Just that, really.

Absolutely YES .. they are totally FAB .. been married 29 years.. so know them well .. they are fabulous in every way and (not that it's a decider ) have saved us a fortune in child care !

Yummymummy2020 · 07/04/2021 22:33

I wouldn’t like to. I like them but I also like not living too close!

BashfulClam · 07/04/2021 22:36

I rather trap my left fit in a cupboard door, repeatedly!

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 07/04/2021 22:39

I did for about 10 years. We made it work. I can answer any questions if you like.

Blacktothepink · 07/04/2021 22:41

No. Fucking. Way...

BrownEyedGirl80 · 07/04/2021 22:42

Fuck no its bad enough 3 min drive away

madaboutrunning · 07/04/2021 22:47

Not a chance - not in a million years. We'd not long moved to our current house when MIL spotted the house next door was for sale and said she'd like to take a look. I must have had a real look of horror on my face as it was never mentioned again. DH wouldn't have wanted it either.

DDiva · 07/04/2021 22:48

No.

They are nice. Pleasant in small doses. But popping in whenever they fancy buy walking a few yards, not a chance.

elfycat · 07/04/2021 22:51

I'm pissed off that they moved to the same county as I live in (we're NC)

But I wouldn't move DH near to mine, even though they're great. There's a lot to be said for having a little space to yourself.

JellyNellie · 07/04/2021 22:52

Yes I'd love this my FIL is very lovely 🥰
My MIL passed away when my partner was two so never got to meet her although sounds such a lovely person.
I'd also live near my Mother would be a great help withy 4 DC.
But we actually live in the middle of both our family's which is roughly 60miles from each.

BashfulClam · 07/04/2021 22:55

We actually nearly moved into the next street but DH said no as he knew we’d never get her away from our door, have no privacy and never be able to go anywhere alone.

IReallyNeedMoreGin · 07/04/2021 23:05

Nope. ExMil worked across the road from our house. She made a nuisance of herself 3 times a day....before work, lunch break, after work. Didn't stop there either. Also visited Saturday and Sunday as she lived within walking distance of work and us.

boymum1x · 07/04/2021 23:10

I live next door to mine & I love it! But can see why some people wouldn't I've got super lucky with mine but some are unbearable xx

Tillygetsit · 07/04/2021 23:20

Hell no.

Trixie78 · 07/04/2021 23:21

No

Cowgran · 07/04/2021 23:32

Not a chance. My MIL had no boundaries and was incredibly interfering and judgemental. Distance was necessary. My mum OTOH is great about boundaries, and is respectful of my husband and my choices. We could happily live next door to her.

greybluehumpbackwhale · 07/04/2021 23:37

They're nice enough. I'm told they wouldn't be popping round all the time. Not especially old and don't need any type of care yet.

hellomom · 07/04/2021 23:37

No. Wouldn't feel like I can be myself in the garden. And what about over hearing arguments

Cherrysoup · 07/04/2021 23:44

Mil, yes, she could live with us. Fil, no, I’d have a nervous breakdown! My parents, heck, no. My brother chose literally the furthest university he could and I went abroad at 18. I’m now 5 hours away and being pressured to move closer. Never gonna happen!

Babyfg · 07/04/2021 23:49

I moved In with mine 🤣 it's worked out well for us

Nanny0gg · 07/04/2021 23:55

As a MiL I'd rather they didn't

I want my privacy too

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 08/04/2021 00:00

In laws, yes. My mother, no.

Confusedmeanderings · 08/04/2021 03:12

We lived next door but one to my parents. It worked really well and certainly made caring for my father much easier once he was widowed and elderly. We did make a point of giving each other space though.

MinnieMountain · 08/04/2021 06:10

We live 10 minutes walk from MIL. It suits us all. I wouldn’t live next door though.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 08/04/2021 06:14

I love my pils but if we were so close I would never see my dc!
