To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

I am probably exempt

If you only think you're 'probably' exempt then you're probably not. Exempt people know why they're exempt.

My mum is exempt, she has bad asthma that means an attack usually puts her on a hospital nebuliser for a week, but she still chooses to shield and wear a mask on her daily exercise.

Xenia · 03/05/2021 13:15

Exemption under the English regulations includes if you find it hard to wear the mask - I cannot remember the exact words but it is not just for people with asthma and that kind of thing. It is drafted so widely that if you don't feel good in the mask you are exempt what is why I said I am probably exempt. However I don't think we have yet had a test case on the meaning of the words in the regulations.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 03/05/2021 13:39

YANBU-advice is only to keep wearing so that the unvaccinated fo not feel aggrieved.
Total nonsense to be requiring them now.

@BonnieDundee

People refusing to wear masks are contributing to making this thing worse

I thought things had markedly improved over the last few months. I must have misread the stats Hmm

They act like it’s a talisman to ward off COVID. The evidence behind wearing masks is already very shaky, and it’s hard to imagine that the mask will be effective where the vaccine fails—it’s probably to just stop ‘anti-maskers’ from claiming they’ve been vaccinated and are thus free to go about their business unmolested
Mxflamingnoravera · 03/05/2021 16:22

I like wearing a mask, I love the anonymity and warmth. I will continue to wear masks to protect others and because I want to.

WouldBeGood · 03/05/2021 16:28

YANBU. They’re ridiculous at the best of times and I’ll be joining you. Only wear one half heartedly when needs must.

Fine if people want to wear them, but time for the compulsion to end.

Parker231 · 03/05/2021 16:30

There are millions still not vaccinated and some for medical reasons can’t be. I’m wearing a mask to protect them, not me.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 03/05/2021 16:34

Was driving through town today - loads of people out, thankfully not a mask to be seen.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 03/05/2021 16:35

Agree let people wear them if they want to, but not allow them to be compulsory.

merrymelody · 03/05/2021 16:38

Unbelievable selfishness from some posters now refusing to wear masks because they feel "safe".

Alsohuman · 03/05/2021 16:40

You keep saying this but it simply isn’t true. 70% of the population is now vaccinated. The remainder aren’t sufficiently vulnerable to need protection from you. The brainwashing has really worked.
TeddingtonTrashbag · 03/05/2021 16:42

Unbelievable (well, no - actually believable snd predictable) selfishness from the misanthropes who want everyone to exist forever in the same miserable joyless world as them.

Parker231 · 03/05/2021 16:47

Alsohuman - have never been brainwashed and am low risk for Covid although no wish to risk long Covid. Have had one vaccine but would like my younger friends and children to have the same protection.
Teddington - don’t know where you are but I was in a large central London supermarket yesterday and everyone had their masks on. Same each week.

you don't have to wear one outside. Why were you expecting to see one as you drove through town? That's very weird.
ilovesooty · 03/05/2021 17:10

70% aren't fully vaccinated surely?

Tal45 · 03/05/2021 17:54

70% is BS only 14 million (out of 66) have had both doses and a lot of those won't have had the three weeks needed for the protection to fully kick in and only just over half the population have had the first dose. Again a lot of those (us included) won't have had the three weeks needed for it to kick in. Some people will make up any crap though to try to make their point.

RampantIvy · 03/05/2021 18:04

The couple of teenagers on my train on Saturday wearing their masks under their chins were told to put them on by a police office who boarded on at the next station.

I don't like wearing a mask as they steam my glasses up, but I'm not a big baby, and just wear mine and get on with it.

Snaketime · 03/05/2021 18:18

I've NRTFT but YABVU, wearing a mask doesn't protect you it protects others, there are still lots of people that still are NOT vaccinated.
I'm still not vaccinated and I work in a food shop, so classed as a key worker, I have worked throughout every single lockdown, I have to serve lots of people on a daily basis, but I can't have the vaccine because I am under 40.
You continue to suffer the discomfort to protect people like me and my family.

Good luck. You’ll never be able to ditch the mask (Covid is endemic now).
Mrsdarwin · 03/05/2021 19:23

I think it’s only fair to wear masks to protect everyone until they have been offered the vaccine. It seems a bit “I’m alright Jack” to stop using one before this point.

More belittling of people who cannot wear masks. How awful Sad

WouldBeGood · 03/05/2021 19:57

I’m very happy not to be close enough for long enough to spread disease to strangers without any need for a mask.

RampantIvy · 03/05/2021 20:02

More belittling of people who cannot wear masks. How awful

How awful that you completely misunderstood my post @BonnieDundee. I was not belittling people who cannot wear a mask. Having steamed up glasses doesn't mean I can't wear a mask, it just makes it slightly more inconvenient. I don't have asthma aor any conditions physical or mental that means I can't wear a mask, and have every sympathy for people who can't wear one for any reason.

ripples101 · 03/05/2021 20:10

If you can’t wear a mask - and you’re are legitimately exempt, then don’t wear a mask

If you can wear a mask are not legitimately exempt, then wear a mask.

It is literally one of the of easiest choices in terms of it being yes or no,

ripples101 · 03/05/2021 20:10

Then don’t wear a mask *
