Are you-

  1. Redundant
  2. On furlough/flexi-furlough
  3. Kept your hours and job as it was before the pandemic

Just interested to see. I was made redundant last year. So was DD and a couple of other family members and friends. Been looking for several months and none of us been successful yet but some have had interviews.

  1. My company made 300 people redundant last year though so I consider myself lucky. We are now recruiting like mad though!

Was made redundant at the end of December - not Covid related, knew it was coming. Got another job in February.

Had resigned at beginning of last year to do some travelling as husband working abroad. Got Covid related work in May and have done that since and WFH, have worked every week since with variety of hours by choice.

Actually got a part time job during lockdown, working remotely for a multinational company! Went from SAHM to working 2 days per week from home.

The government would class me as an unemployed bum but I was pre-pandemic too.

Self employed, still working very minimally, about 1/4 of what I usually would be and what I’d usually be bringing home. Still very much reliant on self employed grants and UC which I never have in the past. Should hopefully be back to normal in 22 or 23 I hope (industry dependant)

  1. But as WFH have changed my working hours to suit the school day. I’m still doing the same amount of hours going.

Well I built up a business during Covid.
So I’m actually in a better place than I was at the start of it

I was initially furloughed and then made redundant last year. Have just been offered a new job.

None of the above. I was made redundant last year but found another job where I am wfh.

  1. Flexi - but I’ve had a promotion, payrise and my employer are still paying full pay.

Very grateful.

3 throughout. I don’t know anyone who has been furloughed thankfully. I feel very much for those at are, especially as a lot of those will lead to job losses I feel.

  1. I have been on furlough since the first lockdown and have just gone back part time, I'm very relieved that by the skin of our teeth the company I work for has just about survived....and now we've got the horror of Brexit to deal with!

#4 . Made redundant on 1st April 2020 from my job in healthcare. Found an emergency supermarket job. Doing the same hours as my previous role but working nights.

3 wfh hours the same

Think you are right about the demographic of MN. Before Covid my impression is there were not as many threads from hospitality or retail staff compared to threads about them (eg more about children in cafes then staff responding or starting their own threads).

DH and I are both 3 although it was almost 1 for me when the company downsized after lockdown 1.
DD1 was 2 and would still be or maybe 1 (hospitality) but decided to return to study instead.
I know plenty of people who have lost their jobs and some that are still on furlough hoping to go back soon.

Kept my job...was on furlough for 5 months...about to go on maternity leave. No pay review this year due to lots of losses and many people let go.

  1. Been on furlough for a year (travel industry) told I probably won’t be back until October. Had to take on a 2nd part time job to make up for the 20% loss
