To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

I'm fully vaccinated too OP and have been for almost 6 weeks, you need to keep wearing it because:

  1. It's the law and if people stopped following laws there would be complete anarchy and most women, children and older people would be vulnerable.
  2. Lots of people including those in the twenties and thirties who are unlikely to be seriously ill by covid still have to wear them, but they have not been offered the vaccine yet.
  3. All HCP who have worked throughout the crisis, often without PPE till have to wear it for long periods of time even though we are vaccinated.

It's polite, it's respectful, it's lawful. and it won't be for long.

Timeisavirtue · 28/04/2021 22:34

I’d love too but there’s still a chance to pass it on. I will say though I will be over the moon the day we don’t have to wear them again. Having hay fever with a mask is not a pleasant experience 🤨

Whatisthisfuckery · 28/04/2021 22:36

You’ve gotta laugh at the covid lovers.

I’m worried about having the jab. You must have the jab to protect yourself and others.

I’ve had the jab so I think I’ll stop wearing my mask. No, you can’t do that, you can still pass the virus on.

Whether the so-called vaccine prevents transition of covid very much depends on whether people are being good little sheepies or not.

jakscrakers · 28/04/2021 22:37

I wear a mask to protect others. I am also an bad asthmatic and was asked to self isolate, i didnt, i carried on working as my job was not only keyworker, but child sensitive. Yes i can hide and ignore mask wearing saying i am exempt but i need to make others wear a mask so how could i seriously tell someone they need to wear a mask if i dont. it does not make my asthma worse, IF i felt my chest was getting worse i would not go to work, or leave the house. People are using this exempt thing wrongly

Mrsmadevans · 28/04/2021 22:37

I will be wearing mine for a long time yet because none of us know how long this vaccine is going to work for

Don’t be worried about having the jab, it’ll be absolutely fine.

Is it the law? Can you actually be arrested for not wearing a mask?
Angrypregnantlady · 28/04/2021 22:39

Oh well, if everyone else is doing it!

I don't understand how people are so bratty about them. I'm autistic, asthmatic and pregnant, I wear a bloody mask because I'm not also a selfish twat. I don't see people being selfish that's and think "well I might aswell be a selfish twat."

It's a tiny bit of fabric, it's not a haematoma suit, it's not made of jellyfish tentacles, it's equivalent to wearing pants.

ohgenome · 28/04/2021 22:39

@Whatisthisfuckery - put the wine down love you are making no sense at all

Fuckingcrustybread · 28/04/2021 22:40

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

Since you can still pass it on yes yabu- I’m guessing you maybe of the older generation to have been vaccinated twice - something I am expecting, a lovely attitude, two fingers up to the younger generation who have sacrificed the most and will be vaccinated last.
What a lovely attitude you don't have.
Angrypregnantlady · 28/04/2021 22:40

Fuck me. Auto correct. That's=twats. Haematoma= hazmat.

isitjustlockdown · 28/04/2021 22:40

I am looking forward to not having to wear a mask, but right now isn't the time.

Reports today show only a 50% reduction in transmission (after one dose). Data is not yet available for the rates after both doses however it could be expected that transmission will still occur (also there is lag between the dose being revived and the protection kicking in).

As there is still a potentially significant risk you could transmit the virus, stopping mask wearing before the majority of people are fully vaccinated is pretty selfish. Masks ion general public use are to protect others not yourself.

paralysedbyinertia · 28/04/2021 22:41

It's a shame that people can't be vaccinated against selfish, twattish behaviour.

It’s not a competition round who has suffered most 🤦‍♀️ And technically, no, the younger generation as a whole group have not suffered most. But it all depends on your particular definition of suffering- i would rate the suffering of older people effectively locked up in nursing homes very high. Those who have lost love ones. Those with long covid. India. But maybe you don’t. We both right based on our own experience. But it’s not a competition: you don’t win debates or change peoples’ mindset, by being antagonistic or hurling insults.

Especially when you are absolutely right about passing it on.

garlictwist · 28/04/2021 22:42

If love to stop wearing a mask as I hate it but you are being unreasonable. Many people (me included!) haven't had any vaccine so you should continue until they have.

Tistheseason17 · 28/04/2021 22:42

Here's a Biscuit and a Hmm
This must be a wind up or are you happy to transmit Covid to others? Ignorant.

Inthemuckheap · 28/04/2021 22:43

What a selfish attitude you have.

Most medical and care staff are fully vaccinated and many have had Covid--they still wear masks to protect others.

It's not all about you.

Imnothereforthedrama · 28/04/2021 22:44

Sorry but you still need to wear a mask unless you plan never to go anywhere so fully vaccinated or not wear one as not everyone has been vaccinated.
Like it or not !!

OnkasBigMoka · 28/04/2021 22:44

I am also fully vaccinated and intend to continue to wear my mask. Those of us who have had the oppotunity to get to two vaccines should remember all of those who did not and take steps to ensure that we don't put others at risk.

knitnerd90 · 28/04/2021 22:45

Great, have you seen the cases spiking in the USA because people have this attitude?

Besides, we can't tell at a glance who is vaccinated and who isn't, so anyone could use this excuse. I'm fully vaccinated but still wearing one when indoors (not home). Eventually I'll be happy to toss it but not when so much virus is still out there.

TroysMammy · 28/04/2021 22:46

I work in a GP surgery, we are all vaccinated but we still wear masks around patients and will continue to do so unless told otherwise. It is said you can still catch it and you can still pass it on, it's a risk we don't want.

GreenSlide · 28/04/2021 22:46

Well I'm CV and can't be vaccinated for another few months til I've given birth. Not everyone is as lucky as you so thankfully masks are mandatory for a bit longer.

pinkmagnolias · 28/04/2021 22:46

I haven’t seen anything recorded that a fully vaccinated person transmitted the virus. Has anyone else?
You obviously haven't researched it AT ALL before deciding to do as you please.

This is from the WHO website.

The clinical trials demonstrated that these vaccines protect people against disease. What we don't know yet from the clinical trials is whether or not the vaccines also protect people from just getting infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and whether or not it protects against transmitting to somebody else. So, this is a really important part of our understanding about what these vaccines do. Do they only protect against disease or do they also protect against getting infected and being able to transmit to somebody else, even if you're not having any symptoms?

Rupertbeartrousers · 28/04/2021 22:49

Well done for finding a new angle on the classic goady covid thread in aibu.

If this is what you really think, yabu
