Just that, really.

OP posts:
laselvar · 07/04/2021 18:45

I could, but DH wouldn't!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 07/04/2021 18:46

Yes very happily. I actually lived with my MIL for a year which was OK, but separate houses next-door-but-one would be perfect. We used to live very close to my parents too, and DH was happy with it.

Fembot123 · 07/04/2021 18:46

I would, I like them.

ShinySquirrel · 07/04/2021 18:47

Fuuuuuck no.

My MIL lives in a place where everyone knows everyone's business, and pre-pandemic, popped round to each other's houses all the time, uninvited.

She got so close to her next door neighbour that they are now in a relationship and live across both houses.

If we lived that close, I'd either offend her by locking my front door, or leave it unlocked and deal with her taking baths and other liberties in my house.

Pumpkinpie1 · 07/04/2021 18:48

Depends on your in-laws.
My MIL was wonderful sadly she passed away but my FIL is still 90 and very active. Love him to bits
So yes I would like it especially with COVID and lockdown missed seeing him

HelebethH · 07/04/2021 18:48

Are they old?
Future carer for them?
Do you get on?
I loved my MIL but would not have wanted to live that close

ColourfulElmerElephant · 07/04/2021 18:48

Yes but only because they largely leave us to it and have such a huge garden, we’d still have to drive to visit.

Tinydinosaur · 07/04/2021 18:49

Not if you paid me.

LittleLadyCece · 07/04/2021 18:50

Not a chance. The house next to my parents came up for sale whilst we were looking to upside they were so excited but it was a big fat no from me and DH!!

santabetterwashhishands · 07/04/2021 18:50

I'd rather live in a tent in the middle of nowhere than live near my mother in law 😫.
She's the devil 👿

NCforthisconvo · 07/04/2021 18:51

I live very close to my own parents and 20ish mins from my in-laws. We wouldn’t move next door but one from my in-laws unless the house was free and that’s DH saying it, not me!

WeWereOnABreak10 · 07/04/2021 18:52

Yes I would in a heart beat. ❤😆

TillyTopper · 07/04/2021 18:52

No.

tf23 · 07/04/2021 18:52

No but my uncle lived in one house as a child, got married and moved to the house next door (my grandma was still in the first house). He then divorced and moved to the house next door. So in his lifetime, he lived in three houses all next to each other.

Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 07/04/2021 18:52

Yes for fil but ideally next door so that we could put a gate in the fence and he could take over the gardening for us

No to mil (they are divorced with new partners ) New Zealand would be ideal

user1471505494 · 07/04/2021 18:53

My Daughter and Son in Law moved opposite us and lived there for 2 years before buying a house 5 minutes away. It was never a problem. We did have a key and only ever used it when asked. We never turned up without asking. It suited us all

Member984815 · 07/04/2021 18:56

Not a chance

golddustwomen · 07/04/2021 18:56

Not a fucking chance!!

Justcashnosweets · 07/04/2021 18:56

Yes. My Mum lives next door, and wouldn't mind at all living next door to my in-laws.

Sh05 · 07/04/2021 18:57

Definitely not.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 07/04/2021 18:58

Nooooo. I love them but MIL has no boundaries and they’d promise to be reasonable and then be round all the time. I don’t think they could resist DH if he was that close.

I wouldn’t move that close to anyone though, not even my best friend.

musmusdodo · 07/04/2021 19:00

I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon

CrazyAllAroundMe · 07/04/2021 19:00

I'd rather poke out my own eyes.

I could live by my own family though inc siblings and their families.

Returnoftheowl · 07/04/2021 19:00

I like my in laws, but absolutely not.

B33Fr33 · 07/04/2021 19:02

They're alright and it's sad we can't see them more as they are 3 hours away. But, probably not, no!
