No. SIL and BIL live next door to PIL. Great when the DC were little and free childcare on tap. Not so much now they're teens and want space from GP who seem hell bent on continuing to push themselves into every aspect of their lives. No special bond there. Just irritation.
And SIL and BIL now expected to 'payback' all the help they've had over the year as PIL health fails. Can't move. Beholden. Frustrated.

Yes I would happily live next door to fil. We live in the same town and see him a lot anyway. Dc are teenagers and often go to see him on their own.

He is great and always happy to see us.
