To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

You seem to have been against every measure to try and control the virus @Xenia. Why?

It isn't just about you.

I will repeat what I said upthread.

Basically we need the vaccine and masks and widespread testing and effective contact tracing and social distancing and meeting people outdoors or in well ventilated areas and practise good hygiene to prevent the spread of covid.

Known as the Swiss Cheese analogy.

To never wear a mask again!
RamsayBoltonsConscience · 01/05/2021 09:20

You can't know which other people are fully vaccinated and should continue to wear the mask in public. I've just received my second vaccine and that now means all of the SLT in my school have received both jabs. When we get together now, we won't have to wear masks.

ClarkeGriffin · 01/05/2021 09:23

Don't wear one if you want. But also don't come back whining if you catch covid I guess. You're not immune just because you've had the vaccine. Other people have had both and still died from covid. Your life to gamble though.

Parker231 · 01/05/2021 09:30

@RampantIvy - thank you. The Swiss cheese analogy explains it so well. The chart should be on the side of every bus, tube station, school etc to continue to educate everyone.

Alconleigh · 01/05/2021 09:43

I'd be delighted if they stayed on public transport. I'm commuting again and tbh I'd forgotten how revolting people are. The sniffing, the hacking cough, the sneezing.......as a hay fever suffering asthmatic I'm clearly sometimes in these categories myself but I think masks would be brilliant to reduce colds etc when we get to autumn - winter and the Tube is a giant Petri dish again.

Can anybody answer my question- where is it that you wear masks voluntarily anyway? They are mostly worn in places where no mask means no entry.

UsedUpUsername · 01/05/2021 09:50

Well we are not going to do all of that. Get the vaccine if you are worried about people moving on and living life normally again, as is their right. Enough is enough.

UsedUpUsername · 01/05/2021 09:53

Imho this is why they are still scaremongering about post-vaccine spread. We don’t have a system where you can identify a vaccinated be unvaccinated individual and with the vaccine passport looking increasingly unlikely (thank god) then they will exaggerate this very small risk.

OutspokenNotThatFunny · 01/05/2021 09:57

I'm a dick too then as I stopped wearing one 6m ago due to ptsd. Best thing I ever did.

Vaccine passports are happening for foreign travel.
Mask wearing will be around for a while imo - anything and everything which prevents an increase in cases.

Yes, I meant to distinguish that domestic passports are looking unlikely.

That’s a valid medical exemption.

Yeah it has. But then people complain they caught covid.

You’re not a dick. You have a very obvious reason for exemption.

There’s no comparison between medical exemptions and people who just won’t wear a mask because “civil liberties”.

Parker231 · 01/05/2021 10:17

There has always been a difference between a valid medical exemption v the protesters who are wilfully ignoring protecting those around them.

"You're not immune just because you've been vaccinated. Other people have had both and still died from covid. Your life to gamble though."

Unless the OP is very frail and elderly, then data shows that she won't be seriously ill. Very few and only those very frail, are going to hospital. Stop the false fear spreading. We will live with Covid like we do heavy colds/flu. We aren't there yet, but those who have had both vaccinations and are under 70, pose very little risk and with Social distancing, without dangerous variants, pose little risk.

The data coming through shows that 75% of vaccinated people won't develop enough viral load to transmit the virus. Up to 49% of the population won't get infected after vaccination. Work through those figures and the risk to other people under 70, in the vaccinated population is similar to flu risk. If people aren't taking up the vaccine, who can, then they accept the risk.

I still think that we should wear masks to protect vulnerable younger people and children. But there's certain shops that children don't have to go into and masks could come off.

I go for weekly Covid tests and I think that's the way to go, rather than all of the restrictions.

Coldwine75 · 01/05/2021 11:39

People refusing to wear masks are contributing to making this thing worse, the vaccine does NOT protect you 100% you idiots

If the vaccine doesn’t bestow immunity what’s the point of it? Would you like to post some evidence of someone who’s received two vaccinations and died of covid?

The vaccine is doing what it is meant to do but you still need to wear a mask and socially distance

DumplingsAndStew · 01/05/2021 12:33

@Alsohuman

Sorry, can you be more specific? I can see from that link that as of April 27th 1553 people were in hospital with Covid in the UK. Can you point me towards where it confirms that all of these people were previously frail?

The cdc state on there that the vaccines aren't 100% effective. That's just typical of flu vaccines unfortunately. You can get the flu vaccine each year and still get flu because a new variant wasn't included. They will just need to fine tune this one essentially, that will take time. But to think it 100% protects you and you are now immune is false. It helps protect you more than anything else, so you are much less likely to get it. Doesn't mean you definitely won't.
