AIBU - to wear once only? It’s costing me a fortune in underwear as they wear out/ grey quickly

2 - 3 days. I have quite a big collection so I'm able to let the work ones build up enough to be able to do a mesh bag full on the delicates cycle once a week or so.

Picklesbaby · 15/04/2021 10:41

@3JsMa

Never. They are so saggy now that I just tuck them in my high waist pants. No need for a bra.
😂😂😂😂😂😂

Soft sport type ones get washed daily but I wear them for bed . The ones that actually keep my tits off the floor get 3days normally . They cost ££ and need hand washing

Lalliella · 15/04/2021 10:42

@Gobbeldegook

Daily but I wear sports bras. I hand wash nice bras, also after each use. Cheap bras I just chuck in the washer (also daily) with the rest of the clothes and when the wire wears through I pull it out.

Hygiene is important.
Don't be a scruff.

Hygiene is important. What would happen to you if you washed your bra less frequently? Would you catch a terrible illness?
HeronLanyon · 15/04/2021 10:42

Since lockdown my bra wearing has been minimal tbh. So this last year I can easily have a bra on the go for a couple of weeks. I don’t put it in a drawer though - never put worn clothes in drawers or wardrobe after understanding how they attracts moths drawn to out scent etc.

Hallyup5 · 15/04/2021 10:42

Probably like a week unless it's sweaty, but I'm currently wearing breastfeeding bras and couldn't afford to buy enough to change them everyday. It not like it's touching any smelly bits.

Beautiful3 · 15/04/2021 10:43

Once a week but it depends, I sniff the band it make sure it's not smelly, if it is, it gets washed. Sports bras get washed every time.

Megan2018 · 15/04/2021 10:47

2-3 times, less if sweaty.
I’m still BF but only short feeds twice a day. Boobs aren’t leaky though but after 2 days or so I prefer a fresh one.

FanPanCan · 15/04/2021 10:48

I love these MN competitive skank vs hygiene freak threads Grin
I fall in the skank camp. Bathe a couple times a week, wash bras whenever I remember, change bedding whenever I can be arsed...

AryaStarkWolf · 15/04/2021 10:49

@ShirleyPhallus

I take it off after an hour or so and bleach / boil wash at 90 degrees. Anything else is discusting tbh
Grin same
mewkins · 15/04/2021 10:51

I'm like Vivienne Westwood - hardly ever bother washing them Grin

YouokHun · 15/04/2021 10:52

I pop on a clean bra on Christmas Day. I take it off in April and if it doesn’t try to crawl towards the laundry basket under its own steam and if it doesn’t attract many flies I pop it back on until Christmas.

DarkishBlue · 15/04/2021 10:53

I wear a bra 3 or 4 times before washing it and even then can't help thinking it doesn't really need it. Not dirty or smelly or sweaty. Also I leave them for a day between wears. Seems like I'm about average so that's reassuring.

BearSoFair · 15/04/2021 10:54

Two or three days. But I usually have it off by 5pm when I know I'm not going out anymore!

luckylavender · 15/04/2021 10:55

I wash mine in a handwash programme. Also use an aspirin in a wash if white, to stop them going grey.

Insertfunnyname · 15/04/2021 10:55

About 2 weeks

Only 90?! I boil everything I own every 10min.
annacondom · 15/04/2021 10:59

Normally twice a week, but up to a week. I only have three bras that fit me now, and it works fine. Clean knickers every day though. I sleep in them so sometimes twice a day.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 15/04/2021 11:05

Once I put on a bra I take it off immediately and burn it.

No, not really. 2-3 wears unless I've been sweaty.

thenightsky · 15/04/2021 11:05

7 to 10 days and then I only hand-wash very carefully with soap and tepid water, then leave to dry away from heat (over the shower door). At £50 a bra, I need them to last as long as possible.

marriednotdead · 15/04/2021 11:07

Once, but I am in the sweaty despite daily shower camp.

I am a bra fitter and see all states of bras. Most people are generally clean and —say— they wash their bras at least once or twice a week. However there definitely women who never wash their bras- said garments are often greasy and greyed with decaying dead skin. In summer many bras will become wet with sweat.

And sweaty boob creases can and does lead to under boob thrush and:or sore cheesy discharge

RakeThrough · 15/04/2021 11:10

When it either looks or smells like it needs washing.
I can go well over a week sometimes.

ticketstub · 15/04/2021 11:13

About every 2 weeks.

79andnotout · 15/04/2021 11:14

When they are dirty or smell. Like all my clothes.

And before the germ police come out - I have a PhD in Biochemistry, make friends with your bacteria, they're an important part of your ecosystem:

Are you boasting about usually having it off by 5pm Bear? In office hours too! I only ever managed that at weekends.
imsanehonest · 15/04/2021 11:14

Wait, what? You're supposed to wash them?!
