To not want to shop at Tesco because of this?

Prices gone up generally unless you sign up to their club card. Significantly cheaper (reasonably priced) products if you're a club card holder. I reckon most people just sign up to the club card. I can't help but feel massively inclined to shop elsewhere (aldi) because I hate this kind of marketing. Not sure why it makes me feel like this. Pretty trivial. Maybe I'm far too stubborn. Anyone else feel like this or just me?

My mum is in her mid - eighties and has had a clubcard since they first came out, as have I. I have never received any spam e mail from them. Over the years I have had a week away, when you could buy airmiles with clubcard vouchers. We have had days out, restaurant vouchers, magazine subscriptions and one wonderful year, got all our Christmas gifts from Tesco Direct , all with triple value on the vouchers. In recent years I have used my vouchers for Denby and have purchased around £400 worth of stuff for just the cost of postage. Again, triple value on the points.
I shop at Tesco anyway, so I might as well benefit from the offers available. I don't know any company that doesn't collect data on us these days, so don't see tesco as any worse than anyone else.

The club card if free, I've had one for over 20 years. I've paid for holidays with my club card points in the past when you could pay for the whole thing with them and had loads of deals on days out. Now we get our pensioner rail cards with them for free. What's the problem? i don't buy any more than we need as I tend to shop on line.

sunshinelover2 What on earth do you really think Tescos are doing with your purchase info? The only thing mine does is stick my favourites in a list to make my online shopping easier. As for you paying the higher price! but letting us all know you are well off enough to order through Abel and Cole!! Most of us don't have that luxury.

This is the sort of thing they are doing with it @Doubletrouble99

Dh and I once did a bit of a price assessment between Tesco and Asda, what we realised is that Tesco was about 10% more expensive than Asda, but offered club card. Asda was 10% cheaper but not loyalty scheme.
If you use the club card points to get money off your shopping you end up with overall about a 10% reduction on your shopping.

So Tesco over inflate prices in order to offer them off with your clubcard. And for every person who doesn't use a clubcard, or who doesn't use their points off in store, they make 10% more profit.
Of course you can get amazing bargains by using clubcard on things like days out, but Tesco aren't paying for that.

lightand - the link you provided shows nothing I didn't know already. As i said I've had a club card for years and years. I don't get loads of emails or texts re products. The only thing I get is a weekly email telling me their latest offers. I also shop on line at Sainsburys and get the same thing re my nectar points. I'm not a slave to one company or one brand so shop in all the local ones for different things when times are normal and more often than not I shop in Aldi but as I've been shielding I've used the companies that deliver. So as far as I'm concerned this really is a none story. I am proof that I don't get bombarded with unwanted adverts, I just make the best of the offers that are around and really have better things to worry about.

I suspect the people who have loyalty cards etc are a lot more savvy where they shop and tend to shop around a lot.

@radiateforme

I don't sign up to anything as they always find some way or another to email you and I hate spam 😅
I've been a clubcard holder for years and years and I've never once had a spam email from them !!!

Yes they are paying for that!

Don’t shop there then.
