To think the late Duke of Edinburgh would hate a man with messy hair

Mr Johnson could not even be bothered to comb his hair when paying tribute. Disrespectful.

I can imagine what the Duke of Edinburgh, a man who dressed smartly would think of that. Probably including words that are not printable.

OP posts:

While I doubt PP would have cared (would anyone care specifically about a “lack of respect” to them personally in this way?) I really wish he’d just brush his hair sometimes. It did seem particularly bad today.

Rukaya · 09/04/2021 14:56

Boris could do what many others have done - but some clippers from Amazon and ask his wife to trim his hair

He doesn't have a wife

tabulahrasa · 09/04/2021 14:59

But that’s his hairstyle, it’s not like that because he hasn’t brushed it, that’s how he chooses to style it.

I mean, it’s awful, but he puts actual effort in to make it look like that.

52andblue · 09/04/2021 15:02

@thecognoscenti

Yes BJ does it deliberately. It's part of his schtick. I know someone who has been in work meetings with him and he will mess it up deliberately before he goes anywhere he might be seen by the public or press. It allows him to get away with being a total shit because there's an element of 'aw, silly old Boris'. He's a very, very crafty manipulator of opinion.
Agreed.

But it still makes us look like fools internationally, having voted for him.
(and not just because of the hair!)
I imagine PP would find BJ fairly irritating, (not just because of his hair)

MillyMollyMandyish · 09/04/2021 15:04

someone was posting about this on Twitter and I though how tasteless.

Let's not focus on BJs hair, FGS.

I have met the D of E as part of my work and I doubt he'd have cared about B's hair.

Sh05 · 09/04/2021 15:05

It's the first thing I thought when I saw him you are right, it would have been a little more respectful to have combed it down.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 09/04/2021 15:12
Ooh that link won't work. Let's try again: www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/boris-johnson-record-sexist-homophobic-and-racist-comments-bumboys-piccaninnies-2019-6%3famp
Those out of context quotes get dragged up every time. The use of “picannies” and “water melon smiles” were chosen precisely to emphasise the fatuous nature of white people ( Tony Blair / The Queen) visiting LEDC countries to make worthy speeches.

Also the letterbox comment with reference to Burkas. The comment was actually categorically defending women, who he said, should be allowed to wear what what they want regardless of how others see it.

I’m not sure why people are scared of him being extremely clever or capable of manipulation. He’s supposed to be running the country. That requires you a) to be a bit clever and b) to manage people with diametrically opposing views. If having stupid hair helps, why not.

viques · 09/04/2021 15:16

@Harrystylesismyjam

God I hate Johnson’s hair. Do something with it you useless idiot. Brush it, look presentable. Not like you’ve just crawled out from under a hedge after a night on the sesh.
It’s not as though hair products are limited to Macassar oil these days, a bit of gel, wax or even a dab of brylcreem would tame the savage locks.
herecomesthsun · 09/04/2021 15:18

I think the late Prince would have found the repetitive and ubiquitous news coverage boring, and bloody ridiculous Grin RIP. I like the idea of him being "never dull" though.

ExConstance · 09/04/2021 15:22

He is going very bald, his vanity makes him do anything he can to cover it up.

YoniAndGuy · 09/04/2021 15:22

It's appalling because it's so embarrassing - because it's deliberate. He deliberately 'wears' his hair in a mess to send the message that he's got that edge of eccentricity that means it's ok to bend the rules, etc.

Yep, just like your average teenager.

Flowerlane · 09/04/2021 15:24

Seriously Hmm

I doubt Prince Phillip would have even battered a eye lid at it.

Twinkie01 · 09/04/2021 15:29

Jesus, I.ll be sure not to commiserate on anyone's death unless I've got my best bib and tucker on and have combed my hair.

FFS DoE wouldn't have given a toss.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/04/2021 15:35

Interesting how some posters who think Boris’s hair is disrespectful in the circumstances, can’t be bothered to spell Prince Philip’s name correctly.

wildthingsinthenight · 09/04/2021 15:36

Yes definitely all deliberate.
Look at me I'm a bit daft but I'm harmless and loveable honest..

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 09/04/2021 15:36

All PP's obituaries are saying he didn't suffer fools gladly. So I suspect it would be more than Johnson's hair that would've irked him.

Vursayles · 09/04/2021 15:38

Personally I think his hair looks godawful, but the very posh seem to have a way of getting away with it in a strange affable floppy kind of way. I’m not sure PP would have cared that much, he might have called him a dirty scruff and laughed but he didn’t strike me as a petty man. However if Bojo was in the military then yes, I think he probably would have had some choice words.

There is also the argument that Bojo might just have very wild unconventional hair that doesn’t respond well to grooming. Or he may have that weird fluffy hair condition like Einstein? Who knows.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 09/04/2021 15:40

Indeed. I suspect we'll have 'amusing' anecdotes (untrue and imagined) about Prince Philip and how well they knew him.

Boris' hair is really neither here nor there and the state of it has no bearing on paying respects.

MarinPrime · 09/04/2021 15:42

His hair is thin and fly away, a dab of Brylcream would sort it out

duvetdreaming · 09/04/2021 15:49

As seen in his guest appearances on HIGNFY. It's all a carefully planned public persona.

Drink
Feck
Girls
Arse

I swear he’s getting worse each day.

ImpatiensI · 09/04/2021 15:49

I agree OP, he looks bloody awful (tribute to PP!) and really cringe embarrassing to the max. What an idiot.

52andblue · 09/04/2021 15:50

What they have/had in common is both are/were very privileged men.
PP had a pretty difficult start in life, but then spent many years in a gilded cage doing a fairly decent 'turn' in exchange for a life of luxury.

BJ had a fairly privileged start & has morally squandered it - imo.
I cannot imagine him being mentioned in Dispatches like PP was.
I imagine PP considered himself 'dutiful' and respectful of the Queen and his adopted Country. I don't imagine he would consider Johnson to be similarly dutiful or respectful of his position. The failure to slick down the deliberate Clown hair for the VT is a small example of that.

MintyMabel · 09/04/2021 15:52

The increasingly majority in Scotland backing independence

That’s a rather misleading statement.

Peregrina · 09/04/2021 15:56

He looked an absolute fright - crumpled suit and messy hair. Couldn't someone have lent him a comb?
