Tens of thousands of people protested in London yesterday, why isn’t it in the news?

What is going on with the news these days? Whether or not you agree with anti restriction protests, surely the public have a right to be informed about a protest that large? I’m feeling increasingly uncomfortable with the censorship. Anyone else?

OP posts:
JassyRadlett · 25/04/2021 08:17

OP, why do you think the political ‘leaders’ on that march haven’t used their platforms to condemn the racist behaviour on the march. Why do you think that it? Don’t you feel uncomfortable about that?

DropDTuning · 25/04/2021 08:19

Unfortunately there has been coverage of these racist, idiotic bullies.

NutellaEllaElla · 25/04/2021 08:20

I was aware of the idiots marching. Rolled my eyes and payed far more attention to the distressing scenes in India.

@whatswithtodaytoday

The BBC routinely do not cover protests, especially while they're going on. They might get s mention on the 10 o clock news if everyone has dispersed.

I've marched against austerity and Brexit and there was almost no coverage.

If it's anti-government the BBC won't cover it.
User135644 · 25/04/2021 08:23

@Stoptalkingtome

Maybe because it's not fair to mock people who have donated their brains to YouTube. I've never seen so many below average intelligence people in one place before.
I thought the pubs opening would stop these braindead protesting against a virus types, but I guess we'll have to wait until indoor hospitality opens.
MarshaBradyo · 25/04/2021 08:25

They’ll probably keep going when everything is open. Finding something ridiculous to feel affronted by.

MarinPrime · 25/04/2021 08:27

It was on the news but apart from the Twitterati most people just aren't interested. There are far more important things happening in the world.

Stoptalkingtome · 25/04/2021 08:28

Selfish, over-privileged fuckwits, the lot of them.

CocoLady · 25/04/2021 08:29

The mainstream media do not want to mention it because it's about anti-lockdown and nearly a million people went !
And they aren't allowed to give it a massive amount of coverage as they don't want more people waking up to the shit show that is Covid 19 the gov lockdowns!!

JassyRadlett · 25/04/2021 08:32

Or maybe because ‘twats are being twats again’ isn’t actually all that newsworthy.

Rhannion · 25/04/2021 08:32

I would be more interested in seeing the treatment dealt out to the females workers in Dublin, than see the idiots in London, some of whom were wearing yellow stars for fucks sake! Shocking and disgusting

Sargass0 · 25/04/2021 08:32

@Lesserspottedmama

Clearly I need to diversify where I get my news from. BBC news have said nothing about it. Seems like an awful lot of people to write them all off as morons and idiots. I would be interested to hear their points of what they feel so strongly about now things are starting to lift.
This was the real point of your post wasn't it? Seems like an awful lot of people to write them all off as morons and idiots. Give over with the faux need to diversify where I get my news from you just wanted to start a froth ....
PermanentTemporary · 25/04/2021 08:33

[Hmm]

@MNHQ I wonder if the OP would like the title edited to say 'Upset about limited coverage of protests' now that their goady title has been shown to be incorrect?

It WAS covered by the BBC! 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Not sure what the issue is here? I saw it on several news outlets, and heard about it on the radio...and still came to the same conclusion: idiots without masks on breaking the law 🤷‍♀️

FlyingBurrito · 25/04/2021 08:35

If it's anti-government the BBC won't cover it

Is a pro-government protest a thing?

thecatsabsentcojones · 25/04/2021 08:35

Wearing yellow stars to compare this situation to the Holocaust is absolutely unforgivable. Seems there’s a certain section of society that can’t get any perspective.

Plus we’re heading to the end of these lockdowns, don’t know why they’re protesting something that because of vaccination is about to end - the vaccination they are so set against.

There’s no rationality going on whatsoever but they can fuck off with the antisemitism.

hettie · 25/04/2021 08:38

It is/was covered by msm. The telegraph, independent and standard are covering it...Not sure there was a million people there thoughConfused

Can always tell a poster is rattled when they go crying to MNHQ 😂😂😂
SquirmOfEels · 25/04/2021 08:43

If you look at MSM articles, the consensus is that +/- 10,000 people were at the demonstration. So yes, the thread title includes hyperbole.

But despite that, and the pretty unified tone of all the posts, 57% think OP is NBU

OhWhyNot · 25/04/2021 08:44

It was in the news and on the BBC website as one of the main stories

But there are bigger issues as in India many people a day are dying from Covid and their health system just can’t cope

Far more important than a group of people who for many can just not accept that they can’t always do what they want to do

Blueeyedgirl21 · 25/04/2021 08:46

Because we shouldn’t give them attention
Bunch of middle class white cry babies who want attention because they’re so privileged they have nothing else to cry about

cariadlet · 25/04/2021 08:48

I've just read the report of the protest on the Mirror online. What a bunch of stupid selfish twats.

I can understand the frustration with repeated lockdowns (although I don't personally object because they have driven down rates of infection). But the mask refusal is so petty, petulant and unscientific. I find that really contemptible.

LemonRoses · 25/04/2021 08:48

The wearing of yellow stars was abhorrent and indicative of the nature of the extremely self-centred, idiots who fancied a day out.

Poor, poor India. Terribly sad and the world needs to act to support them and help prevent a global fall out. Catastrophic on both a global, national and individual level.

JassyRadlett · 25/04/2021 08:54

I would be interested to hear their points of what they feel so strongly about now things are starting to lift.

It’s so unfortunate, isn’t it, that Laurence Fox and his crowd aren’t on social media so you can’t go and see directly what they’re saying?

Oh wait, I just checked and Luvvie McTwatface is still pontificating all over Twitter.
