Will you be spending 3 hours queuing to get into IKEA and another 2 hours trying to pay?

I'm desperate for some fabric so Dunelm or John Lewis for me

@IAmTheDuke had black sticker stuff all over the windows this morning I'm afraid.

I will be avoiding town anyway this week due to the media circus and copious amounts of people wandering with bunches of flowers despite the poor Queen saying not to Hmm

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 11/04/2021 15:59

really itching to go to IKEA - will watch how things go over the next few days to see how bad the queues are. I'm only a 20-25 min drive away, so might think about going late in the evening.

Also need to go to the woodwind shop to get an oboe and a flute tinkered with.

81Byerley · 11/04/2021 16:00

None , as the fact that the government has decreed these businesses can reopen does not mean that Covid has disappeared.

LakieLady · 11/04/2021 16:02

Waterstones.

It will be so fab to be able to browse books that aren't supermarket best sellers.

EternalOptimist7 · 11/04/2021 16:02

None - going to wait at least a week

purpledagger · 11/04/2021 16:08

My priority is getting waxed, so it will be beauty maintenance for me.

I've booked a day off work one day next week so I can hit the shops and plan to go to Uniqlo, body Shop, Next, Lush, Gap, Clarks and H&M.

I've been able to buy most of what I need online during lockdown, but I miss having a wander around the shops.

wlv12 · 11/04/2021 16:09

Can’t imagine anything worse than the crowds and queues tomorrow!

I’ve got a tattoo booked for Tuesday where it’s 1 person allowed in, that’s my main thing this week.

TheFairyCaravan · 11/04/2021 16:14

None. I’ve got test drives booked at BMW, VW and Seat later in the week. I’m having my hair done on the 21st.

I can’t think of anything worse than the queues outside IKEA and Primark tomorrow morning.

Florelei · 11/04/2021 16:26

We will wait a few weeks I think. If I can! I want to go to Next. Also, the molton brown Outlet store near us.

I’m really looking forward to it. My eyebrows are getting waxed next week!

alltoomuchrightnow · 11/04/2021 16:27

I don't have time to read whole post but re IKEA, hopefully the queues won't be as bad as before -
There will now be three separate ones -
One for Click n Collect
One for Returns
One for usual shopping

If you go to Returns and then want to shop after, you don't need to go back out to queue again.

alltoomuchrightnow · 11/04/2021 16:27

and for me , I'll hit the chazzas (when not working at the above...)

Mulhollandmagoo · 11/04/2021 16:28

I need to get my daughter's feet measured and some new shoes, sometime this week. I work in the finance dept of a non essential retail business, we've been barely scraping by operating a click and collect service up until now and we open our doors to customers so 🤞 all runs smoothly

Ohnomoreno · 11/04/2021 16:29

I'd like to get the kids a shoe fitting but it'll be carnage. I'll wait .

alltoomuchrightnow · 11/04/2021 16:30

(but bear in mind, IKEA will still be bloody INSANE outside!)
They will be counting people in and out as before. Don't come too late in day as if store is at full capacity you may not be allowed entry and will queue for nothing. They WILL turn away at a certain time, regardless of how long you've queued before. You also need to allow plenty time to queue again inside, to pay.
You can now do Finance on a phone app.
You can visit Bistro but restaurant will remain closed.

VaggieMight · 11/04/2021 16:32

I'm getting my hair done tomorrow, and I'll pop to Boots just because, although I won't bother if it's busy.

LadyLolaRuben · 11/04/2021 16:35

Beauty salon tomorrow. Gel nails and full body spray tan. No occasion, just for a change and some colour to feel a bit brighter. Will be nice to chat to the staff who work there too, I've missed seeing them

Eyevorbig0ne · 11/04/2021 16:36

I have missed tk maxx and primark. But I dislike queues, parking hassle and crowds. So I'll leave it a couple of weeks (meantime we'll get another lockdown probably🙄).
I am very excited at how peaceful my park walk will be though 👍 all the people will be in shops, queues, car parks, traffic jams or pub gardens.

elephantasia · 11/04/2021 16:37

Primark at 6am Blush

FangsForTheMemory · 11/04/2021 16:38

Might go to a bookshop.

TurquoiseDragon · 11/04/2021 16:40

I might take my lunch time walk through town to see what's open, otherwise I'll be working and no time.

sassysuspenders · 11/04/2021 16:51

None because I just pushed a 7lb 60z baby out of me

I'm seeing us heading back into another lockdown with the way people are acting

poppycat10 · 11/04/2021 16:54

I would like to go to Decathlon (not sure why it was closed anyway as it's a bike shop) but will wait a week or so until the novelty has worn off.

IntermittentParps · 11/04/2021 16:57

My local second-hand bookshop run by a slightly odd bloke Grin. Can't wait. I love it.

Inthemuckheap · 11/04/2021 17:00

None of them. Will be in the office as I have been for past year.

Office is near an industrial estate with lots of shops - am dreading the traffic tomorrow.

BruceAndNosh · 11/04/2021 17:02

@DenisetheMenace

Have you discovered Pound fabrics (online)?

Don’t laugh, I always look there first now, have bought some astonishing bargains. Usually deliver in a day or two.

Unfortunately I need to match some fabric and one retailers idea of "Natural" colour can be anything from off-white to dark beige

I've never been into pubs but I would like a cafe lunch with real plates instead of a takeaway in cardboard.
