To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

My mask has helped my terrible hayfever immensely as I whack it on and pollen can’t get through! I haven’t had a cold in over a year (used to get 5 or 6 each year due to travelling on trains). I’ll wear it as long as necessary and might decide to keep it if I think it has some benefits,

puppychaos · 28/04/2021 23:51

Just give it a wee bit longer until more folk are vaccinated. Being vaccinated doesn't automatically stop transmission.

Rainbowsandstorms · 28/04/2021 23:52

Such a selfish attitude. You may now be protected from serious illness but there are many people waiting to get their vaccinations. You can still catch and pass it on when fully vaccinated. It’s this kind of attitude that leads to another increase in numbers.

YorkiePanda · 28/04/2021 23:52

@Wildswim

I stopped wearing one a few months ago. Best thing I ever did. I'm asthmatic and it was making my asthma worse.
Same here. Felt much better. And still no Covid despite working in several healthcare settings Halo
Grooveisintheheartnahnahnahnah · 28/04/2021 23:52

@Thewiseoneincognito If op is fully vaccinated, why isn’t she safe?

Goldieloxx · 28/04/2021 23:53

@OnkasBigMoka I've taken comfort in the fact that now when I go shopping I can tell who the arseholes are, before Covid it was harder to tell Grin

OnkasBigMoka · 28/04/2021 23:54

@Goldieloxx amen to that!

Reinventinganna · 28/04/2021 23:54

I’m fully vaccinated. I wear a mask. I’ve had covid.

I still wear a mask to protect both my family and my patients (nurse).

Protect your son and others around you.

Grooveisintheheartnahnahnahnah · 28/04/2021 23:55

So..are we all wearing masks forever then 🤷🏻‍♀️

osbertthesyrianhamster · 28/04/2021 23:56

Yes. It will never be safe, doncha know.
didireallysaythat · 28/04/2021 23:59

I guess if you work outside you don't need a mask? But don't most people work inside? Am I missing something?

Bhappy12 · 28/04/2021 23:59

@Grooveisintheheartnahnahnahnah

So..are we all wearing masks forever then 🤷🏻‍♀️
Yeah, because the only two possible options are wearing masks forever and going against all scientific advice and stopping wearing them now.... Hmm

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

Since you can still pass it on yes yabu- I’m guessing you maybe of the older generation to have been vaccinated twice - something I am expecting, a lovely attitude, two fingers up to the younger generation who have sacrificed the most and will be vaccinated last.
That's very unfair as a lot of elderly people aren't taking that attitude at all. Maybe a small minority. Secondly, I have had both jabs as have many of my colleagues (not NHS) and we are aged between 20 and 60 so there are many, many younger people who have had the vaccinations by no and more by the day.

Op however actually sounds young to me and is being ridiculous and selfish to claim she is throwing away her mask and screw everyone else.

QueenPaw · 29/04/2021 00:06

@OnlyFoolsnMothers please remember the CEV people who are young and have shielded and given up a lot. We aren't elderly and yes, I'm fully vaccinated

But I will still be wearing a mask as I don't know how much protection the vaccine will give me due to my blood disorder

Happinessevaded · 29/04/2021 00:12

Must be a reverse or just goady thread rolls eyes

Nith · 29/04/2021 00:14

I'm fully vaccinated and have had Covid, and I still wear masks. Mostly because it's really no hassle and because that's the rule.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/04/2021 00:30

I will keep wearing mine because I have no serious medical condition to prevent me to.

And I am not a whiney little shit and have enough brain power to understand the benefits of TINY bit of discomfort (again, unless medical conditions are in play).

Sobeyondthehills · 29/04/2021 00:40

I don't think I have worn a mask in a good few months, but then I haven't been to the shops, or inside DS' school grounds.

I hate them, so therefore I have restricted what I do to not to wear it. If I had to though, I would.

HidingFromTheChildren · 29/04/2021 01:24

I'm going to keep mine as clearly it's very common for people to accidentally spit on you when talking & generally mask-wearing is a healthy practice IMO now.

Zotter · 29/04/2021 01:39

This is the US CDC’s current recommendations for vaccinated people. Does say fully vaccinated people can now meet with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing, but recommends still wearing a well-fitted mask in indoor public settings. As the article you linked to says the more vaccinations increase, the more everyone’s risk of infection drops so not quite there yet, new variants aside.

To never wear a mask again!
vodkaredbullgirl · 29/04/2021 01:45

All residents and staff where I work have been fully vaccinated and we still have to wear masks.

Quaagars · 29/04/2021 02:02

Heartening to see YABU 82%
Its two in the morning so can't be arsed to elaborate further lol
Just 'cos you say you have been fully vaccinated doesn't mean everyone else has
Surely vaccinated or not people want to try and be sensible around others.
(I do anyway)

PerveenMistry · 29/04/2021 03:10

@PlanDeRaccordement

You can still transmit Covid to others even if fully vaccinated. So I’d still follow whatever rules your country has for mask wearing.
Exactly.

How selfish and ignorant the mask-deniers are.

ButtonMoony · 29/04/2021 03:30

Come visit us on the Isle of Man.

No masks, no social distancing - whoop.

You would have to isolate for 7 days on arrival, but that will be done away with in about 4 weeks when you will all be welcome with just a negative test on arrival.

Free to go to the theatre, go to the pub (completely normally) do what you like.

Our hospitality sector would appreciate the income and we would love to show you our beautiful mask free (apart from those who want to wear them) island

Torvean · 29/04/2021 03:56

I'm fully vaccinated as of this week. I'm in my 40s. Much as I hate my mask ill continue it till the advice changes.
