government and their shocking decisions will believe the bullshit and vote Tory time and time again.
For those saying it's about choice, have a real think a out mainstream news for a moment. People believe what they hear. It's not their fault. Who owns the press? I don't believe it's giving people a choice. It is lying to them.

TheBullfinch · 05/05/2021 20:59

@TownTalkJewels

No viable alternative.

The last election was like lining up to choose which way you want to be executed.

Awful.

This.
malificent7 · 05/05/2021 21:00

As much as i think the gender stuff puts me off, I still would rather vote Labour than Tory. Im voting Green from now on though.

RolloTomassi · 05/05/2021 21:00

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind

I hate them too, I could never vote for them, they are an absolute shower of shite and the worst government in living memory, my mum in her 60s says the same.

So what does that say about the opposition? That an incompetent government full of liars looks a better option? We have had years of the tories now, wtf have labour been doing in that time? Labour have been absolutely fucking useless since Corbyn, I had hopes for Starmer but other than being reasonable at PMQs (which you'd expect from a lawyer), what has he done? I have no idea what labour's policies actually are. I don't know what they stand for anymore and I don't think Starmer and the idiots who surround him do either.

I've always voted labour but until they can tell me what a woman is they won't be getting a vote from me. I totally understand women on here who will vote Tory because ironically they seem to be the only party who have any concept of women's rights, who thought anyone would ever write that sentence?! I can't vote Tory myself but I get it.

I'm furious at labour, they have been so crap for so long that a fucking clown like Boris has appeared to be a better option to many people. Labour are a huge reason as to why we have such a crap government. We have no opposition, I won't vote for anyone right now and I feel completely politically homeless.

Very well said.

Tbh I'm a Tory voter but am so displeased with this government that I WANT to vote the other way - but I just can't.

Will probably spoil my ballot which pains me, but none deserve to feel they've earned the seal of approval. All options on offer these days are AWFUL.

bsc · 05/05/2021 21:02

@Tuesdaysintheazores How is it the only issue that matters? literally children not being fed

Back in March 2020 was it labour standing up, demanding those on FSM were catered for during the holidays? No, it took a sporting personality to shame the government into action (and thank goodness he stood up for that!)

GintyMcGinty · 05/05/2021 21:02

I am in Scotland and need to use one of my votes for the Tories in order to try to keep the SNP out.

The SNP are also dishonest with a terrible track record so in a choice between Tory and SNP I will go with the unionist party.

MarshaBradyo · 05/05/2021 21:02
