To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

My dad (in his 70’s) has one mask.
He has used it since lockdown 1.
He has never washed it

It really can’t be good

Coldties · 10/05/2021 20:04

I doubt anyone is saying you need to wear one forever but I think it’s a bit premature before all adults have been offered their vaccine. Hopefully it’s only a few more months, all adults will be vaccinated and cases even lower.

If it was the other way round and everyone 18-40 was vaccinated and people said it’s fine as I’m vaccinated so I’m going to stop wearing my mask I’m not sure everyone over 40 would be impressed.

I wouldn’t give a shit; in fact I’d be happy @Coldties

Masks are ridiculous

Coldties · 10/05/2021 20:29

@WouldBeGood that’s an interesting view point, is there anything in particular you don’t like about masks or do you not think they do anything?

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 20:33

I hate everything about them and think they’re useless.

Happy to keep well away from people.

Maybe buy him some single use masks?

Single use masks trash the planet

Coldties · 10/05/2021 20:41

@WouldBeGood you are right they aren’t a substitute for socially distancing, if you can always stay atleast 2metres and outdoors from others then your right there isn’t much point in you wearing one.

From the scientific papers I’ve read it varies but most suggest there is a benefit for indoors where the air circulation isn’t great and droplets from coughs / sneezes can hang about and travel. Guess that’s why it was government guidance to wear one.

I think even in years to come if more scientific data comes out that masks didn’t do much then there’s no harm done either way if people wear a mask however if more data does come out to support masks and it does lower transmission it’s a different story. For me I would rather wear one to air on the side of caution. But each to the their own, everyone has a right to an opinion.

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 20:45

Yes, @Coldties each to their own

I don’t eat red meat, only sustainable fish, but local produce, don’t fly (17 years now), wear charity shops clothes (for maybe 25 years), make our pets’ food, walk most places, drive my electric hybrid when I really have to, reuse and recycle like a nutter.

If my asthmatic son is most protected by surgical, one time use masks as College, then that’s what he is going to wear.

WouldBeGood · 10/05/2021 20:57

Your choice @DenisetheMenace

DenisetheMenace · 10/05/2021 21:14

Yes it is, thankfully.

WaverleyPirate · 10/05/2021 21:17

Totally utterly selfish.

So many people have not even had first vaccine.
