To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

Can you show us the guidance, from scientists involved with the vaccine, which says you no longer need a mask because you pose no risk.

Bramblespoint · 28/04/2021 22:14

@Wildswim

I stopped wearing one a few months ago. Best thing I ever did. I'm asthmatic and it was making my asthma worse.
And yet COVID wouldn't make it worse?
Morechocmorechoc · 28/04/2021 22:14

Article today, jab reduces transmission by 50 percent, not 100!

Marmalady75 · 28/04/2021 22:15

I’m alright Jack - screw the rest of you!!!

gallbladderpain · 28/04/2021 22:16

@MasieMaskless

I haven’t seen anything recorded that a fully vaccinated person transmitted the virus. Has anyone else?

You’d have to have enough viral load to transmit it and that’s the whole point of the vaccine, to stop it replicating, isn’t it?

I’m early 40’s OnlyFools but a carer for my disabled son and have suffered massively as well due to lack of services for him thanks.

And I'm a carer to a very young vulnerable child who cannot yet be vaccinated so maybe think of the risks you pose to others by not wearing your mask. There isn't enough evidence regarding transmission rates for vaccinated people yet given not a huge proportion of the population is fully vaccinated yet.
aiwjwbwbwh · 28/04/2021 22:16

How wonderfully selfish of you OP. Some of us are still working on a daily basis around positive cases with no sign of a vaccine coming our way any time soon. You can still spread the virus despite being vaccinated 🙄

Jillybons · 28/04/2021 22:17

Totally agree with PPs. I don’t ‘need’ to wear a mask as I’ve personally been vaccinated (young-ish but DP is a doc on COVID wards so higher risk). However I don’t want to risk passing it on to others more vulnerable than me. Just do the right thing. It’s only a few more months

I find it odd therefore that you don’t consider the risk of you no longer wearing a mask on OTHER vulnerable people

It's been headline news today that the vaccine reduces transmission by up to 50%.

That means transmission is still being recorded from vaccinated individuals to others.

1vandal2 · 28/04/2021 22:17

Considering most of those of us who work in the places you legally have to wear a mask in are the last ones to get vaccinated so can still get seriously ill if your unmasked and probably not socially distancing yourself from us by deliberately leaning around the screens put in place you are so unreasonable.

Leonberger · 28/04/2021 22:18

The mask stops you spreading it through your droplets, coughing and sneezing.

By not wearing it all you are doing is risking other people, many of whom have not had the opportunity to be vaccinated yet.
Vaccinated people can spread and transmit the vaccine, and can also still catch Covid themselves although won’t be effected as badly or may be asymptomatic.

If your fine with that than do so. Personally I think it’s a massively selfish attitude to think I’m vaccinated so I’m fine, screw the rest.

Warmduscher · 28/04/2021 22:20

@Allmyarseandpeggymartin

I’m looking forward to ditching them op and well done on your fully vaccinated status but how are you going to get round the requirement to wear them in places?
“Well done”? Hmm
ZoBo123 · 28/04/2021 22:21

@bramblespoint but the mask is to protect other people not yourself. If it makes your own asthma worse (not being able to breathe is a terrifying feeling) than that is worse than the unlikely situation of not giving Covid to someone else.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/04/2021 22:21

YABVU OP

For starters, the rules say everyone should still be wearing them.

You can still transmit COVID after vaccination- maybe less likely but you can. So take care of others who haven’t been vaccinated and wear it.

Gleefully skipping about without a care because you’ve had the vaccine is a very selfish attitude.

AGirlCalledJohnny · 28/04/2021 22:21

I honestly don’t get why people don’t understand the vaccine doesn’t STOP you getting Covid, it helps PREVENT you from getting very sick and/or hospitalised.

A year in, you’d think people would have a bit more cop on

HowToBringABlushToTheSnow · 28/04/2021 22:22

Are you always so self centred OP?

MaxNormal · 28/04/2021 22:24

OP I'm with you. People are going to need to let go of their security blanky face coverings soon so best they start getting used to actually seeing some faces again.

Pumperthepumper · 28/04/2021 22:24

I don’t think masks are written in law are they?

I would happily wear one indefinitely though. Quite like having my face covered and it’s Baltic here just now.

Northernsoullover · 28/04/2021 22:24

My brother who has brittle asthma and my dad who has COPD struggled at first because they feel horrible when you first start wearing them and it made them anxious. But they ploughed on because they say that their lung condition means a mask is far more important than not wearing one! They know its not going to give 100% protection but its going to do something.
Anyway I get the feeling you just posted for a bunfight. If you don't want to wear one then I really don't give a shite because I keep well over 2m from anyone masked or unmasked but to change or register to a goady username 🤷‍♂️ yep. Pass me the popcorn.

ohgenome · 28/04/2021 22:25

How thick are you OP? Seriously?

Howtomakeevery1 · 28/04/2021 22:25

If you’re happy being gleeful in risking the health of those not yet eligible to be vaccinated go right ahead, otherwise keep it on

Msmcc1212 · 28/04/2021 22:30

You don’t get to make up the rules for yourself. The rules are still masks on in indoor spaces. It’s not that big a deal. ICU staff wear the full PPE on very long shifts. Wearing a mask in shops is hardly a big sacrifice and protects others from you passing it to them asymptomatically. If you can wear a mask then you should - until it is announced that it’s no longer necessary.

userxx · 28/04/2021 22:31

@Wrenna

I decided I’m always wearing one in stores from now on until forever! I think it helps keeps colds and flu away, and I like the social distancing that goes with it too. I currently wear two masks and will continue to until I’m 3 weeks post vaccination

Please tell me you're joking.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 28/04/2021 22:32

I think that update actually makes it worse OP...

You were happy enough to accept an early vaccine to protect your son and were happy enough for him to be shielded but couldn't give a fuck about others and their children as long as you and yours are fine.

MrsGulDukat · 28/04/2021 22:32

I've been fully vaccinated since Feb and I'm still wearing a mask.

Just because the half of the population has had their first jab (some even had second) doesnt mean its time for everyone to rip their mask off.
