Are you-

  1. Redundant
  2. On furlough/flexi-furlough
  3. Kept your hours and job as it was before the pandemic

Just interested to see. I was made redundant last year. So was DD and a couple of other family members and friends. Been looking for several months and none of us been successful yet but some have had interviews.

OP posts:

3 - had a promotion and payrise but had been looking for alternative employment pre lockdown.
Feeling pretty grateful that I wasn't successful at changing jobs right now

HOkieCOkie · 05/04/2021 22:48

3 worked all the way through as a nanny

Vivana · 05/04/2021 22:51

Last year I changed jobs and now in one I love. Better hours better pay and can do overtime whenever I like.

Eaumyword · 05/04/2021 22:58

  1. Same job, increased responsibilities and tasks, they reduced my hours blaming Covid, but it was a convenient excuse to restructure. No pay rise in 7yrs and this year, a pay cut! I'm only a bit above min wage!

Good luck OP with finding suitable employment. Hope you get fixed up soon Flowers

CatFaceCats · 05/04/2021 23:05

I actually found a job a month ago - after 10 years of not working!
So I don’t know what number I would be :)

Summertime21 · 05/04/2021 23:18

3 for me 1 for dh

MajorNeville · 05/04/2021 23:20
  1. I went through risk of redundancy Nov/Dec but got new job in the same company. I actually much prefer it to my previous job, so far.
Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 05/04/2021 23:23

4 - events worker in zero hours so no furlough, work or redundancy but possibility of work coming back from June

Dh did 5 months furlough and is scheduled to be furloughed for whole of July

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 05/04/2021 23:23

I was 1. then promptly found a new and much better job with better pay and conditions. 5 months in and I just got a major promotion. I've been very lucky.

Dobbyisahouseelf · 05/04/2021 23:27
  1. after 1st lockdown, new job 3 months later.
MarriedToMyBestFriend19 · 05/04/2021 23:32
  1. For both myself and husband

I know of 2 people who were furloughed and one who got made redundant

Teapotsandtablecloths · 05/04/2021 23:40

Made redundant in lockdown 1 - just started a new job but had to take huge pay cut. It was that or lose everything, so I'm going with it for now.

PickAChew · 05/04/2021 23:50

I don't work (carer)

DH is 3 and wfh and enjoying the lack of long commute.
BIL is 3 and increased hours as works in a supermarket. Student dn also now works in same supermarket.
In and out of work BIL now has stable job with prospects, in retail. SIL a definite 3.

XYZXYZ · 05/04/2021 23:56

4 - currently on maternity. Will be returning to full time work in summer (I'm a nurse so the hours are pretty much unchanged.)

Thedogscollar · 06/04/2021 00:01

NHS midwife and count my blessings every day. Despite being stretched and tested to the limits over past year I know just how very lucky I am.

I really hope something comes along soon for you OPFlowers

TheLesserOfTwoWeevils · 06/04/2021 00:01

Furloughed, then after being back at work for a couple of months I was made redundant twice (company went into liquidation so I was made redundant, then rehired by the ordinal company's sister company a month later, then made redundant again a few months after that as it doesn't look like there's much of a future for the sister company either).

I've been very fortunate as I've been able to get a new job almost straight away which I was not expecting at all in the current climate.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/04/2021 00:02

3 - I wfh half time anyway.

hullaballoo19 · 06/04/2021 00:12

I've kept my job and actually upped my hours recently (I only worked 6 hours a week and was finishing my final year of uni until July last year) but haven't managed to find a position related to my degree yet (psychology - looking for assistant psychologist positions)

Osirus · 06/04/2021 00:12

2., apparently.

I was brought back to work from furlough in November (off since March 2020), and have been on flexi-furlough since, although I’ve been working my usual hours without any further “furloughing”.

There’s around 130 employees, only one still on furlough (and has recently refused two positions to return to, so not sure what they will do with them now).

LionLily · 06/04/2021 05:10

I work in care and so my hours increased last March as we stopped using agency staff. Extra hours are still available but I choose to stick to my contracted hours.
My organisation is known for looking after its employees and have looked after us well. 3% pay rise this year, plus more enhanced shift allowances plus 2 extra days leave per year in acknowledgement of staff's commitment through covid.

Pyewackect · 06/04/2021 05:13

NHS, nothing has changed for us.

Undertheoldlindentree · 06/04/2021 05:41

Made redundant during pandemic. Cash-strapped public sector. Not managed to secure a new job yet. Worried.
