To never wear a mask again!

MasieMaskless · 28/04/2021 21:58

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

People refusing to wear masks are contributing to making this thing worse

I thought things had markedly improved over the last few months. I must have misread the stats Hmm

Ginuwine · 01/05/2021 17:29

@Dee1975

You can still pass on. So your reasoning is a little selfish. It’s a mask. It’s really no big deal.

I agree it's not a big deal either and have comfortably worn one for as long as it's been part of the strategy to combat COVID-19.

However for those spirited and independent of will (for they never miss an opportunity to tell us this), masks are "face nappies" worn by "sheeple".

These folk can't stop complaining about how much they "itch", they're "restricting," they're "awkward and unnecessary"... etc etc. Ad infinitum. Every thread such as this.

And the thing is, if you have PTSD, asthma, you're pregnant, it's fine - no one hates on you here. You have valid exemptions and have always been supported thus.

It's the constant whingers on here that just dismay - it's a constant drumbeat of "you're all sheep, none of you want this to end (my personal favourite)" etc

Just accept it's one year of your life!

Canvasphoto · 01/05/2021 17:33

Absolutely fine as it your choice but then it should be my choice to be allowed to punch you when you come within two metres of me in the supermarket. I haven’t been offered the vaccine yet and neither have my kids. Thanks for only thinking of yourself, you sound like a lovely person.

Helloumi · 01/05/2021 17:55

I will happily keep wearing a mask for years to come. Even If I am the only person in a shop or on public transport wearing a one, I feel so much safer doing so.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 01/05/2021 18:02

aside from covid

other germs generally, definitely continue wearing on public transport
keeps my nose and face warm if it's cold
stops all that fluffy brown stuff from trees at the moment making me sneeze.
easier to pretend I've not seen people I'd rather not talk to.
favourite mask has cute sloths on

whats not to like?

BonnieDundee · 01/05/2021 18:37

Followed by whats not to like?

"Thanks for only only thinking of yourself" says the person who thinks they should be able to punch someone. OK Hun 😂

Pulled into a garage today for fuel. Young man at the next but one pump was not wearing a mask but had on a high viz tabard which said “please keep 2m distance to help keep me safe”. Never seen one before.

A perfect example of the people I am very happy to continue to wear a mask for. Presumably vulnerable, enough not to be able to tolerate a mask but not quite enough so to warrant a priority jab but still at heightened risk if infected. He was maybe mid-twenties. A few more weeks and he will have had his first jab (if he can take one).

No skin of my older nose, or anyone else’s who has benefitted from younger people making sacrifices for them. First jab gives good protection (though personally I’d be quite happy to continue with my mask until they’ve all had their second come September. I think us oldies owe the youngsters)

Canvasphoto · 01/05/2021 19:23

@OrangeRug so you think it’s fine for a person to touch my baby in their pram or come within 2 metres and I have no right to be angry?

CovidCorvid · 01/05/2021 19:26

I’ve been fully vaccinated for a number of weeks now and it hasn’t crossed my mind to stop wearing a mask even though I personally feel safe. I don’t want mask wearing, etc to continue indefinitely. I will be delighted when it ends but in the mean time I follow the rules.

ilovesooty · 01/05/2021 19:28

Angry is one thing. Punching people is another and in any case you couldn't do that from 2 metres away.

DenisetheMenace · 01/05/2021 19:41

You have every right to be furious, completely understand where you’re coming from.
So many older people who are now vaccinated seem to have decided they no longer need to comply.

People like my parents (in their 70s/80s) and my husband and I (CEV in 60s and late 50s) owe you and others in your age group the most enormous debt of gratitude.

Please don’t punch anyone though. tempting though it must be, because you’re the one who will be penalised.

Thank you 💐

Canvasphoto: please, just wear your mask (if you can) and show respect by keeping your distance. It’s not difficult.

Mrsdarwin · 01/05/2021 19:41

Around here the phrase punch someone in the face means to be angry I wouldn’t have taken it literally 🤣😂🤣😂

YorkiePanda · 02/05/2021 23:31

I’m curious. How are you going to tell that the person you’re punching is actually someone who just doesn’t wanna wear a mask versus someone with a hidden disability? I mean...you must have some serious powers of mind reading there. You thought about applying for MI5? Sure they’d be interested.

Frownette · 02/05/2021 23:45

I've got used to them now after an initial reluctance/discomfort. I don't think this means I am a brain washed guinea pig. It just means I don't minding wearing them as it prevents to a certain extent droplets getting further spread with all sorts of things, not just COVID. I'd play it by ear because no-one wants another lockdown.

SpicyTool75 · 03/05/2021 01:58

I wear a mask to protect others.
You are wrong and there’s still a point to wearing yours.
Don’t be a dick.

FFS THIS!

Xenia · 03/05/2021 09:19

People have different views and lots of people are angry. I am against masks. I am probably exempt but have worn one to avoid being punched (or more likely in our local Waitrose to avoid a scene) and I will be delighted when they are abolished in terms of legal requirement and probably only use those shops which do not choose to continue to impose them.

People are punching those exempt from wearing a mask?
Pumperthepumper · 03/05/2021 09:27

Oh sorry, should have read further up. No, people are not actually being punched.

nibblette · 03/05/2021 09:43

@MasieMaskless

I haven’t seen anything recorded that a fully vaccinated person transmitted the virus. Has anyone else?

You’d have to have enough viral load to transmit it and that’s the whole point of the vaccine, to stop it replicating, isn’t it?

I’m early 40’s OnlyFools but a carer for my disabled son and have suffered massively as well due to lack of services for him thanks.

The short answer is you're going to have to wait until enough of the population has been vaccinated to generate enough herd immunity, and also for adequate research into virus transmission rates among the vaccinated to be determined. Otherwise, if a vaccinated person doesn't wear a mask they are treating everyone else around them like guinea pigs without their consent. x
To never wear a mask again!

The R rate has increased slightly so no chance of any changes to masks and social distancing. Still millions of people to be vaccinated

The number of cases, hospital admissions and deaths is decreasing every day. 72% of the adult population is now vaccinated. You can social distance and wear a mask if you want, there are millions of us who won’t as soon as it’s not mandatory.

If you can wear one for your shopping, you are not an exempt.

I don't get why Brits don't get this
