To think the late Duke of Edinburgh would hate a man with messy hair

Mr Johnson could not even be bothered to comb his hair when paying tribute. Disrespectful.

I can imagine what the Duke of Edinburgh, a man who dressed smartly would think of that. Probably including words that are not printable.

It’s not just the hair. He looked an absolute state whilst doing his address today. The suit was thrown on and wonky, the tie wasn’t done up properly and the shirt wasn’t sitting right. He really did look awful.

People saying YABU obviously missed the BBC News.

Moomin12345 · 09/04/2021 17:39

His hair is actually one of his least repulsive attributes, so yabu.

Griselda1 · 09/04/2021 17:42

I thought it was a respectful speech well delivered but it's hard not to be transfixed by the hair.

SwedishEdith · 09/04/2021 17:43

@jetadore

His hair’s like that all the time though isn’t it? Even at the cenotaph. It’s deliberate so people who judge by appearances will take him for a harmless bumbling buffoon, rather than the mendacious opportunist shitbag he is.
I think it's also because he's going bald so he messes it up to try to hide that.
LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/04/2021 17:45

That was my overriding thought when I saw his statement. How utterly bloody disrespectful of him, and why did none of his hangers-on point it out? It's not as if it was even breezy in Downing Street, judging by the other reporters I've seen from there today.

DeadButDelicious · 09/04/2021 17:46

I am the last person to criticise someone's hair, mine looks like a rats nest at the moment it's over grown and in desperate need of a good cut. Besides his hair always looks like that. He does it on purpose.

His suit could of been pressed though. Given the age of the Queen and Prince Philip a pressed black suit on standby doesn't seem like an unreasonable thing to have. That thing looked like it had been shoved down the back of the sofa.

LookAChicken · 09/04/2021 17:47

My mum might mention his appearance later.

And no it doesn't affect us really and she'll never vote for his party and yet his carelessness does grate on her.

He is the prime minister after all.

cateycloggs · 09/04/2021 17:58

It has often been said that the DofE was someone who noticed and judged a lot by physical appearance so he would have inwardly marked the PM down as I am sure the queen has in their meetings and for more than B.Johnson's appearance. I am not a royalist but have noticed what a consummate player of personal presentation the queen is.

As others have said B. Johnson (or Johnson B.) is doing it deliberately as with every other nasty trick he plays.

FreekStar · 09/04/2021 18:08

Haa hahahahah! His hair grows like that? So funny what people believe!

Oldsu · 09/04/2021 18:09

Yeah and if he turned up with cut locks everyone would be moaning that he got a hair cut during lockdown

Peregrina · 09/04/2021 18:44

Combs and hair gel are both cheap.

GeidiPrimes · 09/04/2021 19:52

More and more lately, I find myself thinking that surely Boris Johnson must be a big fat troll. Like Trump.

GeidiPrimes · 09/04/2021 19:54

Because I often feel the are avin a larf at our expense most of the time.

Karmakarmachameleon · 09/04/2021 20:04

YANBU OP.

And I feel a bit sorry for anyone who honestly thinks it’s unreasonable to expect the most senior politician in the country to run a comb through his hair before addressing the world’s media about the death of the husband of our longest-serving monarch. Those are some low standards for male behaviour you have there.

UrbanRambler · 09/04/2021 20:15

I agree, he looked even more untidy than usual. Disrespectful, under the circumstances.

I think his hair is thinning on top, so he tries to fluff it up to hide the fact.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 09/04/2021 20:19

Boris' unruly hair isn't the determining factor for standards and some posters are sounding more and more unhinged.

Prince Philip was an elderly man who died, the Queen's consort, yes, but a human not some sort of mythical being. Sad for his family. Everyone else equating messy hair with respect really ought to try to get some sort of grip on things and stop banging on about what he would have thought about the prime minister's bloody hair.

Boris doesn't care what the media thinks of his ministerial decisions. Do you honestly think he will give a hoot that some randoms on Mumsnet think he's not showing respect because he's in need of a comb? Bonkers! Not him, this board today.

Peregrina · 09/04/2021 21:09

Most of us make an effort to look clean and tidy if we go to someone's funeral. Johnson wasn't speaking as a private individual, he was representing the country, not about to go for a drinking session with his mates.

randomer · 09/04/2021 21:13

@Peregrina,both

kittykatzz · 09/04/2021 21:14

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe I don't agree at all, I think it's disrespectful for Boris to be addressing the nation on any matter looking like that. It's all a joke to him looking as dishevelled as possible and showing that he doesn't care but I think it's extremely arrogant. Remember the stick Jeremy Corbyn got for his choice of clothing. Double standards. The man is an embarrassment.

malificent7 · 09/04/2021 21:19

You are spot on op...i've long been bemoaning the fact that hairdressers should open just to give Boris a decent cut. It has made a bad situation intolerable!

SylHellais · 09/04/2021 21:37

Boris Johnson is a fucking cunt. He deliberately messes his hair up before he appears on camera and that’s what he did today. I have actually seen him do it.

Absolute prick.

LookAChicken · 09/04/2021 21:43

Why would you do that? Mess your hair on purpose ?

Confused
SylHellais · 09/04/2021 21:44

Confused

Because he’s a cunt.
donquixotedelamancha · 09/04/2021 22:14

To think the late Duke of Edinburgh would hate a man with messy hair

Entirely depends on context. Is the man in question black.

B33Fr33 · 09/04/2021 22:24

It's his act. Pity the fool that can't see through the self serving shit.
